Scott Monroe from The Barnacle Parking Enforcement System talks with Thomas MacDougal about how The Barnacle will benefit the City of Reading and its residents on Reading Parking Authority.
They tried these things in AZ all you need to do is take some fishing live and get underneath the suction cups and break them loose. Then you take the thing and put it in the back of a city bus and let them follow it around on their GPS all day long !! LOL
As it turns out, to take off the Barnacle, all you need to do is run your vehicle's windshield defroster for 15 minutes, and then use a credit card or similar thin piece of plastic to release the suction cup around the edge.
@@bluehornet197 if Australians don't move much, why are you all not super fat or something? If you're talking about Australian peoples mouths, maybe just speak for yourself cos I've not seen anyone on Neighbours talking like that!
@@bluehornet197 I know you weren't talking about physical movement, that's just what it looks what you were talking about. The guy in the video is American and talking without his mouth moving much, if an Aussie or Brit did it, it would look about the same, like I said I've seen you lot talk.
@@bluehornet197 and I live in England, the source of all Australians ;) Non of us move our mouths as little as this guy. He looks like he sucked on a lemon before the camera guy hit record.
Great - I see engineering students from competing frats disabling and keeping these things as trophies. Would the driver be responsible? Basically, it's a big yellow toy screaming, "TAKE ME HOME!!!!"
Step 1: turn on vehicle Step 2: turn on window defroster Step3: wait for the heat to decrease suction Step 4: remove with slimjim Step 5: take out to desert and destroy device until you find the sim card Step 6: destroy or sell sim card Step 7: laugh maniacally
These things are very easy to defeat. All you have to do is look at reviews. They claim not to tamper with them because whatever company is enforcing them is notified but they never show up in time to do anything about it. As a matter of fact they cannot do anything about it because they are not the police. Give it time and the batteries go dead especially in the winter they go dead very fast. Once the battery is dead they are not trackable.
These were tried here in Princeton Nj and it lasted a week. University students and the public had fun removing these and keeping as souvenirs or throwing them out. It’s actually very easy to remove. A little club soda and keyboard air cleaner and it pops off. While the idea is amazing the science is far misguided. Municipalities should do their due diligence and ask questions a head of time before committing to this. Ask engineering students not the barnacle makers.
I went to visit a HS friend at the University of Oklahoma a year ago and many of the enginnering students were getting the devices off in a minute or so late at night. They left about 12 of them stacked up and parking services had a fit.
Shim the suction cups with fishing line or a steel shim, leave it on the ground. Takes less than 30 seconds. For bonus points, keep a screwdriver set handy so you can open it up to collect a free GPS module and rechargeable battery.
I'm sorry but if someone put that on my car I'd be taking it off and it would be in a thousand pieces. I think putting anything on anyones car would be considered a type of vandalism. Those suction cups could possibly break the glass depending on how strong they are or there's a weak point in the glass.
The NSA wants to know your location will you share it with them? X Continue or cancel? (Imagine that in a box lol much like you see on your computer this worked much better in my head 🤣🤣🤣)
I personally don’t see how efficiently is going to be at all ... also not everyone has the credit card or the money to pay ... is a burden.... as for technology is bulky and to big .... big cities don’t need this at all .... ridiculous
@@fahrradmittelfranken8207 Omg, I bet they never thought of that. What about when they park in a legal spot and the corrupt tow company tows them anyway? Answer that Einstein.
@@tedwilliams8879 [citation needed] In an age where everyone has a camera with them and they just might run into someone who takes a photo of their parked car just so they can prove they were towed unlawfully this is your typical "ok boomer" fairy tale.
Thats exactly what I did lol made 2 of the smallest holes paid a case of beer to my mate and had him replace my windshield I claimed the thing fell off
Nice try, but remember... parking enforcement has taken note of your license plate, so you're still responsible for the ticket. AND you'll be charged with criminal damage/theft if the Barnacle isn't returned.
Your system is Your system is a joke. I have personally witnessed college students break these barnacles loose in less that 10 seconds with a hammer and a punch. Once the compressor is punched it loses suction.
@@miguelbermudez5426 other people have had success, its also just thermodynamics and physics. a fishing line works better than a credit card but not many people carry fishing lines with them
LMAO people dropping off a piece of crap they didn't want, and in fact hate after being extorted for hundreds of dollars. More likely they will be discarded in random locations or flat out destroyed. If i see one sitting around i'll be sure to destroy it like any hero would lol! :)
@@skyflyer9095 200 bucks to have the thing removed? No thanks plus it's cheaper for me to break my own windshield and get a mate to replace it for me then it would cost me to remove the barnacle legally
Any inventions have its downside..... Of course u can break it or puncture the suction cups or do whatever u want but the enforcement people have already recorded ur vehicles' particulars n photos...it in fact has gps tracker...i read it from their website...vandalising may get u in jail, i guess
Thats why you dont touch it lol just get a drill bit and a drill get into your car and drill from the inside till the suction is gone then drive away you didn't physically tamper with the barnacle you just drilled 2 holes in your windshield just make sure to get the windshield replaced before they come knocking lol you can just claim it fell off
Just drill 2 small tiny little holes where their suction cups would be it's not illegal to do that you're allowed to drive around with cracks in your windshield to an extent so 2 little holes wouldn't be an issue if the people put the barnacle over the holes and set it up then just take it off and destroy it haha
Drivers are sociopathic, they'll drive away with their heads out the window, endangering themselves or others. Boots are good BECAUSE they damage vehicles if people try to drive away.
