Hello! I’m from Crewe, I have holidaying in Porthcawl since I was a baby, I will be 76 in December. My paternal grandparents lived in Pyle, I still have cousins there and in Bridgend. I holidayed in Porthcawl in May and August this year. My father and his brother would spend many hours on Sker beach. And, like them, it’s my favourite beech, mind you, Rest Bay runs a very close 2nd. Really enjoy your videos, thank you.
Awesome live beach video I enjoyed it can't wait to see more next week your videos are always enjoyable and relaxing have a great day see you next video greetings from Canada 😀😀 Cheers
they are all great, but Rest Bay i love,i rember as a kid in the 80s,my dad 2 cooler boxs in hand, same area summertime, large rock, all sand with a pool 1 ft of water, after a few hrs its warms up :),after the sarnies mixed with sand,we got to get an ice cream from the place above the beach.. and have to hop as the thistles get you.nice vid.
Mind you I've been visiting sker all my life and I'm 44 now, and didn't realise it was a nudist beach untill a few months ago, whilst I was walking towards the steel works with my partner walking the dogs this chap walked out of the bushes with his sausage swinging back and forth.🍆🍆 both myself and my girlfriend didn't know where to look we'll that's what she told me anyway. 🍆🍆
I ‘ d managed five of these beaches, when we’ve gone and taken a picnic we’usually ended up on Rest Bay.The out of the way ones you mentioned are too far away from the chip shops.Great video.
Aww brilliant Marcus. I love the Rest and usually head towards Pink Bay but not got as far. Will have to try going further up that end. Can't wait to be back after three years away! I love your videos, thanks Marcus xx ps any history on North Cornelly also Ballas Farm where my grandparents lived, worked and met? We visited an old family friend who lives in Ballas Farm cottage. What an incredible place! I felt like I'd gone back it time and even sat in the priest hole behind the huge fire place and could see down the lane through a slit in the stone wall. Incredible!
Sker beach is my favorite by a country mile. As someone else said you have to make an effort to walk to it you cannot drive directly to it. And often when you get there preferably by a mile walk across kenfig sand dunes it is completely empty of people. Its always different i.e. moody and wild or quiet and bright. And it just goes on for miles all the way down to Aberavon. Love it.
As kids living in Newton in the 60s, we walked miles along the beaches of Porthcawl, all of them with different appeal due to the he blend of sand and rocks. Always something to hunt for in the rock pools. Pity about the dog poo at Newton but we spent many hours wandering over to Ogmore and back. Also used to do some fishing off the rocks at Newton Point.
Thank you for yet another brilliant video tour which was most informative. I'm not really a beach person as they tend to attract too much in the way of loud and annoying Chav families with screeching children and even louder mothers. I am surprised that you neglected to mention the nearby nature reserve at Sker Beach yet you did touch upon the naturist community that is drawn to it. The fact that so many naturists are drawn to the barren wastes of Sker Beach is mainly due to the fact that a very good-sized and tasty jumbo sausage can be had at the not-too-far-away Prince of Wales gastro pub. I dare say, that if I were to venture to Sker beach (you do seem most attracted to it) during the warmer months I could catch you in all your glory wandering around with your ever-so-large selfie stick in hand.
@@flydriveexplore I think you're too hard on yourself. There are niche markets that cater to every taste - and there are certain niche markets that charge a lot of lolly pandering to the pervs of Porthcawl. Which as it happens, has the second largest number of dogging sites in South Wales - after kinky Tenby.
Newton Beach if you want to look for shells and life in rock pools beware of the sands as you go towards OGMORE as parts of the beach got spots of quicksand. Rest bay beach is brilliant and good surffing Treco bay for bathing and rock polls Coney Beach =zero the last time I went in the water at coney beach I was surrounded by human waste
Nice beaches yes a shame people leave so much mess can be a ruination of a place and harmful and hazardous to others ,these majority of people they know who they are, should take their mess home with them .yes I know many hidden gems and keep quiet about but ok to share with us as we are in the wink wink nudge nudge club now, consider your secrets kept my friend.
