Long John Silver (i know isnt real) is ALWAYS the first pirate i think of when the word pirate ever comes up in convo. Lol Black beard was always thought of after. Guess I read Treasure Island very early in my youth.

Some of those include cannibalism, rape and torturing. So I wouldn't be so sure about the whole "too dark for op/shonen" argument.

I'm 100% sure that all the forshadowing we credit Oda for is just something he came up with at the time and later just made a connection to. It wasnt planned from the get go. He just wanted to make a connection with something and wrote the story accordingly. Some things...sure, maybe. But not everything. Otherwise there wouldn't be so many errors in the story overall

The more People point things out about this kraken theory, The more i think it fits with Teach when it comes to what he represents in the story. Basiclly: teach is meant to be the oposite to luffy, luffy the good kind and teach the bad and irl kind of pirate. Also if luffy is slowly getting fire related abilities, it would fit with Their theme that teach had water-zoan powers from before he joined the whitebeards.

That's a great idea. Reading about it on Wikipedia, there are some interesting abilities that could come from that. "powers to heal and bestow knowledge" "ability to self-amputate, like several octopus species, and regenerate limbs"

I some cases Oda has alot of time to develop his therorys. Even if his first idea is changed he often can just replace the old with the new idea.

That is the genius of his style of story telling. He drops vague hints that could mean anything early on, so that he can pick them up later and further develop them. We wouldn't know if he has had this planned since the beginning, just made it up as he is drawing the panel, or anything in between.

Oda definitely prefers the slow burn. George RR Martin does the same thing. Except hes lazy when Oda isnt lazy.

What I like most about this is that we have gotten one fact about Blackbeard that none of the 3 RU-vidrs in this video discussed. We know that Blackbeard has some serious knowledge about Devilfruits (Don't know if it was confirmed but I seem to remember he even had a book for them). We know that he has very longstanding plans that he acts on and he is willing to be very patient for his plans to work. So If you're a young Blackbeard and you think about the best way to become the most fearsome MF in the hood, it would make soo much sense to go for a devil fruit like this. Now we don't know if this is in any way spot on, or how the yami-yami factors into this, but I could very much imagine that BB would craft his plan around the following Ideas: Step 1: Get the Kraken/octopus/cthulhu(whatever) fruit to attain the ability to have multiple devil fruits, to perhaps even have the ability to go into water and to forgo the need to sleep for ~8 hours (how many jokes are made about the fact that we could achieve much more if we didn't need to sleep for a third of the day?) Step 2: Attain the ability to negate any other DF. With Devilfruits being one of the strongest weapons in this universe and a lot of Big shots having insane DF's, this would be a no-brainer. And at least this part we know of. Step 3: Attain what's regarded as the strongest/most destructive Devil Fruit there is. It sounds simple, yet it makes so much sense. This sounds like a Plan Blackbeard would come up with and it does cover so many bases to really become strong in this world, even without the resilience someone like Luffy has. Mind you, I'm differentiating resilience and determination here, because Blackbeard does show insane amounts of determination. And I think he deserves the D. in his name! But it's a very different kind of determination to Luffy's. While our Rubber boy runs headfirst into any problem and will fight tooth and nail until it goes away, Blackbeard is prepared to wait for as long as necessary and do whatever bad thing it takes to achieve his goal. This is what makes him a great foil to Luffy. Having a similar Characterbase but applying it in a completely different manner to our protagonist.

It makes sense he’s a kraken and the final battle will be under water in enies lobby

Yeah, it's a pretty common theory that the bags Jesus Burgess always carries with him are filled with fruit for this very purpose. He's specifically known as a devil fruit hunter.

Yea 100% what I think happened also I always found it strange how interested in history and devil fruits Blackbeard is, he definitely has an ulterior motive and is waiting in the shadows for something to happen, maybe luffy defeating kaido so kaido is no longer in Blackbeard’s way. Also Blackbeard is the only character we have seen to read the devil fruit encyclopaedia why would there be no one else who has read it and what kind of information does it have since apparently not much is known about the fruits but apparently had a lot of details about the darkness fruit which is pretty rare, that book is definitely from the ancient kingdom and how Blackbeard got it is a good question.

That would play beautiful into the whole devil part of the fruits, maybe also doing something to the users soul. And i also dont think Law denies this as the other comments do. A new devil fruit only appears if the previous user died, so the whole heart transformation should also only appear then (maybe by using the power of the soul, comsuming it for the devil) and Laws power doesnt kill. The only thing about it that bothers me is that we never ever heard about a body missing the heart which would make the news for sure. But then again most devil fruit users die in battle so why would anyone bother opening the body. Theorizing a bit further, maybe Vegapunk and somehow Kaido found out and eventually managed to manipulate hearts to create the artificial DFs and the beast pirate army, which would be so damn dark thinking about the Tontatta actually farming manipulated hearts on Dressrosa..

I doubt it,since it's really rare condition and i doubt Oda would know about it,and even if he knew,he would know/read that it speculated to be actually a teratoma(type of tumor),and not actual parasitic twin. And look at pictures of how people with that condition look like. Currently,my most favorite theory,and the one i believe will come true is the Chimerism from genetics,extremely rare for humans to have it,but it's very well known since it's common for animals and plants - it basically means that you have,instead of common 1 set of DNA,you have 2 sets of DNA. Oda will use Genetics to explain how Devil fruits work,he has already told us that Devil fruits affect Lineage factor,which is DNA,so in that way,if your DNA is once affected by the devil fruits,it cannot be affected again,or you'll die from too many mutations. In case of Blackbeard,since he has 2 sets or more,he has DNA that is unaffected and thus he is able to eat multiple devil fruits. It is a genetic disorder thus affects your genes in DNA and as a result,your proteins are mutated proteins,which will in return cause your body to be different.(which is why Marco said Blackbeard is different)

He was known as the 'Pregnant Man'. Also look at a picture of 'Sanju Bhagat', he has a massive belly and very skinny arms and legs and has a strong jawline, exactly like Blackbeard. Both of them are not fat anywhere except their belly. BB always has his belly on show also. I'm sure Oda would have heard of the guy and thought to himself, what if both 'Sanju Bhagat' and his brother inside of him both had Devil Fruits? Thus he created Blackbeard.
