Deztroyer idk about u lmfao I love death note and all but I kinda cringed at the evil laugh😭 it sounds like the kinda laugh I make when I can’t breathe and I start to suffocate 😂💀
Deztroyer the dub I think. His Japanese laugh is better of course. On the other hand I don’t rlly like Lelouch’s Japanese laugh but I love the dub laugh
+Hani Alzahrani Jun Fukuyama did a great job as Lelouch. But given the context of the plot, Johnny Yong Bosch was able to capture Lelouch's descent into insanity a lot better.
for all their similarities, this is one of the things that's different between Lelouch and Light: Lelouch *recognized* that his actions were morally questionable and even wrong (eg, "These hands of mine have been dirty for a long time", and "even my own conscious must be cast aside"), versus Light who always thought he was in the right. And then what does Lelouch do? goes fuck it I'll destroy it all!!
"Someone has to do it, so why not me? Even if it means sacrificing my own mind and soul, it's worth it. Because the world... It can't go on like this. Is there anyone out there other than me who'd be willing to eliminate the evil from the world? If I don't do it, then who will? That's just it: there's no one. But I can do it. In fact, it appears like I'm the only one who can... I'll be the one to change this world!" -Light
Light knew, too. First episode he said the same thing: casting aside his own conscious. In the end. though, Light saw his path as just and right; Lelouch saw his path as evil, but worth it for a better end.
Seriously Code Geass' writing and directing, animation, music, etc., is so fucking superb. I mean, they just had an emotional (and probably tense, with both of them having suspicions of each other) conversation, and then *QUEUE EPIC MUSIC AND EXPLOSIONS* You know the shit is going to hit HARD, and you know how fucking fun it will be just watching it unroll! And at the end of this scene, Lelouch says the same words at the end of the first episode "Now then!" with the same face. Just awesome
I view this scene as a turning point of Lelouche's character development. If you look closely, he looks more menacing than elated, and more disheveled than composed compared to the scene in episode 1. Considering everything he went through up to this point, it's only natural that he'd be more stressed out, and I think this scene really nailed that with the visuals.
I'm nearly positive Suzaku knew Lelouch was Zero at this moment. He called him from Euphy's phone. Which means she had his contact number. And this scene also takes place after that episode where Euphy, Lelouch, Suzaku, and Kallen were all stranded on that island. I think Suzaku pieced it together but just didn't want to acknowledge it yet. And Lelouch probably knew he was suspicious which is why he all but reveals himself at 1:23. It's basically one final conversation between friends in blissful ignorance. By far one of my favorite scenes and the dub delivers it perfectly. Johnny Yong Bosch is an absolute fucking legend.
V.V. I had already told him by that time, remember, so yes, Suzaku already knew but it is possible that he did not want to accept it, in that you are right, how painful is the last talk as friends
@@Icetea-2000 Euphemia and Lelouch were seperated after Charles cast Lelouch and Nunnally out from the royal family; they had no way of contacting each other, and many in the royal family assumed Lelouch was dead because he and Nunnally went into hiding at Ashford. That's why it's so odd that Euphie would have had Lelouch's number on her phone.
I think Lelouch always wanted it to be Suzaku who killed him. He never planned on dying, but I think there was something calming about his first and last friend being the one who ends his life.
his original plan was to take his dad place and become the new king and change the whole nation. But it changed after he killed and his identity was revealed, which was cool with the hair animation
This is absolutely the best scene for me as well. Suzaku and Lelouch both know exactly where they stand in the coming battle. So he takes the chance to talk to Suzaku as Lelouch one last time before he puts on the mask and fights him as Zero. I like how he immediately switches over to his Zero persona the second the call was done, incredible voice acting.
This is why having such a good fuckin voice director for dubs is so important Something many shows even now these days botch.... like the new SEES dubs for example
People rather watch a revolution like Hunger Games where the main character is a passive poster-child instead of Code Geass where our hero is this awesome evil genius?
zakariya mohamud actually they are the best in comparison. If someone saw code geass and loved it will definitely love death note although it is a bit more.......but you will definitely see their similarities
zakariya mohamud I like contrasting them. Lelouch was an anti-hero, but Light was a real villain. Lelouch had a consistent philosophy about helping the world, even at the cost of his life. Light's only consistency was in taking power, and protecting himself. They were different uses of genius.
I kept track of the time... They kept it consistent with real time throughout. Very rare for most TV series, but then Code Geass is not 'most TV series.'
1:24 I feel like in this moment, Lelouch fully dropped his mask, just for a moment. He says, “The only ones who should kill are those who are prepared to be killed.” In the same way, even though they are sworn enemies, he can’t blame Suzaku for having a burning hatred to kill because he himself has that same hatred. More than anything, in this one moment, he wanted to not be a hypocrite, and in his own way, be there for his friend
EJ Carroll if you say character there are six characters who are equally epic 1) L death note 2) light yagami death note 3) son Goku Dbz 4) vegeta Dbz 5) lelouch code geass 6) Shinji ikari Neon Genesis Evangelion
It's crazy, because everything Lelouch told Suzaku, including his opinions and advice was the truth (Besides being at Ashford). He was speaking from the heart. But Lelouch knew that Suzaku knew he was Zero at that point and that there was no turning back.
This scene was done really well. I love how the clock on the Gawain (lelouch's knightmare frame) and the actual anime time are synchronized. The conversation actually lasted 1 minute and 25 seconds both in anime time and in real time. This is one of my favorite scenes in one of my favorite anime
Have you looked at the Star Wars Expanded Universe (well, the one that is no longer canon (damn you, Disney!))? Lameness is quite prominent on both sides of the Force.
***** Yes, I have. And while I'm disappointed because of the good bits that stopped being canon, those other weird and lame parts of the EU are the very reason why I'm more or less okay with Disney's decision. It's not like they burned each and every book available, they still exist and people can enjoy reading them. But, no, I still think that Suzaku is on a completely new level of lame, not to mention the hypocrisy... Though of course, I AM pissed that Disney took over - if Lucas hadn't given up his rights to the universe, I am sure he would have found a way to keep The Clone Wars running, if not on CN, then on some other channel. And while after long, long, LONG time, I do admit that Rebels isn't complete trash of a show, I still would take preferred those lost seasons of TCW :( Not to mention the fact that Disney's main priority isn't continuing the great legacy that is Star Wars; it's continuing the franchise so that they can get even more loaded. You can see that difference when you realize that Lucas wasn't afraid to pump loads of money into TCW thanks to which we got fantastic animation in the later seasons. And then there's the weird animation in Rebels which is just... bad. IMO.
@@niewesoa5299 Well well well, TCW was back one last time. Ngl tho when it was under Lucas the episodes were better, and I found the episodes in s7 pretty bad apart from the last 4 ofc. Btw I'm polish too :>
@@roken174 O, jaki stary thread odkopany :D Cześć!
No hate for aot but I didn’t like the ending because it felt like it didn’t fit. The writers were like “code geass was cool, let’s do that” except geass worked up to its ending from the jump, it didn’t just pivot to it in the last quarter.
Suzaku: ''I'm going to become a murderer in the skies of Tokyo, so please-'' Lelouch: ''Use you aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate FLOW through you!''
You gotta love this moment, even in the first half. I mean, everything's played in real time, from the start to the end of the phone call. Then, it all goes to hell in the second half, where the glorious moment occurs, with Lelouch's laugh being the cherry in top.
BigBoy JC The similarities are superficial, really. Light became consumed with his arrogance and god complex, while Lelouch was far more altruistic and guided by an actual comprehension of politics. Light got the keys to the kingdom when he found the Death Note-- Lelouch's power is far more limited in its scope.
+Jordanationalismtion I'd disagree that their similarities are superficial. They both committed "evil" deeds in the name of a greater good, and in my opinion that's a pretty big similarity. They're also both super intelligent, cunning, aloof, arrogant, the list goes on... but Lelouch probably has a bit more of a conscience, you're right.
Jatinder Gill Engaging in morally grey actions for the greater good doesn't exactly make them that similar-- one engaged in murder on an immense scale while elevating himself to godhood, while the other used strategy and diplomacy to even the odds in a war against an obscenely dominant military superpower. A hundred other characters in just as many series have done the same. Beyond superficial similarities-- intelligence, cunning, arrogance, a flare for the dramatic and being aloof just puts them on the same footing with a thousand other anime protagonists, antagonists and rivals-- they are entirely different characters. Admittedly I don't know Light as well, but from what I could see, he was a lot more... naked in how he enjoyed his power and manipulating others. Lelouch had his moments of sick pleasure, but he also reacted afterwards with disgust until he got used to it, and even then, he still kept a firm moral core. As far as I'm concerned, the only reason they get compared so much was because their shows came out at roughly the same time. I'd make the point that Lelouch has far more in common and takes pages from several Gundam characters, namely Char Aznable during his more... charitable moments and his character arc during Zeta-- aloof, yes, intelligent and driven, but also dealing with his own quest for vengeance and the struggle to be something more than just a killer, and facing up to the obligations foisted upon himself, or that he unknowingly embraced. Light Yagami leaped right into his role and never really shied away from it-- Lelouch constantly struggled with what he had to do, how he did it, and the unknown costs of his actions.
swaggazilla sam technically code geass is supposed to be in English Britannia which is supposed to be Britain is an English speaking country after conquering Japan they would have outlawed speaking Japanese
Lelouch's laugh will always unnerve me more than Light's ever will. And for one simple reason: *It's so childlike.* ESPECIALLY in the Subbed version. Sure, Light's is manic and full of insanity, but Lelouch? That's filled with *glee*, like a little kid playing with his toys.
In spite of Lelouch’s cold heart, i would support his character and actions, because you don’t go through what he went through and become light, and the casualties are always apart of war, and it is sad, but i like how Lelouch is a somewhat of a Batman metaphor, the hero they need, but not they one deserve, although I personally find that line confusing, the status quo should be broken and replaced with something better, and politicians today have betrayed the trust of the people they trust for their parties, allies, or disgusting abominable actions
Zero: *Kills the love of his best friend's life* Guards in the government building: "Jeeze if that's what happens to his friends, I'd hate to see what happens to his enemies" *Timer zeros out*
Holy shit! The trumpets that blast right when the timer hits 24:00:00 were excellently placed, and the score that follows only heightened my heart rate. Cornelia's terrified face as she watches massive structures crumble, destroying everything. This was the pinnacle of the show, and maybe of all of anime. It certainly beats any show I've seen as an American. Before you call me a weeb, I have a little anecdote. I avoided anime like the plague while growing up. I always thought it was too odd and cringey, especially when I hit high school and all my friends were begging me to watch it. I gave in my freshman year of college and decided to take my friends recommendation of Code Geass. This was a blessing and a curse. The blessing was that it showed me how absolutely beautiful, stunning, and emotional anime can be. The curse was it set the standard for how I watched all the anime I've seen subsequently. Especially when it comes to dubs, Code Geass reigns supreme. No single anime has beaten the genius and artistic masterpiece that is this show (FMAB comes close, tho). It hits you on all levels.
Edward Gil it was done out of love for his brother ;) But on some real shit I wanted to fuckin kill him myself at that time, but his soliloquy while the song was playing made me cry to much
Carl Johnson Meh. I still don't like him. When he died I was kinda disappointed that the writers for some reason were trying to make us feel bad for him. I already didn't like him that much because of his really weird obsession with Lelouch but when he killed Shirley I just couldn't bring myself to enjoy him at all. I mean come on, he even planned on killing Nunally.
Carl Johnson Why? Because she wanted to stop her brother? Because the man she idolized threw the world into chaos and let everyone think that he was evil? She was trying to make the world a better place. I'm sorry how can you root for Lelouch but not anyone else when they have the same goal. Only difference is that Lelouch started out with selfish intent and grew to actually care. Nunally, Suzaku, and Euphie all cared from the very beginning. And what does any of that matter? Rolo was gonna kill Nunally BEFORE she turned against Lelouch. When she was still innocent.
If i'm correct there's other engVA that voice lelouch, but this guy did him justice. Including the laugh. Something something like a western kind of voice that fits lelouche best.
