I know this is an old video but I just want to say my mother has used LAs Totally Awesome at full strength around the house and has never harmed anything. It’s pretty awesome for lack of better words.
I have used several product from Chemical Guys. Their products for matte paint is okay. Now, VRP is my go to produce every time. I use on the exterior only, especially for tires. As you had mentioned, More than likely the two products are the same, just different labels. From my experience using them, they both do exactly the same thing!
Use cleaners without sodium hydroxide. That stuff is used to remove paint. I just got some mean green garage and auto. That is the difference in it and regular mean green. Supposedly, it’s safe on painted surfaces and pretty much anything besides acrylic, aluminum, and leather.
Scott, You may need to do a video of dilutions on these products and what you would use them for, especially if one product can be used foe multiple uses. Love the vids!!
Scott, I'm new to your channel, but I love you, in my world I'm just a do it yourselfer, I like to take car of my ride and my wife's. I have 2014 Sonota Venetian Red Pearl she has a 2013 gray Ford Escape. I have bought purple power, meguiars wax, I do everything by hand, super clean, furniture police for tires matte.finish. I also use back to black for trim and tires stuff works great in my world. Bought my hydroshot because of you, different soaps love that Blue Coral for my weekly washes. Bought ultimate fast finish I use as a sealant works great, use Gold soap by meguires as well. Little brushes for the Detail work inside vehicle. Armor all timeless.wash for interior very good. My world is brighter because of you and don't over thing the moment.... Sometimes so much product it gets confusing... Love you buddy, be well and safe, Rick, from NYC.
Dear Scot. I watch your videos about paint polishing and they are great. You are very helpful. This video got me thinking, how many millions tons of those chemicals are produced on the world and how much of that goes back to water cleaning station facility's. And how many millions tons simply sinks down to the soil. How much energy was used to produce and how much poison was created as the side product. Just so we can have clean drive ways, cars, tractors... and what ever else power washer can clean. All machines will eventually end up on scrap yard. As we all. I'm relay happy to see person like you who is developing and searching continuously. Because if you don't swim against the river you go down with the current. You have to know that your videos (the mentoring way) are very inspiring. So thank you for your effort.
Hi from Brazil. I'm thinking start a mobile detail business all information that you show on videos it's so precious and valuable. I like the way you pass your knowledge. For me some times is hard understand you some detailers say, because they speak so dawn fast, but not you. Keep doing this amazing job.
Simple Green HD Heavy Duty Cleaner is amazing for wheels. One of the few products that i can spray on, and pressure wash off and actually have clean wheels.
I haven't tried nearly as much stuff as you, but for engine bays and tires/wheel wells take your pick of "the purples"; they're all the same to me. For everything thing else, including in the house, I use CG Nonsense @ 10:1 dilution. Haven't come across anything it can't handle. I've even toyed with the idea of adding some dye and scent to it to get my wife onboard. She needs a fancy bottle and claims of "natural", "organic", "environmentally friendly", and a high price tag to be satisfied. My only question would be if it's worth the trouble and added cost to use distilled water to dilute it with. I have very soft water at home.
OK one more thing the purple cleaner I cleaned my friends entire house with two bottles yes it was that bad and I’m talking about the humongous bottles that is concentrate I got a bunch of spray bottles and rags even my swiffer connected the rag to my swiffer cleaner walls floors everything furniture you name it this stuff is amazing. For the big big big bottle like I said can’t remember how many ounces is in it but that being said I spent maybe nine bucks for those largest one that they have any way back to detailing my vehicle that’s why I’ve been watching all your videos cause I’m in the back of my house detailing today thank you for all the tips much appreciated
New subscriber ! Love your videos. One word of caution on LA Totally Awesome Cleaner. I used it for years ( part time detailer ) I loved the way it takes brake dust off wheels. I noticed my hands would dry out and redden a bit. I did some research on the toxicity. It states it biodegradable and safe for the environment . But it has a dangerous chemical in it. ( can't remember the name ) I started to ALWAYS WEAR 9MM Nitrile Gloves, when working with chemicals. I switched to Brown Royal which is made locally and sold on Amazon. It is non acidic and is an amazing cleaner for brake dust. Safe for all metals, cleans the tires at the same time and if you get some on the paint, no problem. Love your channel ! I'm addicted to watching all of them !
I too dilute purple power 5:1 and it’s pretty strong. I use on wheels and rim to soak before washing. Gets brake dust off but rinse as you wash the car. Never seen a problem on my wheels but I will wax them. PP gets out stains well and gets off tar as well.
I had no idea when you buy a product in a spray bottle its suppose to be diluted with water. Seems odd and kind of a pain, so essentially a person needs to have several empty spray bottles around to dilute the products with. It would make sense to be able to just buy them and use them right off the shelf. Without watching your videos I would still be using a couple products at full strength made by Chemical Brothers and the dollar store product as well. Lastly do you thing everyone overthinks all this stuff too much? 5 to 1 over 4 to 1 etc..... its not like we are mixing oil in gas where not enough oil will grenade your motor. Keep up the videos. I am learning a lot! Thank You
I pull a wealth of info from your video's. You crack me up, your garage is just like mine, a frigging mess, lived in, comfortable. And lookit here, your pants are dirty, like mine are. But you are money in the bank to me, great, Earthy, experience on tap. Of course, the money is evaporating and running down the driveway making my poop shine. Thanks!
For purple power it is misleading but I feel they mean to say to not use it on trim or directly on paint that’s just my guess though, I’ve used it on tires and rims in a foamier diluted 4:1 with dawn dish soap and I never have any issues
@DallasPaintCorrection&AutoDetailing- Great video! You mentioned 'whitening' attributes twice, I think for LA's and Purple Power. Would you say that either of those works well like Westley's Bleche White used to work? I see Westley's has been discontinued when trying to shop for it and read a lot of reviews that the newer version is not the same chemical make-up and doesn't work as well... Came across your video when trying to search for replacements. Please advise! Thanks for the great videos on comparing products! :)
Purple Power is all well all purpose cleaner that works for me it does cause a little problem on certain rims aluminum and alloy rims no problem but when you come to chrome rims when you're using that product you can't spray it on all tires and then begin to work you need to do one tire at a time because if that chemical sits on a chrome rim it will cause you to have to polish that rim
I used Awesome, very little, maybe 15 ml in 3 gallons of water when I washed my car and it didn't go well. It damaged the clear coat and I was seeing the bright specs of my car paint in the windows. Great to clean your engine though (been using it since 199), way cheaper and more effective than the degreaser sprays sold in the auto parts store.
The best APC hands down is called Solution. It’s made by a company called Shine Supply. I am a professional detailer and just like you have tried everything. I am a very big carpro fan And use their products for many years, but shine supply it’s just completely on another level. You have to try this product. I’ve been a professional detailer for over 20 years myself so I’m hoping you’ll try this product because you will thank me. In addition, they have a product called ride N shine which is their detailer spray. When using ride n shine, not only is it so easy to use but it makes your car look like it was just ceramic coated. They also have the most amazing rubber tire cleaner which blows away everything on the market by far. I am telling you you need to try their products, I’m serious you will thank me.
Never use purple power on a powder coated wheel. It once left streaks on flat black powder coated wheels. Other than that I use it daily. Your videos are awesome!
i use total awsome i did a car carpet with total awsome took the stain right off also if u habe bugs in the bumber spray leave flr like a minute and pressure wash it works great and its only a buck
Love your videos; always thumbs up and a subscriber. I wanted to point out that you say, "to be completely honest with you" so often. It is as if to say, "I'm being completely honest with you now, even though I'm not always honest with you". Can't we already assume you are being completely honest in the first place? I mean when I hear that, I wonder why anyone needs to quantify that they're being honest at this time.
Have you ever used the foam cannon or your soaps on a boat? We have a medium cruiser and it takes longer to complete areas. Being able to have more time would be incredible. So if you’ve tried, how does it work with fiberglass , spotting, environmental factors like salt.
What's wrong with Simple Green?! Anywho, when using these APC's on the interior, dash, door cards etc. Do you have to "rinse" them off the panel with a damp microfiber towel?
Contains potassium hydroxide, basically lye which is why you dont want it in contact with alminum in concentrated form for any long time. But it's good stuff for the $$
I love your videos and energy. You've done videos about bottles, all purpose cleaners, and products you use. What about doing a video about clay bars and ... do you wear gloves? If so, what type?
Do yourself a favor and give Majestic Solutions APC a try...they make several. The one that i have found to work the best for multiple applications is Tidal Wave! Foams extremely well, leaves virtually no residue. Interiors to wheels and tires and leather...no problem. Very inexpensive in comparison to other APC's. You can buy it off their website or if you are ever in the Raleigh area:)....they do have a brick and mortar store.
I use Totally Awesome daily, have yet to find anything that works as good on carpets and seats , bug removal ect. at 3 bucks a half gallon you can't beat it.
What are y'all preferred dilution ratios for Totally Awesome? Ive been using a 10:1 as I've been scared to go any less as strong as it seems to be. ever used it on leather seats?
i use meguiars apc or super degreaser on leather...but i also have seen great results with purple power on leather at 8:1...totally awesome on leather would be around 8:1 as well but i haven't tried on lots of leather so make sure you double check....have you tried at 10:1 with Totally awesome on leather?
I'm sure i'm in the minority here when I tell you I use it full strength. It just works so well and for the price I don't worry about diluting it. I've tried diluting and I just don't like it as much. Clean leather with it all the time. I pretty much clean the whole inside of the car with it and a damp microfiber towel, then go over everything with spray wax for a nice shine. Been using it for over 2 years now with no issues . keep in mind that at full strength it will clean whatever it touches and if you drip some on plastic, leather ect. It will leave a clean spot so you'll have to go over that whole area with it to match it up. It's not an issue for me because i'm cleaning everything anyway. If you don't plan on cleaning the seats, don't drip any on them..
Scott have you tried Poor Boys World.. I was stuck on Meg's. Untill I started using Poor Boys world . But like you. Im always searching and recently got my hands on some Bilt Hamlin and that's some amazing stuff too. I love both of these products because they come with clear cut dilution ratios on the product. You can every square inch of a car no matter the surface its Why I liked Meg's. But I feel those two products just do it better
Are we being ripped off , if we step.away from car brand products and look at citrus apc used for general cleaning the prices are 1 1/4 of car based products
I use Carpro products about 80% of the time. But for degreasers (things I use the most of) I want to go with a cheaper brand. Might pick up some purple power and dilute 5/1 after seeing this.
Hey Scott, have you used the Totally Awesome on leather? Bottle says not to, but I have seen some people do it. Just wondering from your side of it's a good idea
Hi Scott...what’s the safest way to take off shiny dressing that a crappy detailer wiped all over the interior of my car? I want to get the factory new car matte finish back.
You want to remove old sealants or waxes, Citrol 266. That stuff is no joke. Sealant killer for sure. I wouldn't recommend that stuff for normal weekend detailer. It's crazy strong
Scott what’s the best way to keep my bran new 2018 f-150 looking like new? Can you give me a list of thing must have/buy. Is PP good to us on my new truck? After using PP spraying Maguire's Ultimate fast finish is that the only thing I will need to use after that? And on wheeler cleaners what do you recommend?
Scott, super clean or purple power? which one is better or do you prefer? is one a better degreaser than the other or one a better APC than the other does either one have the same power as zep in the engine bay
Hey pal John from Northport LongIsland again @Carefree Auto Detailing love the vid and like you have experienced the same thing as you with trying it all and have it narrowed down to most of what you have. How is that citral hope I spelled it right it was the last one you had you mentioned it takes off road paint and here on LongIsland they are always doing the lines on the road lol. Didn't you say you're from here as well that's our accent lol. Thanks keep up the great vids
hey John...good to hear from you..it works great on yellow road paint and amazing on road tar!..i have noticed for whatever reason white road paint from the white lines on streets can be a little hard to remove plus a lot of spray paints in cans can be removed with citrol...its called citrol...yes I'm from long island, my family is still out by stony brook and middle island
Hello sir, I am your one of a follower. Please help me out if you can. I moved to india. Used to live in Toronto. I am about to open up a auto detailing business in Punjab but here is the thing.... i need some knowledge about how many BHP this business requires... I have no clue about it. I will be using 2 polishing machines (LHR MARK ii 15) & (3d Hd Polisher, dual action as well) just to start with. Since new business. 2 ridgid vacuum cleaners 12 gallon 20 to 30 tube lights (depending how much light i need on a certain job afcourse. So won'tbe using them all at once or all the time). 4 Fans 1 pressure washer 1 compressor 3 phase Afcourse a motor to fill water tank And a steam cleaner extractor(Mytee company). May be HP120 May be 4 bulbs and 1 heavy light for paint correction. Not sure how many BHP required. Here in India they are asking about these things. Don't know how watts, BHP and all these things work. And my math is the worst. I don't wanna pay for a anything extra af course so sharing these details. It might give u guys an idea what my requirement is. Please help me out. See if you can spare some time. Thanks
i think its a great product as well Joe...your comment is worth more than 2 cents my friend..i love trying products and I'm sure i will try many more over the next few years...thanks for your support
Hmm, recent video but no mention of Super Clean...??? You've gushed about how much you like it, and have worn the t-shirts, but no mention of it or where/how it ranks in your stable... Or is this just an older video, relatively speaking....?
at the making of this video i was still testing super clean and wasn't ready to recommend it till my testing was done...i have many products i love but don't always discuss on my channel until I'm ready after months of testing and on many different cars and surfaces...i also have products i love but will never discuss because they aren't available to the public and will never be unless your in the auto body industry...much love Don
No--no license is required to buy these products--it's just that the manufacturers only sell "to the trade"--mostly because they have a captive niche market with professionals, and don't want to mess that monopoly up by letting "average Joes" clean their own vehicles and risk diluting their profits from their captive niche customers... ;-)
Hi Scott what do you think about mixing onr dilution along with degreaser dilution for interior cleaning? I know both can be used individually as cleaners for interiors but do you think the combo may be more effective?
Thers a video on RU-vid where a detailer mixes super clean with American Garage Details Wipeout which is a Rinseless wash like ONR and he uses it as a interior detailer
Best apc autoglanz infinite apc 5ltrs around £30 can be diluted upto 200:1 but you can't get it in America even though they have international shipping
I know this is an old post, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Have you tried 303 aerospace all purpose cleaner? I'm curious as to what you think of it if you have.
I got a gallon of Mother’s apc. After watching your videos I saw that you can use all purpose cleaner is for cleaning DA pads and for the interior. I diluted it down to 6 to 1 And all my interior is covered in a white film now. Is it not diluted enough? What do I do to get rid of this residue?
I sprayed purple power in my engine bay, waited 5 minutes, and when I began to clean my engine bay, it turned the oily aluminum valve cover into a white, crusty, mess. The valve cover looked permanently pitted and I could never clean the white crust off completely. Any suggestions for an aluminum-safe APC?
I've used purple power on a motorcycle and it ate through my vinyl gloves and desentagrated my bristled brushes.... I would never get that stuff close to any plastics/vinyl. Ever.
I was listening to an episode of JImbo Balaam's podcast and there was talk about a shop using Purple Power on interiors and it faded the interior over the course of 12 - 24 months. They may have been using it undiluted, just be careful with some of these.
i have seen meguiars apc do the same...i have seen power clean by optimum do the same..the truth is over time interior plastic will vent and outgas and just about any cleaner will do the same...Jimbo uses a gorilla cleaner on carpet,i have seen that stuff stain carpet so bad but we all just have to know that the materials inside cars were not meant to last forever but they need to be cleaned...the truth is finding the best cleaner is still a on going process for us all
Rich, like Scott said - thru all the years it's normal it will get a bit faded. I've been using many, many apc, in Europe we don't have wall mart and that super stuff so I ordered from US just to see is it really good...
yes i have used adams...they are just not business friendly but their products are great..i like things that i can dilute and stretch my dollar but adams makes great products...i will say I'm not a big fan of their compounds and polishes:(
I've had the chemical guys nonsense cleaner surprise me with some pretty dirty surfaces before that I didn't think would come clean. It does a great job for maintaining my interior
