You had some really beautiful cells going there and then wiped them out. As a beginner, I'd like to have seem more about how to create the "cells" (maybe wrong word) than just moving paint around.

Hello, Laurel! Saw some of your Alcohol Ink pieces in another video showing preps for lots of cardmaking~~~anyway, found this one of yours and LOVE IT! So, so cool! Love the color palette and especially the GOLD FLAKES! NEAT! I also enjoy watching you “create as you go” and your tip to keep going till you like it! And with Alcohol Inks easy to “redo” whenever! :-)). It’s like “liquid erasing” in a way! ALWAYS love having a “way to fix/change” as needed! Another FUN n’ CREATIVE video, Laurel! Interesting. I just a few bottles of alcohol inks in a box of different types of inks, and I have no experience with them at all... Figured a few videos first would be a good idea, and this has me fired up to get started! I love that addition of that gold stuff. Really cool. Also - thanks for saying that bit about not having to bit expensive stuff to use with the inks. I was a bit worried at first =)

I love the Brea Reese liquid glitter (I use their watercolor inks as a base to reink my basic dye ink pads). I think liquid glitter is wonderful for insect wings. I have not seen a bottle of rubbing alcohol on a store shelf for four months so I am experimenting with alcohol inks vicariously through you. 😁

It's fun to see different tichniques and styles of different artists. This imspired me to pull out my old ceramic tiles and give this a try! Ive heard anything but Kamar Varnish would reactivate the inks? Myriam's Nature talks about it a little bit on her channel. Do you have that problem? I'm also wondering if the guilding flakes would melt if you took heat to them?

im a total beginner--can you tell me after you make the panels--what do you do with them? Are they for hanging or do you use them for something else? I am interested in learning alcohol inks, but wondering if they have additional purposes other than to achieve that tye-dye type of look?

I frame them, put a sentiment on them and turn into cards, etc..... I put alcohol ink on mugs (video on my channel). So much you can do.

I use regular isopropyl alcohol to clean my hands.... And you can mix mica powder in with the alcohol ink for sure!

I use the wow dual heat tool. It has two settings. One for heat embossing (higher setting) and one for drying watercolor prints (not so hot and strong heat so it doesn't push the watercolor around). ldli.co/e/j434y9

it doesn't matter. Cheapo brushes are fine! Just brushes dedicated just to alcohol inks.

They come in sizes as small as 4x4 and are available in about 75 sizes up to 20x24, so there are lots of sizes, but yes you can cut them two different ways. You could use a saw to cut them, or you could use a sturdy box cutting knife, which makes a very clean cut, provided your knife blade stays in the track, but it takes multiple passes with your knife blade. Make sure it is good and sharp and you use a good straight edge. Be patient, and make sure to keep your fingers away from the blade.

You can seal it with a krylon spray, I usually just leave them alone! :)

I don’t think she mentioned that the ink has to be a high percentage isopropyl. Like 90 and up. The lower ones don’t work. :)

I found the Brea Reese alcohol inks much messier...the consistency was a bit more runny than the Ranger inks. Did you notice any differences?

I did notice the Brea Reese are not as thick as ranger, but I liked that because it moved around the paper easier... Yes, the bottles do tend to be messy, especially in the lid/tip area...

Very beautiful just a quick question I have a piece of glass made out of a bottle and I use an alcohol ink and now it didn’t come out so well so I do you know how I can remove the alcohol ink on this bottle and redo it or do I just paint over it and start over the texture is blotchy and dry on this particular one and I think when I made the mistake of us putting alcohol and on the bottom and not letting the alcohol dry before I cleaned it off ty ♥️

Try zapping your alcohol ink with a blow dryer.... Not on super hot setting. That might help.

Yes, you can mix the two alcohol ink brands. And I do put a sealer on cards as well as my hard panels, but putting on cards is just a habit. I don't believe you need to do that for cards.

non porous surfaces only. So I don't think so. Unless the canvas has a slick coating on it.

The second one is beautiful! Question, what makes you use the matte varnish vs gloss? I always used gloss varnish so it would be shiny because I was afraid the matte would make it dull or flat or something? Please let me know what you prefer! Thanks!

Ha, I am not sure really. I guess I like the matte varnish because the ceramic is already glossy? LOL! Its likely I already had it for sealing paper projects!
