Is there any of your products that are great to use on an old BMW petrol engine?
@ecstuning

Yes! All of Liqui Moly's engine additives are safe to use on a BMW petrol engine. We have a video about those coming out soon! It may be good to use LM's Engine Flush with Certec and the Valve Clean to start as well as the MoS 2 Engine Friction treatment. Here is a link with those products: bit.ly/3rpFE5O

3:06 this could not be further from the truth. DPF is designed to collect soot. When sensors measure ~20g (20%) of soot in the DPF, computer stars the process of self cleaning aka regeneration. Which means system is working as it should. This happens every 300-600km without even you noticing it.

In this overview we are generally describing “All” DPF systems. Yes you are correct, and we did not mention your point as many vehicles will do this process automatically at 20% soot load as you described. On many fleet vehicles the regeneration button is actually on the dashboard to be used by the operator when alerted too. When you start a regeneration the vehicle will run at high idle speeds and in the case of DEF fluid equipped vehicles, they will also add this to the process as well. However, many Diesel passenger vehicles require this process to be done manually and with a scan tool when the automatic regeneration will not activate due to higher percentages (at or above 20%). BMW X5 VW’s and Mercedes ML350, Sprinter vans, and many fleet vehicles have been serviced successfully in shops globally with this tool. The other mechanical repair option is to remove the DPF filter and have it baked in and oven or pressure cleaned. The LIQUI MOLY “on car” DPF cleaning system allows you to clean most DPF filters on the vehicle, effectively with much less labor cost, but will require a manually induced regeneration. You can also use this tool as preventative maintenance annually to reduce the operational fleet costs of eventually having to replacing the DPF filter.

ECS tuning is right. Even tho most of the time the Regen is happening behind the scenes in Certain cases such as (using your diesel vehicle as a grocery getter) never driving at high rpm on the highway you will end up clogging your DPF filter and will need to do a Manual Regen (sitting in neutral and holding engine at 2500 rpm until Regen initiates) or a Forced Regen ( using a app such as Alfaobd (dodge/jeep trucks) or a scan tool which will make the computer automatically rev your engine up to 2500 rpm) it is extremely important to understand what a product is designed for. If you want to reduce the need for Regens then their are many products for that but if you want an additive to help with a Manual or Forced Regen then you need to be sure to get the right product (which are far less common) because the DPF maintenance additives increase temperature so soot is burnt off easier during normal vehicle use but these increased temperatures can also hurt these same systems when you are already increasing temps with a Forced or Manual Regen. Finally it’s extremely important to know that a DPF system that is constantly clogging or a needing a Regen is a symptom of another problem. The most common causes are a person not driving these vehicles to highway speeds enough (they are not designed to be driven only in town or in traffic) do not let a car/light truck diesels sit and idle forever. Once it is at operating temps i is time to drive and make sure you are getting then rpm’s up to 2500 for a 10-15 min period once every couple of days that you drive. Also not doing regular oil changes. Please don’t wait on changing your oil and please use the right type of oil and filter. And finally it’s caused by your intake manifold being clogged up by nasty contamination from the EGR and crank case oil blowback. My Ecodiesel should have never been designed without a oil catch for the blowback and unfortunately it’s all because of the emissions requirements for diesels, i support clean diesels but we need to find a better way of reducing emmisons then just adding exhaust air back into our motors it’s the equivalent of taking a Tylenol to reduce your fever and thinking that it’s going to bacterial infection. Clogged DPF filters are a symptom of a motor that isn’t functioning right or isn’t being used in the right way. I blame the car dealers for not explaining that enough to new owners, especially in the USA where we are far behind Europe in the knowledge of small diesel vehicles

I think he’s getting confused between a DPF which regens to clean and an SCR that uses DEF to clean it.

The regeneration is the process when computer tells that your emission sistem doesnt work properly? Seriously? Thats what he says? Lol. Thats BS. If the emission sistem doesnt work properly there will be NO REGEN and dpf will get clogged, before that you will get warning light, safe mode etc... If people like him works on additives then i will never again buy Liqui Moly stuff, thats for sure 🙂
