I love my mariner4. Going on 5 yrs with it. My tip to avoid over inflation, pump it up firm but pay close attention to it when it's in the sun and occasionally burp it and let some air out. If you pump it firm in the cool shade of the morning you'll be over inflated in the afternoon sun.

I did forget to mention to watch out for over inflation due to temp, yea I burb mine too when needed.

Yup....I am on my second Marnier 4, and good God do I LOVE IT!! First thing I did was get a two piece hard floor, wasn't hard I just used the stock floor and traced it out. Painted it and put outdoor carpeting on it, makes it so much more stable. Got the deep cycle 110 amp hour battery as well with the box, I have two swivel bass boat folding seats on 8" risers with a cooler that fits right inside the inner walls, so I can store whatever I need in there and it can also be a third seat! I just got a Garmin fish finder and transom mount to put on the piece of treated and painted plywood I cut to fit behind my chair and over the battery section, mounted another trolling rod holder there as well. Best thing is that I can break this boat down with everything for it and fit it into my Hyundai Tucson with room to spare. Setup only takes like 30 minutes to go from back of the car to the water!

That's exactaly what I love about mine, very sturdy, easy to set up and tear down.... Overall one of the best portable boats around.... I just tested new props on it and man I wish I would have sooner........

I finally got into fishing again since my dad passed. Never owned a boat of any kind. This one will be my first. Getting a 12v 100ah battery so I can be out there a lot. Can’t wait.

The quality of these rafts are sweet. I have one thats going on 15 years now with countless lake trips and river floats. The 2x4 and rod holder is something I may have to do for mine since I love trolling on some of the lakes where I'm at and don't always want to drag my 14ft boat up

@mechengineer4894
@mechengineer4894 8 месяцев назад
I beg to differ. Tobin Sports 11ft inflatable with a hard floor and a solid transom to attach an outboard up to 15hp with no need for a motor mount and back plate. And there's room to spare to add a trolling motor. Seen it on sale at Costco for $460 a few times. There's a video of it paired with a $430 Hangkai 2 stroke 6hp outboard and they were able to get the boat to plane and accelerate to a decent speed. With the outboard doing all the heavy lifting, it gives you the option of adding a lower capacity battery and a lower performance trolling motor. I would think just the price of the 100aH battery in your list could get you the lower capacity battery and trolling motor. The first time I was able to get an inflatable boat to plane was an 11ft Zodiac paired with a 6hp Yamaha and it was sweet.

Those boats definitely did not cost that when I bought my Mariner. Those rafts you are talking about were like 600$ at minimum. I’m not sure about the brand but I know I looked at just about every inflatable raft from $3 to $3,000😂

will be getting the boat soon. Maybe wait till next spring. But I will use my auto air pump. Set it to 1.14 psi it shuts off. Question.....does the boat stay pretty level? I will use a lithium battery and the same motor. Do you drag the boast to the water?

@codyakfishing8856 Год назад
I see everyone installing them, I'm sure it's real nice to have but I try to keep this boat as simple as I can, I can stand and cast without much of an issue, I've been thinking of getting 1/4 plywood in 2 pieces and just laying it on top of the stock floor
@jimbo_patt
@jimbo_patt Год назад
@@codyakfishing8856 If it adds a bunch of stability I would most likely do it. Drill some holes and ziptie a sliced old hose to edge to soften it. Ive seen some pretty neat set ups but a wood floor along with your idea of a piece of wood strapped to the oars with some cooler seats would get me and my boy on some fish. Thanks for the uploads and will certainly be on the lookout for future uploads 🫡

Do you have a fish finder? Where do you mount it? Do you drag or carry boat to launch? Forgot... what lenght motor shaft?
@codyakfishing8856
@codyakfishing8856 9 месяцев назад
I did but I broke it, I had a Garmin Stryker 4 and mounted the transducer to my trolling motor (Garmin came with a mount for it). I usually carry the boat if I had to, to the launch point, never drag it, and if your going to use a gas outboard I recommend 15" shaft length, as for trolling motor 30-36 inch works good

Ziggy you are correct, I did pay 450$ for the 150ah battery, today I fished for 6 hours and still had 80% left, as shown in the video it has its own level indicator. The last AGM battery I bought cost 200$. I liked the battery but lithium is miles ahead in energy density

How long do you think a 30lb thrust motor with a 35ah battery would last out in the water?
@codyakfishing8856

That depends, is it regular lead acid or lithium? At full speed your looking at an hour maybe, but at trolling speeds on calm water (speed 2) you may get 4 hours

The danger of over inflating is one the sun hits it , it will swell more.
@doglover9794
@doglover9794 Год назад
So, is the boat easily ripped then. You did say you had to patch it. Do you know what the cause of the leak/hole was?
@codyakfishing8856
@codyakfishing8856 Год назад
It has a few patches, mostly from dragging it on ground, and one time running into a dock with a sharp metal edge. I wouldn't say it rips easily, but patching it is simple. I use only shoe goo, no material needed, this boat only uses 1 psi to inflate so the shoe goo holds easily for a very long time

These boats are leaking, and water gets in through the stitches. I bought the first boat three years ago and it started to leak after one year. I bought another Mariner 4 about a year ago, hoping that the first one was a factory defect but it happened again after two months leaking again. I spent $1000 for these two boats and it is very frustrating. I tried to patch the stitches but it was impossible, it broke in another place. Very poor quality boat.

That's insane, I've never had that issue, my first mariner 4 boat broke due to my neglect, I inflated it too much and burst a seam on the inside, this one I have now is 7 years old and still going strong
