I think they all knew it was the end of the road for them as a band, and so they poured their hearts and souls into that January rooftop performance. Come on, Paul, please release that movie on Blu-ray. Please!
Ok. This Pachelli version is the best tribute to The Beatles 'Don't Let Me Down' that I've ever heard. Yes I've heard others, but this one captures the passion like no other
Music lessons are both aural and visual. Tabs/chord shapes on screen are of great help. May your generosity come back to you hundredfold. We appreciate your talent and efforts. Thanks ❤
Nice job! The older I get, the more I appreciate those guys. I think I learned to walk with Sgt. Pepper spinning on dad’s record player. Streaming it over 50 years later and it still sounds fresh. People will study this music til the end of time.
I love your lessons because you're not afraid to sing with them. It's kinda hard to learn a two or three cord song that just repeats itself without the word to go along with it.
My favourite Beatles song. Great work to spot John's use of the pick. George's playing is incredible. Macca’s bass is amazing. Ringo drums it out of the park. Cream on the cake is Preston's keys
love the the way John forgets a line on the rooftop concert; also Billy does gorgeous keyboards; love John and Paul still singing harmony together that close to the breakup. George's custom tele...MIke, thanks for all your great posts !
It's stunningly amazing how you can take as diverse a population as exists on this planet and unite them under one idea , that The Beatles are absolutely the greatest band that ever and may ever exist. That is the true sign of geniuses at work. Right along side, da Vinci, Beethoven, or Einstein. You can take a person that knows nothing about the complexities of music and make them exclaim "WOW, that was beautiful". That's when you know that you have created something of value and significance for the world. Then you have Mike Pachelli, who can very carefully explain how they did it. That is a true master of their music. All the nuances of the craftsmanship in their songs would never be understood if someone like Mike didn't point them out and you begin to understand why the Beatles were the phenomenon that they were. The human ear and brain can tell the difference between a piece of music that was thrown together and one that was crafted with otherworldly talent. How many times has George Harrison brought just the perfect touches as a lead guitarist to a Lennon/McCartney masterpiece. Just the understated presents of his leads throughout the entire portfolio of the Beatles works is testament to his genius of beautifully crafted solos. And Ringo what another understated rhythm and solo artisan, without which the "sound" could have never been the same. His solos stand out as testament to a percussion that is as much a genius as Georges', just the perfect balance of accent and unique taste to carry the song to perfection. It's truly a miracle these four lads were brought together when they were.
Yes, I agree - talk about a perfect storm. It really is amazing how those particular people were the same age, were growing up in the same place, with the same sense of humour, same taste in music, and with so much talent, imagination and determination. Then, if you throw in Epstein's dedication and the fortuitous meeting with George Martin it becomes even more astonishing. I'm not superstitious, but you have to wonder sometimes. 😀
Brilliant comment and it bears spelling out, as too many people grossly oversimplify their work. We owe Mike a great debt; his niche knowledge renders him a real scholar of the subject, while his wonder before his subject is utterly contagious. So much for a '3 chord ditty'! Thank you for shining even more light upon the collective genius that originated from Liverpool.
Awesome, thanks Mike! Harrison is my favorite guitar player of all time, and he very quietly stood under the enormous ego shadow of the greatest song smiths of rock n roll and with the main attention diverted away he established himself as an absolute master! Even in the early years of the band Harrison was creating incredible main guitar and accompanying chords, riffs, and solos. It will no doubt sound odd, but in my humble, but totally correct opinion "Beatle" George is rock's most grossly under rated guitar player who also wrote some iconic songs while being near invisible! Bronzesnake - Thanks and I ABSOLUTLEY agree! The enormously beautiful solo George plays on "Til' There Was You" ALONE is enuff for a guitar player to rest on one's laurels. If you haven't seen it - do have a look at my homage to some of George's amazing guitar playing: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xJ0vCs-E5Bw.html
Totally agree about the understated beauty of George's playing. After watching the Get Back session, it appeared Paul suggested that very clever verse lick, and George put it together masterfully.
Mr Pachelli, I love your attention to detail, musical excellence! Thank you for taking the time. I'm 67 and have been playing these songs since the day they came out and you found stuff I never! Thank you👍🏼
The interlocking of rhythms in this song, between all instruments (as always), but especially complex here between John and George. And the tone of the guitars, everything is perfect. In this video Mike manages a beautiful tone on the tele, very close to the original, so tubey and glassy, just breaking up. Congrats for everything Mike, you are the authority here on YT.
This is a most incredible performance of one of my all time favorite Beatle songs! Thank you for the very important "War is Over!" poster. Peace and Love!
I started learning this great song a couple weeks ago from another RU-vid guitar teacher. What I’ve learned from your in depth tutorial is fantastic. Thank you.
I really Love These Beatles Videos, your videos are for free so it's like your a cool uncle who teaches you all the beatles songs and knows so much about them! So great that it's documented and I can always play it back! Thank you mike, always excited go see a new one.
Why weren't you my guitar teacher growing up? I learn so much from you on how to really play these Beatles' songs the right way. I just love the little intricate details you share that make the songs sound like the recordings. Thanks, Mike. You didn't let me down. On a related note: I am a lifelong Beatles' fan. They are my favorite group of all time. I have had the honor of seeing Sir Paul live 5 times in my lifetime. He happens to also be my favorite Beatle though I love them all.
Again...thanks Mike for showing the world the genius guitar work between John and George. You are a very good player yourself and deserve a lot of credit for "breaking down in detail" these great Beatles tunes.
I'll never forget the first time I played this song on The Beatles Rock Band game, and now I'm learning it on the real guitar a little over a decade later. I love this song with a passion lol.
Many thanks for this, Mike. GREAT lesson. George was a genius. 'One After 909' (the 'Rooftop' version, of course) is a also a superb example of his genius for miniimal, melodic playing.
Clicked 'like' straight away and then spent the next 21 mins smiling! Great song from The Beatles, one of my faves. You're super cool Mike Pachelli! Thanks brother!
Mike Pachelli is my favourite music related channel on RU-vid, I just love the way he teaches, love how talented he is, and love his humour, great work!
That was great Mike. They suerly were geniuses. They sound as good and as fresh today as the day I first heard them back in 1963 when I was in 7th grade.
I remember watching the mike pachelli show on a local start up video channel in the early 80s called wtmv 32 out of central fla used to enjoy watching , good to see you still playing great music
I love Mike's lessons. With this song and singing it now we can tell how John's voice was amazing rough and beautiful. And Paul added his voice what a harmony. Thank you Mike for helping us to learn this beautiful song, one of my favorite songs from The Beatles.
Mike .....you are awesome ! Thank you so much for your videos. You are an amazing artist and teacher in your own right. The best Beatles music guitar teacher on RU-vid.
Mike Pachelli, once again, this is great! You are the best Beatle RU-vid guitarist/explainer. Keep these videos going Mike, they are absolutely wonderful and everyone else agrees. You are a gem
Fabulous video! Incredible Harrison part, gorgeous voicing, funky snycopation and so original. Your lessons continually inspire me to expand my skills! Thanks, Mike.
Mike, that was beautifully demonstrated and explained, your videos have really progressed, especially with the great demo at the end. Excellent, and thank you. Hope this one brings you many new admirers, you deserve it. 👏
Amazing how George and Billy make this song seem so much more complex and daunting than the 3 chord nature buried beneath. Great video! Thanks for making this!
Man I got to say you do a fantastic job, I was a true Beatles fan back in the day, they were true musicians, and you are very talented, through hard work, love of music.... thanks
Well done Mike, real cool. I will be working on this. I have been watching your videos for a while and they are getting good ,Thanks for all your great help and time you must put into this.
I love the look on your face at the end when you realise you've actually done the vocals justice. Thanks for all these videos, I've learned an awful lot in a short time thanks to you. The funny thing is, when Let It be was first broadcast on the BBC in the UK, my elder brother recorded the film on reel-to-reel and it was being constantly played in our house, and the version of this song is the take where John flubs the second verse, singing what sounds like "Oneresrisi gatbibluyigoo" and for years that was the only version I knew (I was about seven, so this really stuck in my mind). Anyway, sorry for waffling on and thanks again!
I've played this before at parties and it typically gets people's attention being as iconic and recognizable a song as it is. But I mostly chunked through it laboriously by ear. Thanks for this post. Now I can perfect the George nuances - especially that middle walk down. I was playing it in a box and unnaturally forced the slides. Your method is more appealing and natural.
Thank you Mike!!! I'm a high beginner/low intermediate player and this has always been a go-to for me because its easy to play and sing at the same time and fits my vocal range. The little fills you showed on the John part made my version of this ten times better. Thank you, love your channel.
Just wanted to hear this song tonight, with the rain, and damn, or perhaps Glory Be! - but Mike's singing (and the guitboxs) FEEL SO ... absolutely perfect. John smiles. The Rain smiles, hope you are well Mike. The voice, what a powerful thing. Thanks.
Very nice! Fully explained and detailed! Also...what a extra ending Bonus, you put it all together with both guitars for the complete song. Now that's a guitar lesson! Thanks!
