I'll try that because my result just tasted salty and not flavorful at all. Plus I kept mine on the stove for several hours...it just wouldn't get tender. I only used the triple not the foot...not sure if that changed anything. I also strained my chile mix like I saw on another video.
Thank you for this recipe, I'm currently making it right now. Since I was little when sick my mom would make chicken noodle soup, yukk. So, I would run down to my friend's house and her mom would cook me some Menudo with corn tortillas and this white girl was converted at that point. Every time after that I got sick, I would call my bf and her mom would make me a whole pot. This recipe is perfect now I can't wait to eat it and make it again. Thank you for making it easy.
To tone down the tripe off-odor I blanch it in a large pot of boiling lightly salted water for a minute or so. Drain and proceed. If the honeycomb tripe is whole, blanch it whole then cut it up. It's so much easier to cut that way. If you want a richer broth, use a pound or so of fresh chicken feet. Put them in a cheese cloth bundle so after they give their collagen to the broth, you can easily remove them. Just saying. Thank you Claudia for the excellent instructional. Stay safe.
I like to wash all my meats with salt, white vinegar and water wash first… then blanch it in salted boiling water for a minute. drain and rinse well before proceeding to prepare it in meals… definitely helps eliminate the meat odors.
I used to wait in line for 30 minutes or more for fresh menudo on Sunday mornings at my local Latino delicatessen. Would bring my own pot as did many others. Best thing for a hangover with a cold beer 💖. I've never tried to make it before, will have to make a run to my (not so local) Super Mercado Latino in Fresno and get some tripas! Thanks Claudia!
I love everything about your videos..I can't wear white and you COOK in it🤪 seriously though, your voice is soothing and you give all ingredients plus the correct measure..as well as how to prepare some before using. I also appreciate how you "rinse" your blending cup, not toss in sink like other cooks..this makes the most of your ingredients like real people, no waste..saving and stretching your dollar. I like that you made your menudo with hominy. I find a majority of restaurants will serve menudo with all tripe but I need that hominy to soak up the lime!
I grew up eating it with hominy, but much later, my father-in-law mentioned that it is really common in the state of chihuahua to not have hominy. I like both, but the hominy adds another texture, and it soaks up the lime beautifully.
I've eaten menudo off and on for 40 years and just two months ago I had it without hominy for the first time ever. It was still good, but I like the hominy.
I tried your method for cooking turkey and everyone loved it! I used butter and an oven bag but made a sage turkey 🦃 instead. My dad is going to help me make menudo this holiday season and I’ll use some of your tips. My dad blanches it twice to clean it and it takes away the grease.

You are not going to believe this but I use to eat Juanita’s store bought menudo until I heard what they put in it to preserve it. So happy to see your easy recipe and now I will be making my own at home 👍🏼👍🏼
My grandma used to make delicious menudo but she passed away last year before Christmas. I love my menudo during the winter months. Thanks for this video!

I totally enjoy all your videos. I have a passion for authentic Mexican cuisine. I went to a restaurant a few nights ago and had the Menudo. That was my first time. I was not completely happy with it. One, it didn't have any hominy. I LOVE HOMINY. Secondly, it had an earthy smell /tste to it. I tried to enjoy it but wasn't able to. Today I am going to buy a can of Juanitas and see if I can reset the flavor I experienced. Side note, I have made your pazole rojo many times and thoroughly enjoy it. I even make it for my friends who love it too. One friend who is from Mexico has said it is the best she has ever had. Hats off to you Claudia. WIshing your family a prosperous and healthy NEW YEAR!!
