While the TBM 960 is a standout aircraft in the single-engine turboprop segment, it is not the only heavyweight representative; one of its closest competitors is the Epic E1000. The performance characteristics are quite similar; the Epic E1000 started commercial production in 2020, so it is a modern and recent aircraft. It is powered by a Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-67 turboprop engine, which equips a 4-bladed Hartzell propeller with full reverse. It achieves a maximum cruise speed of 325 knots, although its recommended flight speed is 265 knots for best fuel economy.
