I don't know why "Let It Be" gets so put down, it has "Get Back," "The Long and Winding Road," the title track, "Across The Universe," "Two of Us," and "I've Got A Feeling," and "Maggie Mae" is a short little fun throwback to their Liverpool origins. With some of their best songs ever on this album, it's definitely in my top 5.

If that was done and 'It's All Too Much' replaced 'Good Morning,' Sgt. Pepper would have topped my current favorite, Revolver, as my favorite Beatles album. Since Rolling Stone selected Sgt. Pepper already as the greatetst album of all time, this would have been even more mind-boggling!

I love all Beatles albums, but there's no denying they got better from Rubber Soul onwards: they had progressed from being pop singers to genuinely great creative artists. Revolver is surely the best Beatles album, it is an actual band album with all of them taking large parts in making it what it is, whereas Sgt. Pepper is mostly a McCartney vehicle, writing most of the songs and playing more lead guitar solos than Harrison. Lennon had to be 'nudged' into composing tracks for it, even though he came up with some great tracks, he was heavily into his Acid. Harrison is mostly involved with just his own Within You Without You, and Ringo said he learned to play chess while making it. On Revolver, both Lennon and McCartney are hitting their peaks, McCartney with Eleanor Rigby, Here, There and Everywhere, Good day Sunshine, For no one and Got to Get you into my life. He also wrote Yellow Submarine, and played the brilliant Guitar solo on Taxman. Lennon was getting into his acid phase, with songs like I'm only Sleeping, She Said She Said and the awesome, way ahead of its time Tomorrow Never Knows, and chips in with And your bird can sing and Doctor Robert. George came into his own with Taxman, Love You To and the brilliant I Want To Tell You. It's as perfect as any album can get. Now nearly 55 years on, it's still regarded as one of the best albums ever. ✌️

Yeah, true. That was because those songs were released as singles and The Beatles decided not to include songs that had already been released on their albums so fans wouldn’t have to pay for the same song twice. It was good of them to do that but the albums would have been stronger if those songs were included on them.

But at the time, I remember an album coming out that I didn't get because I was suspicious.....It was not released on Capitol, had only 4 "Beatle songs" on it, one being "Ain't She Sweet". The other 3 didn't even sound like the Beatles. Does anyone remember this? Was this LP legit? If so, this would be a "worst".

You’re probably thinking of this one, which is mostly a collection of songs featuring the Beatles (when Pete Best was still the drummer) backing up singer Tony Sheridan, recorded in Hamburg, Germany in 1961-1962. Personally I like some of the songs. They showed off how tight the band was even back then. Somehow they even managed to rock hard on My Bonnie and Ain’t She Sweet, with John on vocals. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles%27_First

It was Yellow Submarine that introduced me to The Beatles. After seeing the film I became enthralled by the music. Yes, it might be considered "half an album" but what great songs it contained. Hey, Bulldog is still among my favourite songs of the band and one that I played over and over upon buying the album. I like the George Martin instrumental side just as much. Both refreshed my memory of the film's unforgettable images. In the early 70's and long before the advent of home recording devices this is all we had until catching another tv airing. In my opinion Revolver is their masterpiece. It has not a single bad track. As heretical as it might seem, I think Sgt. Pepper has some great songs (among their best) but some of their weakest and feel like filler, such as Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite, Lovely Rita, Fixing a Hole, She's Leaving Home. But Revolver is just solid. I can listen to it from beginning to end without skipping a track. I highly recommend a book titled Beatles '66. It documents the making of the album. It's by far the best Beatles album I have read.

Sgt. Pepper is vastly overrated. Half the songs are great but the other half feels like filler and I tend to skip over them whenever I listen to the album. I might have ranked it a bit higher. As far as their best I have to go with Revolver. The White Album falls into a grey area. I agree with George Martin that it would have been better as a single album. This comment has irritated some fans but I stand behind it and compiled a fantasy version.

Thank you for a very good ranking. I also keep 'With the Beatles' and 'Please Please Me' as the best ones. They where recorded at the time from 'She Loves You' and I Wanna Hold Your Hand' and other hits in the beginning of the Beatlemania. Then were the Beatles sensationel. 'A Hard Days Night' is also very good. Later they were only more and more uninteresting. I can find many, many albums from 1969 which are better than 'Let it Be' but no one which is more "terrible".

I don't have a favorite Beatles album. I think they're all good, even Yellow Submarine. There are a handful of Beatle songs that I'm not fond of. "Love Me Do" tops the list. I agree with John Lennon's sister who called it "absolute rubbish." The harmonica is harsh and annoying. On the other hand, "Please Please Me" is one of their best. It's just filled with joyous energy. Another early Beatles song I absolutely love is "I Feel Fine." Other Beatle songs I'm not fond of: "Got To Get You Into My Life," "Run For Your Life," "Matchbox," and the white album version of "Revolution" which sounds like The Beatles smoked a bomber before recording it. The Beatles album I listen to the most these days is "Let It Be." I don't care what others say. I love both the energy and spontaneity of it. It's my 93 year old father's favorite Beatles album. He always admired the Beatles. He played lead guitar in a country western band from the early 60s to the mid 80s and had his own renditions of "One After 909" and "Act Naturally." He also did a twangy country version of "Can't Buy Me Love."

I rate With The Beatles higher than Please Please Me. I kind of agree on "Hold Me Tight" but not "Little Child". I think it's a more sophisticated LP and a leap forward. A Hard Day's Night I think ranks higher than Help! The MMT LP would be a bit lower, as Flying & Blue Jay Way bring the record down a bit, same as they did the double EP. I really love listening to their earlier albums rather than the later ones. You can hear how tight the band was. Later their was a lot of bickering and problems in the studio. (Yet they still made great music. Some of their songs show this). That's why I love the earlier albums. My top 5 albums are. No.1 Rubber Soul. In my life is my favorite Beatles song. It's all about John. He sings this song with all heart and that's where it gets me every time I hear it. Equal No 1. As I couldn't choose between the two. Is Abbey Road. This was definitely the best of the studio Beatles. Nothing comes close as all of them chip in with great songs. But Because stands out with it's great harmony. That song reminds of the earlier years as how tight they were. No 3 is Please Please Me. I Saw Her Standing There open then the classic Twist and Shout finish. No 4. With the Beatles. It Won't Be Long opens and ends with another John rock'n'roll classic, Money. No 4. Revolver. Taxman opener and the fabulously mixed Tomorrow Never Knows. No 5 A Hard Day's Night. All songs written by Lennon/McCartney. I Should've Known Better is how I remember this album. As it was the very first song I heard them sing. Now I know Sgt Peppers is the best album of all time but there's many songs I don't like. As I said, I'm more of a early Beatles listener

For Let It Be, I like the "Naked" version than the 1970 release for 3 reasons: 1), it's got Don't Let Me Down, which is Lennon's strongest, I think, during the Get Back/Let It Be sessions, and it balances the songs output from being too Paul dominated, 2) it removed Dig It and Maggie Mae, which are only ad libs during the sessions, and not really proper songs intended (I think) for inclusion in an album, and 3) it removed the schmaltzy orchestra additions by Phil Spector in some of the songs (esp. The Long and Winding Road), which is contrary to the intention of the band to "get back" to basics at that period. If you consider, the Naked version, it is for me a "rough and raw" masterpiece from the band, which is unlike the rest in their cannon. My only wish, the song Get Back should have included the coda of the studio version.
