In this video I compare the Krag-Jørgensen rifle in Battlefield V's Recon class to the real rifle. It covers the brief history, function and some gameplay/shooting comparisons to the real-life Krag. Captured from PS5.
The Krag-Jørgensen isn't a rifle that shows up in many video games; in fact, the only other 2 games are Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2.
It's a bizarre 19th century design from an era where firearms designers were still figuring things out. It uses a very unique side mounted loading gate combined with a half-capsule (ofetn mistaken as rotary) magazine. You just sort of loosely place the round inside the box and closing the doors sorts everything out. It's dated but a smart system for circumventing rimlock.
It should be noted that while the Krag in BFV is a Norwegian 1894 long rifle chambered in 6.5x55, mine is an American Springfield 1898 chambered for .30-40, manufactured that same year(!). It's still very much a Krag in terms of action and magazine design though and it's every bit as good as the Norwegian version. BFV's model is probably as good as it will get for at least another decade. DICE's attention to detail is excellent as always.
