She never cared to learn while she lived at home. I love that she calls me about how to make things. My son is in the Navy and just got an apartment. He has a kitchen now. He called me to find out how I make his favorite spaghetti. My heart just melted. He even sent me a picture when he was done.

This is the best chicken pot pie. Just made it this week. Please try it with cold cranberry sauce. It is delicious as your meal and cranberry sauce on the side. That looks like alot of shortening to me. I understand the 4 tblsp of butter. But not a whole half a cup of shortening. The flour fat ratio didn't look right to me is all. I just loved seeing Amy beside you Tammy. What a blessing to be able to pass down the tips and tricks of cooking "just like Mama did". --- I've made this exact recipe for years. There is only one different addition that my Momma taught me and that is to season the vegetables. We make ours with canned too (when we do the quick version, but mom taught me how to also use everything fresh and how to chop and prep it. - My TIP: Next time you make this, try adding just one ingredient to your canned veggies. Mix in a packet of Knorr Soup and Recipe Vegetable Mix. It's a flavor bomb. It gives a subtle but delicious gentle flavor to pie.
