In this video aimed at beginners I explore the fundamentals of model building, removing items from the sprue through to sanding and basic assembly. My idea with these videos is to make a comprehensive, detailed guide on how to build plastic models. from the basic and introductory methods to more advanced painting and weathering techniques.

I learned the tape trick pretty quick after cutting a photo etch piece and it flew across my work table and I spent 20 minutes clearing everything off my table, I did find it though...haha. Your videos are so precise and have helped me so much...Thank You James

Hey James, good solid basics for the uninitiated modeller. I keep meaning to do a similar video on the basics of model building... soon I suppose. I have to be honest and say you seem to be a lot like me when shooting your videos. The opening scene with the glues, sprue tree and tools was very precisely laid out and reminded me of the way I like to do static setups. I really appreciate your professional approach to shooting each scene as it again is very similar to my approach as well. I can't stand too much clutter in a video, I find it very distracting. As always I really enjoy what you're doing KUTGW!

Thanks for the tips, one question, do you wash the spruces first in warm soapy water before doing anything,or can I just get straight on with building the model ?.👍.
@lpjmodels
@lpjmodels 2 года назад
Unless the kit is ancient and visibly greasy no. Its a myth that mould release is a problem in 2022. Mould release agents are present in the plastic, and isn't the old style " grease the pan " style. Get building, if you have greasy fingers wash before painting.

Hi I just started doing Model Kit Cars and I've been facing the same problem again and again I spray painted alot of the parts before gluing them together but my glue seem to "melt" the paint , do you have any tips or tricks ? I used Tamiya Acrylic spray paint and Revell contact glue with the needle tip ! Thanks again
@lpjmodels
@lpjmodels 2 года назад
You need to remove any paint from mating areas first, the glue won't bond paint well, it works by melting the plastic together ! Glue will usually affect paint, unfortunately, so you'll need a more precise method of application, fine brush in the tamiya extra thin works well, or decant some glue onto some foil and use a needle or toothpick to apply. I find it better to paint as much as I can assembled but I know it doesn't always work like that.

Hello sir scale, LPJ Models and modeling friends. Could you help me with scaling (viewers can also answer). If a real shower pipe is 20mm in diameter and it's distance from a real water tank's outlet hole is 1m, if my miniature pipe is 2.72mm, what's the distance of the miniature water tank's outlet hole? Thank you. God bless, Rev. 21:4
@lpjmodels
@lpjmodels Год назад
The pipe fits at around 1/7.35 scale scaled down from reality, so the rough distance of 1m in 1/7.35 is 136.05 mm Man that was hard even using an online tool
