Thanks for this, makes more sense than most that I see. I did a all turret build for a Klingon Carrier that I use sometimes. Thing turns so slow it was the best option to do any damage, plus it looked cool cause it was like an old school flak cannon spread. Wasn't worried about the dps or anything, I just play for fun.
I was weirdly proud of that. I didn't want to go full into the turret build because it's basically a modified CSV build and it's very much a meme build, but thought it'd be funny to briefly cut to it in action.
One of the things I like about Entwined Tactical Matrixes is that, when it triggers Torpedo Spread 1 after using Fire At Will, it does not start a cooldown on Torpedo Spread. That means that, with two torpedoes equipped, you can get have torpedoes in flight from Torpedo Spread 1 triggered by Fire At Will followed immediately by torpedoes from Torpedo Spread 3, or whatever version you slot.
One thing that is worth noting for the newer players, ie those most prone to be slogging through the content for the first time. In the Meta, which is largely based on group play, and is fighting elite tier high health enemies that last a few firing cycles, Beam Overload is king. But for the solo play content game, as you play your way through missions and even most patrols. Fire At Will or FAW will typically be the better option. Rather than shooting each of the vast horde of swarming foes one at a time, you blast apart a bunch of them. Do not try to fight through the H'urq in BO mode. For general solo content grinding FAW + Torpedo Volley benefitting from ETM is a much smoother experience. You're not going to have a tank, so everything will be pounding on you anyway.
That's really good advice. Most stuff dies so quickly in solo/normal/advanced anyway, it's better to kill everything at once than individually. The same goes for CSV over RF. I've noticed one other thing too, often enemies die before cannons and torps even reach them, making beams, FAW specifically, best for solo/normal and some advanced TFOs.
Whoa, I switched from Strategist to Temporal and my life changed in a blink of an eye. That and cycling between both Beam Overload II and III and my beam boat is now vicious!! One little change made all of the difference, THANKS!!
Basically, "the magic of GUN." CSV builds are what I use on every single character until I figure out something else or tweak it somehow. My newest upgrade to my main character was the Inquiry, and I've now maximized my best phaser cannon build with that ship. I don't even use all of the meta consoles, traits, etc., and I can breeze through the entire game. Breaking DPS records and constantly doing Elite content are the only reasons you'll ever have to make the best builds in the game, otherwise you can tweak these energy builds to whatever you. Theme builds, meme builds, rainbow turret builds, go nuts.

You can find angle, when doing broadside, where your front torpedo can fire together with almost all beams(since rear beams arent all centered in middle). Im usually just about on limit between all beams and torpedo arc, small turn inside when torpedo is ready to fire and back. It works only against slow or stationary targets ofc.
In the Solonae Dyson arc, A Step Between the Stars has some decent EVA suits--some of the better-looking ones in the game. Depending on your actions you have a choice of three different suits and you do not need to complete the missions to get them. Now these are good for when you don't have Burnham's Suit unlocked, and they are free suits. Also if you pass a suit to a Boff the mission will spawn a new one for you. So this is one of the best ways to quickly stock up your Boffs with a suit. I run it three time to get the three different models--I assign them based on the Boff's career and it is one way to quickly identify what an officer's career is. But this will take three runs into the mission but you don't have to complete it to get the suits. But you can easily just stick with one, stock up your Boffs with suits in one go and move on with your game. If you have one of each type, you can spend Lobi to combine the three into one of the two more advanced versions. Both have the same stats and the only difference is if you have the black or white option. These are perhaps not worth it as much anymore due to better options but some may like collecting them. And they are not terrible suits.
I totally forgot the Recon ship was put in the Lobi store. Doesn't mean its cheap, and its still a single character unlock, but it does mean its cheaper than most promo ships on the exchange.

I didn't realize that Withering Barrage was on that T6 BoP from the KDF Recruit Event. Do you have time for a question for my CSV Build? I'm running a 5/3 CSV build (4 DHCs, 1 Torp, 3 Turrets) with the following traits: -- Calm Before the Storm -- Cold Hearted -- Emergency Weapon Cycle -- Entwined Tac Matrices -- History Will Remember -- Supercharged Weapons Which should I change out for Withering Barrage? I'm thinking History Will Remember.
If you want to use Withering Barrage you'll want to swap out Entwined Tactical Matrices. WB extends CSV's duration, whereas ETM allows you to activate CSV1 with the activation of torp spread. Because of that, the CSV1 you get with Entwined will override the extended CSV you activated. So you only want to use one or the other because one will override the other, making it redundant. If it's a choice between the two, I find Withering Barrage to be a bit more reliable than Entwined. Plus it's a little better for DPS because you'll constantly have CSV3 up instead of swapping between 3 and 1.
Because Auggie is a magical DPSing wizard. Rainbow builds are doable, but they're definitely not optimal and not something I'd recommend to newer players.
I get plenty of rainbows just with sticking with one energy type when using a bunch of Rep-Set gear... I wish Rep-Set variants of the energy type sticked with the color themes of the energy type more.
I don't know if it's still true, but I remember hearing that something like 75% of players will never do an elite TFO. Just how different should or would the builds be?
I have been trying to do a tank build for the Operations Miracle Worker Cruiser - Mur'Eq class ship, I am not really sure what weapons to put on it. I have not seen very many build videos on it.
Love that turret build music :) Great video by the way, really communicated a lot of useful information in a short amount of time. I may or may not need to adjust my build based on this. I'm currently running a MAS III build with Disco DBB, Terran Beam Array, SL DBB, and a Dark Matter up front, with a Trilithium Turret, Adv Inhibiting Omni, Phaser Omni, and a KBB on the back. It's basically a forward facing build with the Terran Beam instead of a DBB up front. It also takes advantage of the Disco 3-piece, the Terran 2-piece, the borg 2-piece and the Adv Inhibiting 2-piece. The Trilithium turret is for the set bonus that has haste, and to trigger MAS III if the Dark Matter Torp is on CD. Any thoughts for Improvement?
I saw at 3:02 you have all your aft slots filled with omni beam arrays. What arrays are those? AFAIK, all omni arrays are 1-per-ship and don't allow any other omnis to be equipped until the existing one is removed
Omni beams are separated into two categories, those that are in sets and those that aren't. So for a phaser build, I'd use the Trilithium enhanced omni from episode and either a lockbox omni or a crafted one. This makes building for Phaser and Disruptor pretty easy because both of them have set omnis as episode rewards. Plasma and Antiproton are going to be more expensive because their set omnis are in the lobi store. The third omni beam is actually the Borg Cutting Beam from the Omega Task Force reputation. While it has a 360 degree arc, it's actually not considered and omni-directional beam because it deal kinetic damage and isn't effected by firing mode abilities. The cutting beam also has a useful set bonus with the console from that reputation that can significantly lower your weapons power cost periodically.
Going to try "temporal" as a secondary. Overall not a bad video at least for energy weapon damage types and abilities. But I think weapon mods could have been touched on a little bit more. IE: best mod type 4xDamage Crt/Dmg as an example.
You're not wrong, I hadn't thought to include optimal mods for energy weapons. And those are only best for tactical, Engineer and Science toons should go for CritDx4 CrtD/Dmg. Maybe I'll do a video on just reengineering.
Why do you think they dont allow you ships full range of motion? There is plenty of zone area. It just seems like lost potential for space gameplay. Especially for the more menuverable crafts. Doesnt seem like it would be too hard to create. Some of the best space gameplay around but the liner nature of it does get mundane. Great video. Wish i had the time to create a build. The ground combat well sorry, kind of doodoo. It frustrates me that games like this are created then just kind of fall off. Keep up the good videos. Also. Why no local audio chat? Been playing this game a long time and have never once did a pvp thing. Keep up the good content. Its appreciated.
A weapon proc rarely make that much of a difference with how low their chance to triggering is, even with really high haste. I've always found the extra crit severity built into Dual Heavy Cannons to be much more valuable.
Kemocite is better on Torp builds because it always triggers with a torp hit, while only having a 10% chance with energy weapons, but it's still worth using on them. You can keep it with Dual Heavy Cannons, but be sure to buff your haste any way you can (which is already good advice for any energy weapon build). If you really want to get more out of Kemocite, use the Dark Matter Quantum with it. The Dark Matter Dissolution DoT it give also triggers Kemocite every time it ticks.

@@AugmentedDictatorGames I'm afraid it's not just the budget. This whole video is predicated on the idea that you're in a pre-made team with a dedicated tank. That's pretty explicit in the discussion of Redirecting Arrays (roughly 10:30 - 11:00), but it runs through the rest. Such as recommending Temporal instead of Strategist, because the ship doesn't use heals. Yet in other parts of the video, there's an explanation of the difference between single and dual cannon. Those are messages for two very different levels of players. It gives this video a kind of multiple personality disorder. It probably should have been split into two vids, one for each target audience.
