Bentley's sporting pedigree arguably began with its Le Mans dominance in the 1920s. Bentley Motors gave Paul Guinness the chance to ride in this priceless piece of motoring history!

When you drive it You can definitely see why James Bond (of the novels not the films) was so in love with this masterpiece of a car that he maintained it for as long as he did and why Ian Fleming had chosen it as the bond car

There's nothing quite like driving a well sorted Vintage Bentley. I've had my 4.5 for 22 years and never get tired of driving it.

I want that straight-cut gearbox, supercharged engine noise as a ring tone....

The original James Bond car - a 1933 4.5-litre convertible in battleship grey with an Amherst-Villiers supercharger and Marchal headlamps.

Actually it was a 1930 model 1933 was when bond had bought it. This type of Bentley was discontinued in 1931

What a great car, truly awesome. It was a pity though that the audio, perhaps understandably, was so poor.

Bentley really do have so much better an appreciation of their target market than R-R. While R-R are intent on appealing to "rule-breakers & iconoclasts", Bentley go out and recreate racing specials for enthusiasts. That is the way to bring in customers.

Yes very true. Bentley are also much more hands on with construction, it’s not what it once was but they do still adjust the pressings - I’ve noticed modern Bentleys do, or did anyway, have immaculate fit and finish on the body if nothing else, perfect panel gaps. It’s mostly just body files and hammers though, not really coach building like back in the day. Rolls Royce use far more plastic body panels and the fit is poor now on some I’ve seen. I think Rolls just slap panels on willy nilly now.

Beautiful car. I love how much of it is made of copper, like that little mount/shield, with a riveted bent aluminium plate (with something mounted facing bulkhead I guess), castle nuts on the bottom of the copper prongs. Old school cool.

I think technically the Alvis Bertelli coupe and Lancefield tourer would be some of the first pre-war continuation cars, 1935 and 1938, the originals. I’m pretty sure they embarked on that journey a little bit before Bentley did. Chronologically of course the Bentley is an earlier car. Any chance Classics World could visit Alvis and check out how the continuation line is going? They don’t have a big social media presence and could use the publicity. I don’t believe they have the money to build all of the allotted number of cars all at once. I think they’ve done like 1 of each and the rest is on request. 220k or so, bargain quite frankly. The Graber Alvis is probably the finest looking motor car of all time, and supremely underrated. That would be a dream video of mine and interesting to the pre-war, coachbuilding and Bentley/Rolls people too, especially as Park Ward built many bodies for Alvis and Rolls and Bentley. I am fairly positive they have actually built at least 1 continuation, maybe it’s not finished, maybe the press photos are the original cars. I have seen images of them literally building an entire body from scratch though, Graber or Park Ward. They’re much like the Bentley, very few changes from original.

But that's the thing, any idiot can buy a modern supercar (or Tesla!) and go 0-60 mph in less than 3 seconds with zero skill needed but this, or any pre war car, takes real skill to make it do anything! But yes, unless that's the thing you like I can see it being painful. The other thing is modern cars are nearly zero maintenance. Or at least with modern supercars expensive maintenance done by someone else. Pre war cars need a lot of looking after. I suspect the typical buyers of the continuation series pay people to do that for them? They mentioned training on how to drive them, do they get trained on how to maintain them too?
