Man, I'm kinda surprised it did 500 tire so easily. That's a really good and simple setup. I agree with the other comments, that is sounds killer too. Long tubes really have a much much better sound than a turbo as a muffler (I miss the sound of mine, but also like the choo choo noises 😂). Thanks Matt! We love seeing another Fairmont - our first slop love.
I respectfully disagree. But I prefer subtle whistle to loud headers, every time. The beauty is you get to build yours, your way, and I'll build mine, my way. And everyone wins !
@@jamesgeorge4874 Totally agree, the beauty is that it is personal. I have a single turbo setup now, but liked how my truck sounded with long tubes and glasspacks. The older I get, the quieter I want my ride 😂. So the current deal is turbo and glasspacks to keep it mild on the ear drums.
@@AaronHardinPhoto Lol, im 50. The last version of my 80 Capri had long tubes, 2 1/2 duals and Hooker Aero Chamber mufflers, my deer hunting freinds said they could hear it start, and me row gears and drive about 3 miles to the expressway, and then send it to triple digits every day I left work at the end of 3rd shift. Now I drive a tuned Volvo T5 but all the exhaust is stock, it has a cutout, but I rarely open it....
@@AaronHardinPhoto Yep. Even drag pipe Harley guy across the street fires his, and quickly, and descreetly as possible gets out of the neighborhood, like a grown adult too. A little respect makes for a better neighbor, for sure.
Nice Matt. Appreciate the content man. When you get in there to replace the super awesome LS9 gaskets with junkyard 5.3s throw one of your China best cams in. Just a suggestion.
The fire hose blasting the blower😁It sounds killer for sure. Really looking forward to seeing what the little pulley makes after you fix the head gaskets. I switched to SCE Vulcan cut ring gaskets and hopefully that solved the head gasket issues. Deck wasn't flat was most of the issue I believe. Had to take .010 off to get it straight.
It's so refreshing to not hear a turbo muffling the angry sound of a pissed off LS engine making good power! Can't wait to see this progress. P.S. I was gonna be pissed if this makes more power than my car Haha.
@@SloppyMechanics I'm trying to find the video on your RU-vid channel, but I can't. I vividly remember at least 10 years ago... you installed a 4l80E in Corey's silver Silverado and you had a residential house light switch to lockup the torque converter. I CAN'T FIND IT, MOTT. It's killing me.
it made 500 tire on the smaller 3.1 pulley or was that with the 3.5 pulley? Edit - nevermind, like the idiot I am I commented with out reading the comments first. Your thinking you didn't see any noticeable gains because of the headgasket issue. I cant wait for the longer rambletron video and subsequent headgasket repair and redyno video.
terkstorm needs to give you the 91mm unit to beat into the dirt...... also wonder what interstage cooled compund boost would be like with one of these ?
Probably just lifting the cyl head like I was last night pulling on c6 GS & z06s on the highway Last night 😂😂 It’s fineeeee , just run it to an overflow tank and LETTEREAT
@@SloppyMechanics thanks matt! ive got a 4l80 hd2 5.3 ss2 gt45 combo 550-600 wheel goals about to pull the pin on a summit pro 3600 stall or circle d of the same. is that what youd recommend?
Wear you able to daily that thing with out the inter cooler I want to get one for my project but want to to save on the extra money of piping for an intercooler and the inter cooler it’s self
I’m assuming it makes 11lbs due to no cooler. Mine makes 154kpa at 6800rpm with a 3.1 pulley. Curious to what timing you were able to throw at it at max boost wot.
Do y’all have same engine size, heads, and camshaft? Bigger engine-less boost, better heads-less boost, more camshaft-less boost. If everything is the same and all that’s different is the ic then you may have an issue there. 3-4 lbs across a core seams a bit much.
@@Boosted_e63chuck a cam that pulls hard on the top pairs well with the rising boost curve. I’m sure when Matt covers the data and theory you can check out the timing. Have to look back for the f7 combo can’t remember. Just remember when you reduce the restriction through the engine the boost goes down. Another way to check your core would be look at pressure fore/aft
I built those transmissions, specifically just those. They get a bad name because most builders don’t know what they are doing or don’t care because “it’s a 4l60” and/or the tuner deletes torque management on the shifts….which you CANNOT DO and expect it to live. I leave 15-20% tq management on the 1-2 shift and 10-15% on the 2-3. My 4l60 been living for over 3 years in my car. 22+psi boost on a built 5.3.
