My boxer has hemangiosarcoma! She is now on her 3rd month with a prognosis of 3 days! Definitely holistic foods and the other supplements that the doctor has mentioned have been given to her! I am trying to find everything and anything that vets that believe as I do help keep my baby a quality of life! She has gained back her weight and one would never know she has cancer! My conventional vet cannot believe how great she is doing! He asked what I am doing! I told him but I asked why don’t the majority of vets learn this!❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you!

I bet ur conventional vet doesnt really care...bcuz if he started recommending a healthy raw diet to sick animals he will go out of business bcuz the animals wont need his surgery and drugs.

Starts at 5:40 - Brief summary of the foods that aid health: Sardines, fish in general omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin D, B12, smaller fish at the beginning of food chain are best i.e sardines rather than tuna, packed in water preferably, 1 sardine three times per week for a 20 lb dog. However if sardines are good for your dog I would give them as much as they want 🌞 just my opinion. Turkey Tail mushrooms, and some other mushrooms chopped finely and lightly cooked (not too hot or prolonged cooking), use stems as well. Brussels spouts, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage. Low sugar berries, such as blueberries, strawberries, etc (red, blue or black coloured berries). Although not mentioned in this video, I believe carrots are good for dogs too. If cooking a nice stew of carrots, brussel sprouts (or any of the vegetables mentioned) perhaps add some dried or fresh herbs such as parsley or oregano as some are believed to be advantageous to health. Probably worth looking into. One point, if cooking with olive oil, do not heat it above warm as this changes it's structure as is not as healthy, also some vegetable fats are highly processed and not at all natural (sunflower, rapeseed, corn oil, these cause inflammation). Best wishes

Carrots are delicious and healthy for most dogs to eat, we just tend to shy away from offering them to dogs with cancer due to their high simple sugar content. And a big yes to using herbs like basil, parsley and oregano -- here is our article! www.dogcancer.com/articles/diet-and-lifestyle/parsley-basil-oregano/

Great video! My dog has cancer and I've been feeding her all the foods mentioned since her diagnosis in August 2023! She's slowing down some but I'm so glad to know that I've been feeding her foods that may help her stay with me for a little longer.

Sardines with bones and skin packed in water are great for my cat too. Three times a week as a topper. I give my dog Turkey tail mushroom pills. I’ts great that dogs can eat the same mushrooms that we eat. Can we give our dogs resveratrol in supplement form? This was a interesting video! Thank you

Hello! Just found your channel. Great information on nutrition to have just for general health. I prepare home cooked food for my now one year old Golden Doodle, since we got him at 8 weeks old. I do steam his veggies but I do pressure cook his chicken for larger batch, portion out his food and freeze what needs to be frozen. Is a pressure cooker a no, no for cooking his chicken?
@DogCancer
@DogCancer 6 месяцев назад
Pressure cookers are fantastic, because they use pressure, NOT heat, to cook the food. Great choice!

Question about sardines/ Omega 3s and dogs with Hemangiosarcoma. I’ve been told that Omega 3s have blood thinning properties and we don’t want that with Hemangiosarcoma. Can anyone verify this to be true?
@DogCancer
@DogCancer 2 месяца назад
Yes, omega 3 fatty acids in general do have some mild blood-thinning properties. The precaution with hemangiosarcoma is that it's a cancer of the lining of the blood vessels, so by definition, if a tumor ruptures, there's a real possibility it will put a literal hole in the blood vessel. This will cause it to bleed, right? It will bleed whether the blood is super thick or super thin. However, if the blood is thinner, it takes longer to coagulate (plugging up the hole and starting to heal the blood vessel, if possible). If the tumor is on the outside of the body, and it starts bleeding, it may be easier to stop the bleeding than if it's deep inside the body, where we can't see it. The concern with hemangio is always -- will my dog bleed out? This is a risk for every hemangiosarcoma case, even dogs who aren't taking omega 3 supplements or eating omega 3 rich foods. The truth is once a catastrophic bleed starts, it is difficult to stop it without immediate medical intervention -- and even then, veterinarians are usually not successful at stopping a big bleed. It's not how quickly or how slowly the blood coagulates that is the problem in these cases, it's how big or small the hole is :-( We always suggest asking your veterinarian about any diet or supplement change, but in general, since dogs need omega 3 fatty acids for health in general AND they help fight cancer ... and since omega 3's are nearly impossible to avoid, and since sardines are delicious ... letting your dog have a sardine or two once in a while probably has more benefits than risks, even if your dog has hemangiosarcoma. But check with your veterinarian! Here's our article on hemangiosarcoma: www.dogcancer.com/articles/types-of-dog-cancer/hemangiosarcoma-in-dogs/ And on sardines: www.dogcancer.com/articles/diet-and-lifestyle/sardines-for-dogs/

Here's our article on Brussels sprouts: www.dogcancer.com/articles/diet-and-lifestyle/brussels-sprouts/ And on berries: www.dogcancer.com/articles/diet-and-lifestyle/berries-for-dogs/ The amounts vary based on weight and what else you are feeding, but you'll see some basic guidelines in those articles. @@DogCancer I'm sorry I should have been clearer in my question. I was thinking in term of the broccoli sprouts that you mentioned in the video. My dog has lymphoma and I'm wanting to give him broccoli sprouts for the sulfurophane (sp?). He is a 30 pound dog and I'm not sure how much to give him per day.
@DogCancer
@DogCancer 3 месяца назад
@@Corgi_Saurus just sprinkle them on top of the food -- think of how much you would use in a salad for yourself, and then make it equivalent -- just a sprinkle every couple days will give a nice crunchy surprise and that extra goodness!

@@DogCancer Im more interested in getting him sulfurophane to try and maybe protect from him coming out of remission with lymphoma. The video was about foods that help protect dogs, so I'm looking for what is an appropriate dose from a medical perspective
