@lewis- I will laugh along with you, but the fact of the matter is that they sound and play like crap. Truth of the matter is - they are only cool because John played one - but Lennon only played one because he couldn’t find (or afford) a fender (which he & George wanted) or a better guitar to buy, but as soon as he was able, he hung up his Rik.
@@MPfranceI’ve never played a Rick but was amazed when you demonstrated on another vid how they go out of tune so easily! Great soundalike again as always - your vids are so inspirational 😊😊
Tbf, I guess us Brits are often a wee bit smaller (esp the war generation raised during rationing) than you guys haha :) (but yeah the tuning stability has the devil in its heart!)
I remember when With the Beatles came out…so many iconic songs . I liked Devil, but was kinda surprised it came in at #2 on requests. So I played it the 1st time after your presentation (so much more than a lesson). It’s really fun to play and there’s no comparison to George Harrison. Also shout out to the harmonies and left handed hofner on your recreation. Fab!
@@MPfranceWhy do they sound like crap? And why do they play like crap? Because I thought about buying one. Is it only from the feel? Would be cool to hear your answer
Wow dude, I wish I was able to jam with you, You have one hell of ear I spent fifty years on my life trying To get an ear like you, So I just settled with what I learnt Take it this way, my first rock and roll song.I learned I was 10 and it was little black eggl.O.L, I really enjoy your videos
Thanks Mike! Fantastic lesson and sound - alike! I always loved this song from the Beatles Second album - in my case. I still have the original 1964 mono pressing that my parents bought me for Christmas - as an obsessed 9 year old Beatles fan😃 - Tom
Another grest lesson as you would expect from Mike on this Beatles cover!..thank you Mike for this and all your other lessons on the Fab 4!..you did them/us proud!.... James 🎸
As usual… an awesome lesson and history of one of my favorite early George’s rendition and guitar virtuosity. ❤ Thank you Mike for sharing an outstanding video lesson!!! You Rock!!! ✌️❤️
Fantastic lesson & sound alike once again Mike! I didn't realize that was a cover version by the Beatles. Yet again one of my favorite early Beatles tunes. Thanks for keeping their music alive & well! 👍👍
Great analaysis - you really help with refreshing my reading which is a bit primitive at the best of times - an unexpected benefit from your analysis :-)
@vacca - Thanks and that's good to know. I've always said "you can't fluently speak a 'language' without being able to read it." And that definitely applies to the 'language' of music!
@@MPfrance I was put off at school - when I asked a piano player sat at a piano to play something the response was 'I can't without the music in front of me' my thought was then what's the point, when the music is in _you ! Naive and a mistake I regretted -years later I realised it's just a useful tool to help interpret what's in front of you - up to interpretation thereafter. Good way of quickly communicating the task ! At an early age I was thrown out of the music class for playing a Beatles riff on a Cello ! There began a 'parting of the ways' between me and the music teacher. My ears have been the best guide - reading came a lot later.
Hey Mike I was wondering if you could do a video on how you play your lead guitar parts on the frank stallone far from over video, your parts were really awesome!
Great job on this one again Mike. For fellow Guitarists my advice unless your in a Beatles tribute band. Avoid Rickenbacker Guitars . The necks are very narrow and they have no power. Yet they cost a fortune. Of course only because John & George (12 -String version ) played them. They look great I own a 6 & 12 myself. However I rarely play them. I play a Epiphone Casino instead. All 3 Beatles had one of those and they have power and are much easier to play than a Ric at about 3 grand less
Hey Mike, this was great, it really shows how the Beatles 'treatment' worked on the covers they did. On the Donay's version the opening riff is played through most of the choruses, which includes the part where it sounds like it's coming in early, so George was just copying that. 👍👍
@ARW - You're a bit mixed up. On the Donay's version the guitarist does NOT come in early like George's mistake. The guitarist DOES play that odd slide down that George copied tho'...
On Capital's Second Album, because they shortened the "Meet the BEATLES version of "With the Beatles", Sharon Brice was a British girl that just arrived with her own LPs and showed me the difference when I was in 9th grade.
good stuff mike! was wondering if you could do a tutorial from the sgt pepper album, like maybe its getting better or lovely rita? I love your tutorials either way, you made me the guitar player i am now!
Hey Mike. Would you ever consider doing a lesson on Free As A Bird, Real Love or Now And Then? I really love George's work on the first two and it would be great to get an accurate ear on what he's playing. Thanks for all your hard work, absolute legend (;
I never noticed the mistakes before. I have the first Beatles CD Box set that came out in the late '80's ? and the song appears to be in mono, so it's very hard to hear the first mistake, but the second odd run of notes can be heard.
Mike could you tackle the Journey song "Just the Same Way" from the album Evolution, that appears to have several key changes, especially near the end of the song. It's one of the last vocal performances featuring Gregg Rolie and Steve Perry.
This is like my Saturday morning. Some of yall born in the 80s and 90s liked the cartoons every Saturday morning. What about these lessons every Saturday morning
Both of those guitars they used have such unique sounds..I don’t think you can come close to getting it on any modern guitars or even other vintage models . The Rick 325 is such a hard to play mini guitar for most things but it sounds GREAT! Fantastic job.
Good morning, Mike. Love seeing a new post from you. You know I was watching an older episode of a certain HBO comedy series the other day, and one of the guest actors looked an awful lot like you. Would you happen to know anything about that?
I've always wondered how much royalties the song writer received on this song. Also, on the song Money. There is a long-standing dispute about who wrote Money.
Sorry but I disagree 😂 the Donays original version is similar but it’s way better than the Beatles version.. their vocals are way better than the Beatles Vocals 🤷🏻♂️😂 I’m a HUGE Beatles fan but you have to be honest .. Donays’s Version > the Beatles Version 😂
