I can see this being the future of aftermarket american car parts and business in general, much less flashy, just focusing on the quality of the product, and making it in the USA
@@Cultofpersonality09129 Dude, there are a *lot* of car parts made in America. Go to almost any industrial park and drive around and take a look. What we don't do is computer components. For a whole lot of reasons that scholars have dedicated entire books too so I'm not even going to attempt to rehash that for a YT comment. The short answer is though we don't even graduate enough engineers per year to keep up with basic demand to run the plants needed to make those parts. America's education problem needs fixed before we can even try. Unfortunately we can't fix education because people keep politicizing it so we will continue to circle the drain. As long as we have bread and circuses we won't care until it's too late.
Appreciate what you do, and the way you cut through the "BS". Nothing wrong with selling the brand you worked so hard to establish. Good luck and Happy New Year.
The fact that you just said something about that camshaft is smaller. You can preach for days and somehow people cannot grasp the idea that a car with a broad healthy torque curve will normally spank the shit out of a car with no bottom end nuts and a high peak at a million RPM.. Good for you Matt. Keep doing what you're doing seems like you got some good things working!
So badass how folks like you and Holdner sacrifice so much of your time researching so much and taking the additional time to share it with the community. You guys are fucking legends in my book. All of my fast shit is only possible because of guys like yall. Thank you.🤙
The “New” cam looks awesome! Note, if you plan on running at all on pump premium 92-93 octane safely try not to exceed SCR 10.20-1. Naturally your altitude will play a part in octane requirements so error on the side of caution.
It's great to see you and Richard working together on a cam. He's been talking about doing one for a while, and of course he knows what works. Happy new year to you and yours, Matt. Thanks for everything you do for us enthusiasts.
I just bought it! Don’t even know why! Haven’t even finished the build I have going rightnow with the ss2. More reason to blow it up to try this new cam out.
Just got my shirt(best quality yet) and ice cream and burnout bracket....now the Best cam is on it's way. Thanks for what you do for the community Matt and Jamie.
This is fantastic. Looking forward to seeing the sloppy nation rock the hell out of this cam! I will definitely support you and use one an the next thing that needs a cam. Happy new year Matt and Jaimie.
Was sooooo close to buying a SS2 cam last week and glad I didn’t, will be buying the best cam when I’m ready for a cam. Definitely want to support you guys where I can for the countless hours of free information you have given us. Really appreciate what you do 👍🏻
I'm sure I'm speaking for many ppl but I hope more sloppy best camshafts are produced and come up for sale again looks like it was a huge success sold out in way less than a month. Great work Matt . You made a huge accomplishment. Good Job this cam added huge power w minimal bottom end loss. Please update as to when more shafts may be ready.
Looking at the specs, I like it. It is quite a bit smaller than the original sloppy, but with 110.5 degrees separation it should lope nicely. You also went with the big lift (not made for Z06 springs). The in/ex difference is pretty good. I don't say this often, but you hit this one just about perfect! Nice job. When I ordered a custom solid roller for my 455 Pontiac, I told Butler 224/224 and 600 lift. They said that cam is going to lay over at 5 grand in a 455. I said I was putting twin gt30s on it. Never mind, they replied. That 4 spd trans am will spin the 355 tires from 55-100 mph in 3rd without dumping the clutch.
I literally posted about where to buy the ss2 last night on the sloppy page, so Many iffy ones on Amazon and elsewhere. I'll be looking out for one. Congrats man thats bad ass
Been watching you since I started my first project. This cam will go into the second project! thanks for the laughs you are the definition of “hobbies are supposed to be fun”.
I just saw an lq4 listed on marketplace near me with valve springs and a “sloppy joe” cam. Made me laugh pretty hard 😂 Must have bought it used and has no idea
Could have called it the "adult " cam, for when you decide to not just make idle noise and big horsepower numbers. Eventually people realize that a big torque curve makes a car faster and is more fun to drive. I really like the specs. Narrower lsa means more torque in a narrower power band. With good head flow it will still make good power.
So I ordered one of these Jan 1st! Looking forward to putting it in my 5.3, but I have run in to one issue you have with your ordering site. My fat fingers entered the wrong email address while I was ordering and I didn't notice until after placing the order....well, there is no contact information on your order site or anywhere else for that matter so here I am almost a month after ordering and I'm just waiting in the dark hoping the cam will show up someday.
The BEST cam for a 6.0 with twin 67/62’s is the sloppy stage 3 from Trick Flow!! The BEST cam is whatever’s in your car and running , BUT $275 is hard to beat
Between you and Richard have inspired me enormously! I just ordered the “BEST” cam…..I’m still a ways out on installing a turbo, will it benefit my “07” TBSS NA?
Happy New Year Moat! Not ready to buy a cam just yet, want to get my C10 back on the road first, but when I am you will have my order! Being one of your foreign customers that might make things easier for you anyway! Keep doing what you are doing. Paul
Just installed the btr stage 3 truck in my son's truck for Christmas. It's a beast. I'm sure this cam will be a beast. I even used one of Matt's po1 tunes as a base tune and barely had to modify it
Just finished the idle/base tune with the SS2 in my swap (81' Ford Granada). Such a solid cam for the money, and honestly was easier than expected to tune with. Longterm I'd really love to see this and you grow into a brand (although I understand why you may not want to), there are so many "Flashy" brands that offer more of a name than a product in the LS world.. It would be nice to have a company producing products "for the people". Congrats and happy new year!
In collaboration with Holdener, the next one should be called the 'wrong cam'. I unfortunately already bought a Cam Motion 217/225 just under. 600 lift LSA 114+2. I think it was a good choice, with very similar specs to the 'best'. Going in a rec. port headed 6.0 (L76) in my G8GT.
Congrats Matt!! I wish I needed a cam right now, Lol... I have the summit 8720r1 in one of my engines right now, and it's sweet, but I would be more interested in the slightly different specs of yours (at a little less money)! As usual, you're the friggin' man. :)
Great Hungover from newyears, ordering a cam that will cost the same as decent lifters for a truck that wasn't ready a turbo. mattslopple does it again folks
Interested in the best cam but tried ordering it and won't sent to Canada. Possibe to beable to get a cam with some merch? Shipping will be what every it is. Newfoundland Canada.
I have a 6.0 with a blower in a truck I built on my channel. I got a deal on the cam that's in it.......... I want to do something different. Have you tried it on a Blower motor yet?
I have built some great ls engines over the last 12 years or so like my current '68 C10 with a 5.3 punched out to 5.7 running a big Comp cam, long tubes and Fitech FI. But for a daily driver I've found smaller cams like your SS2 are the way to go, producing better power in the driving ranges often produces better performance up to 4500 rpm or so. Right where you need it on the street. I found out about your cam to late unfortunately but I am running a Texas Speed Stage 2 which is very similar to yours. It's going in a '86 S10 with a 5.3, LS6 intake, shorty headers and a T5, should be fun.
