The fact that Matt Reeves threatened to leave if he didnt get 100% control over the movie got me hyped, so glad writers are starting to get to breathe on these movies

When DC decides to do their own thing and not follow trends, that’s when they shine. I am looking forward to this movie. I feel like it will be a great movie that happens to feature Batman. That’s how DC shines.

The contrast in the darkness and the colors is VERY reminiscent of Batman the Animated Series with their “draw on black paper” innovation. SUPER excited to see that vibe matched here.

Your review was absolutely on point, this was the best depiction of Batman I’ve seen on the big screen so far. Robert Pattinson was so good and the movie had the perfect dark and gritty atmosphere. I was not disappointed at all.

This honestly excites me more excited than any MCU film. Don’t get me wrong, marvel makes great movies but it feels unnatural to me because there’s always a joke every two seconds, even in the most serious situations. This movie looks dark and gritty and feels like it’s nothing we’ve ever seen before and I’m here for it.

This seems like the Batman I’ve needed not just wanted but needed. Can’t remember the last time I was this excited for a film. Everything from the stunning gritty visuals to the casting looks perfect. It just seems so grounded and distinctive. Add what seems to be like a true character study for not just Batman but Bruce himself, I can’t control my hype.

I still cannot believe we are getting a gritty Batman in his early years in a gritty gothic Gotham City while dealing with corruption, and hunting a serial killer. The movie also has amazing cinematography, crazy fight choreography , insane musical score etc I will genuinely be shocked if this movie doesn’t live up to the hype

Can’t wait for his next video: Why “The Batman” is the best Batman movie (Rightfully so, because it is)

Yes. Finally, something that looks like a movie, not just a 'comic book movie.' Don't get me wrong, I freaking love comics, but comics and comic book movies are two completely different genres. Comics are a mix of writing and art. Every panel is intentional to tell a story and make you feel a certain emotion. Comic book movies these days seem to be made by a committee. "How do we make the most amount of money?" And yes, I enjoy a good number of them. The latest spiderman movie made me so happy that I thought I'd need to seek medical attention, but I miss the days of a writer working with a director and a team of creatives to make one vision come to life on-screen. I miss things being somewhat grounded in reality where costumes and props and sets are real things.

It honestly is, Matt Reeves truly seems to know the character more than any director that came before and you can tell how in love he is by listening to his interviews. Everything I ever wanted in a Batman film is here. Then we got the amazing cast, the cinematography, how accurate it is for a Year 2 Batman despite being a little more grounded. It's a shame that some people are trying to hate on the film because they either don't like Pattinson merely due to Twilight, or because Ben is not Batman even though it was Ben's decision to leave, or because is not Rated R even though they're pushing the PG-13 rating to its limits. I've been obsessed with this film and it's almost here. I can't wait for the eventual spinoffs and the sequels.

This movie looks exactly what every superhero film should aspire to be. Original, great world building and prioritizing a good story telling and character development. I feel like nowadays every big blockbuster is a product that doesn't have the basics of what makes a film genuinely good. Not the case with this movie, honesty, I'm more of a Spidey fan, but I loved Batman since day 1 and I can't wait for this movie.

Its overwhelming how many check marks this film seems to be hitting for me personally, everything i love and want in a bottle and so far my favorite thing is how they were able to mesh Kurt Cobain's music from the trailer with the TBAS score, gave me Goosebumps! Also they don't even need CG to get Batman's white eyes. Whole white contacts with an added Frank Miller pop in the shadows. Practical & frightening giving Batman a more enigmatic presence while it won't compromise Rob's acting ability with it

As someone going through intense grief, who is completely broken and using that darkness to do great things, this was BEAUTIFULLY written and spoke directly to me. It is ok to feel low, completely ok, just know that you matter mate. You really do matter.

Jason Todd is a character that has been quite lacking in the movies. I'm excited to see what you do with him!!!

The Main theme of the movie is the literal representation of pain and sadness turned into something good with a little bit of the animated series you'll love it

Batman is at his best when he’s written and designed hyper-stylised, he is, in my opinion, the most comicbooky hero. He’s meant to have villains wondering if he’s real let alone even human! We don’t need him to be the glorified spy movies super hero movies have become. We haven't really got a batman movie where they take the exaggerated aspects of the comic books that make him so special, its stayed pretty close to james bond in a batsuit. Which is a shame because it misses the best parts of batman. I'd love to see a batman where the audience suspend their disbelief an watch as this super natural creature leaping through the night pulling criminals into the shadows with superhuman speed, and strength. A creature seemingly disappearing into darkness only to reappear behind a terrified criminal, have it shot like a horror movie. Then show us the confused scared human side of bruce with the mask off, as if its two different men. The issue i had with the dark night was that batman was too human, he was the same with the suit on and off both physically and emotionally, i want us to know they are the same person but unable to believe that the mild mannered bruce wayne that gotham sees is the batman. have him battle with the effects of being batman not be on his life, we have spiderman for that theme, but on his body and mind, have him struggle with who's body it is, is bruce pretending to be batman, or is batman pretending to be bruce. Lastly make sure it is campy and stylised but play it straight, i mean exaggerated and unbelievable caricatures of villains that feel unpredictable and make the audience uneasy. Do all this to distance the character as far as possible from how goofy a traumatised rich boy in a bat suit is.

The noir detective version of Batman we always needed

If it is about going from broken to healing, I desperately hope that means we'll get to see Dick Grayson. Dick is the reason Bruce healed as much as he did, and I haven't seen Let Me In but "never shying away from the brutality and cruelness a child can face" if that isn't the entire point of Robin idk what is. We're so close... we might just have it all.

This movie hasn’t even come out and yet we already know so much about it’s amazingly dark atmosphere and tone.

Saw the early screening last night and gotta say I'm very glad the detective side of batman has been done justice very well and even the fight scenes are some of the best so far. Easily worth a watch.

It looks like the animated series combined with the Nolan trilogy. I’m seriously digging the Long Halloween vibe. Pattinson is one of the best actors working today and I can only hope he will be the definitive Bruce Wayne.

I said a while back that this would be the movie to top the dark knight. Trailer after trailer, interview after interview and I still think this movie will top it. I love the dark knight, but if we’re talking about a REAL Batman movie, this looks to be the most comic accurate, the most Batman movie I think that can ever be made

I think the thing that really hooked me with The Batman was the theme. It’s mostly based off the Funeral March and I think it’s just perfect for this character

if you read the comics you feel how batman is the most interesting character in the story, but in the movies he's always overshadowed by others. i lost the count of how many people i know says the joker is better than batman, just because they only seem the movies

Whenever people ask "can Batman be happy," I can't help but think, yes, yes he can. The problem is, to a lot of people, a happy Batman is the Adam West Batman, and I know that's the kind of image that DC is trying to avoid

The thing that impacted me the most about The Batman trailer is the setting. Yes, It's Gotham, however, it feels massive. I remember Alex saying something in his Titans review (the first one), and it is that each location needs to be graded differently so the audience understands that there is a time interval or a change in place. The trailer and movie looks to be doing this wonderfully, from the blue darkness of the streets we see at the beginning, the greys of the train station, to the blinking reds of what seems to be a prison and the golden rays of the dawn making all from the buildings to the characters into silhouettes; this makes the city look like it has no end to it.

This was written and narrated so BEAUTIFULLY. HOLY SHIT. YOU ARE SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO TALENTED. KEEP IT UP. OMG

I love Hitop Films, I may not agree with some of the things he says but god damn when this man speaks about something he is so strongly passionate about, it's incredibly moving and awe-inspiring, he is someone who cares so much about the art of movie-making and it's incredibly contagious, Hitops if your reading this you are everything I aspire to become, don't ever stop doing what you love, I'm incredibly hyped to watch your Jason Todd Fan Series and whatever else you decide to put out, have a good one mate!

I've been following the development of this movie all the way back when it was still only in the concept stage and the first interview with Matt Reeves I saw of him talking about Batman, he mentioned his no killing rule and I instantly smiled. This isn't a pretentious director pretending to understand, you can see and feel the passion in all of his tweets and when he talks about Batman and his mythos you can see the dense knowledge he has. Don't even get me started on Rob, he's such an exceptional actor and he's going to easily be the best live action Batman to date. This movie is going to be a once in a lifetime experience, completely monumental

The Batman/Catwoman romance is one aspect of this movie I'm most looking forward to, and not just because Matt Reeves is giving us horny superhero flicks again. Selina Kyle is by all means a criminal. By Bruce/Batman's standards, she should just be another one of the nameless goons he takes down with ease. But he can't, because he actually sees something in her that he emotionally connects to. Her motives aren't black and white, just like his aren't either. Framing their relationship around Bruce's arc of learning to be a more empathetic person who doesn't purely exist to seek out revenge is so brilliant, and adds a layer to the Bat/Cat romance that hasn't really been explored in the live action films prior to this. Great video as always Alex! Keep up the great work, you inspire me so much!

Ever since Daredevil season 1 I wished that we would get a Batman HBO series or movie that would not necessarily copy it, but have some of the same tone and feel. Titans feels like it wanted to be the answer to the Netflix shows without understanding what worked with them when Marvel Netflix was at its best. This looks exactly like I would imagine that to be.

Words cannot describe the level of excitement I feel for this film. Also the relatability of Batman is so incredible beyond him just being a man!

I’m a firm believer that more restrictions (within reason) force you to be more creative. That’s why I think that sometimes movies with limited enough budgets look better than a lot of modern action superhero movies

I love the artistic direction it appears this movie is going to give us. You're right. The sameness of a standard superhero flick is disappointing. You can barely sense the difference in vision between directors. But I love the world they seem to have crafted with this film and I'm excited to see someone bring a comic world to life in a more visibly striking kind of way.

What I love about the look of this movie so far, is that Bruce Wayne/Batman looks to be the MAIN focus of the film. Not the villain, the hero, the protagonist. It's one of the reasons I loved Spider-Man compared to other heroes, because of the way it focuses on him. A character study in a sense. So to see The Batman do this with Bruce Wayne/Batman, makes me interested what exactly they will do with his inner character study.

I’m not usually into these “hype” videos. I always get a sinking feeling, like they’re not going to age all that well. The emblem on his chest is essentially two Bat-knives and nothing else. He already has a utility belt chock full of stuff so he couldn’t fit a regular knife in it so he just popped a couple of them into his chest plate. Love it
