Would it be possible to raise the complete sleeper, and perhaps the toolbox as well? then you could fit a side winch under it (or one each side if you like). Your cab and toolbox would surely still be well under the height limit.

One of my cars went to the shop on a roll-back five times. 1993 Ford Probe GT. I loved that car, but all the things it was known for, for breaking, broke. It was really fun to drive, so I kept fixing it until I retired in 2012. Then I bought a mid-life crises sports car.

When you mentioned "sleeping" across the seats it brought to mind a memory. I once worked with a rather short (Jockey short) really nice Mexican guy. If he needed a little nap , he had a garage creeper that would just fit atop the 2 seats. He'd just curl up use the head rest pillow "thing" and would be out like a light. Just 1 memory from over 40 yrs of being an asphalt pilot. 👍👍

They are both very capable trucks. They are also very different from each other. Each will absolutely be amazing doing the things that they are designed to do. They will also do well a lot of things at the edge of their capabilities. The best truck is the one that you have the most needs of doing. Having the flat bed run thru Edison would make it the coolest of the 2!!

Luxury and the sleeper are a HUGE thing on long runs. Motel rooms, or trying to sleep in the seat suck donkey balls. Even if you only use the sleeper a few times a year, it's worth it, IMHO. Keep up the good work.

I'm going to guess that Discovery 2 has the 4ltr v8, so most likely, is the coolant pump gave out and flipped the belt off, probably one of the most common issues with them, hence Casey 's comment as they pulled up.

Interesting comparison! But what you really need is a Scania cabover 770hp us spec, which would solve your problems so you wouldn't have to compromise, but the problem is price and red tape, because as of now it's not sold in US. P.S. I love your videos, from Denmark 🇩🇰

I'm Dutch and have owned 4 Landrovers, and with only one of those have i had no problems. But even with serious problems they can be used. Came back from northern Norway with two blown head gaskets (V8) and a singing diff....still got me and the trailer home. But if i buy another one, my wife told me she will have the locks in our home changed, and will not give me a key to them.

Well Casey, I think man you’ve got the best of both worlds there and both of those trucks granite. The side pull would be nice. You know make things a lot easier but I had international cab over rolloff and it had a side pull on it and they’re not all up to be you’ve gotta put Landing gears and all kinds of stuff on them if you’re gonna pick up anything heavy heavy hey man, great video. You made the right choice Casey, I don't think the perfect rig exsists just yet though the new western star may just be the backbone for that perfect set up. Though you still need either of them due to servicing etc guess you can't win em all.....

Yup, an EV breakdown truck. The handy charger hidden behind that tree, only a two day wait for it to slow charge, before one day the battery pack burst in to flames and it becomes a pool of twisted metal. Or in winter the range halves. Or up hills the range halves or worse.

I saw what you did there Casey, throwing in a comment about electric truck likely to goose the negative chat response which apparently for some ungodly reason is liked by the “algorithm”. If the comment was sincere it would be very interesting for local tows but you would need a significant backer to be able go that route truck and infrastructure wise. I would be interested seeing that. Ok bring on the diesel or die hate comments.

I have to say the Western Star. I’ve had a very love/hate (more hatred) towards International trucks. Having 17 years of driving them I’ve seen way too many stupid problems/quality issues to make me want to deal with anything International.

Us Mopar guys could get away with calling it Petty Blue. Western star sometimes gives more exciting tow videos like the one you teamed up with the rotator to pull out the motorhome. Rollback, well it pulls up the ramp, although wasn't it used for the lawn mower dumped over the 1000' cliff? Western Star has the sleeper, and with the number of out of state trips you've done, Zacklift on or off, can pull a trailer, so far seems to have had less mechanical down time. So I would have to go with your wife's jeep with the tracks on it.

Excuse my ignorance, but is there any mounting units like the Zacklift but as a rollback ? I mean if that were the case , you could almost have 1 super truck. Regardless i think the side puller would be an awesome addition but what do you sacrifice, the rack and or sleeper, or get a longer wheelbase truck and sacrifice the overall length while pulling a trailer. PS. I can't wait til you figure out the drive on bed for the Western Star. That's gonna be pretty cool and useful.

You should check out Edison Motors. They make a hybrid semi. Then you wouldn’t have to listen to the diesel engine run while loading.

The Western Star would be my pick The side puller would be nice but losing the sleeper wouldn't be worth it. But there's always Trucks for sale on Marketplace and at auctions so maybe a third truck with sidepuller zacklift and a fourth truck in standby just because 😁 And it looks like your definitely using the Bruce Cook method of tow truck operator you just need a chair to relax in 😂😂😂🤣🤣
