@@Replica_Rabbit Did you even watch the show? Lelouch didn't brainwash Euphie. That was an accident. He didn't want that to happen at all. But unfortunately it did, so he spun it around and used it to motivate the Black Nights.
@@dejajade6726 I did watch the show, I talking on the Black Knights point of view. The only people who know Lelouch didn't mean to is CC (I guess his mother) and himself
@@Replica_Rabbit Oh I'm sorry. I thought you meant he purposefully did it. Yes, from the Black Knights pov it would seem so, based on the information Schneizel gave them.
ColonelCarnage If he did use his power then they wouldn’t have been able to even think about betraying him... that alone should have been proof that he wasn’t abusing them, god I hate Ohgi
What makes it even worse is that, while he was a Britannian prince, he had no claim to the throne. He renounced his claim to the throne shortly after Marianne was murdered, and was summarily sent to Japan alongside Nunnally as a diplomatic tool. He had nothing to gain from starting a rebellion with Britannia. Lelouch's only mistake was not being honest with his core members about his identity. The public at large? Yeah, they don't need to know who he is. The ones closest to him though? It probably would have helped for them to know that the one leading them was a former Britannian Prince who hated his own country more than they did.
@@7MukuroRealm The BKs didn't know Geass's limitations. Of course, this doesn't change the Logic Bomb of being able to defy a command of permanent servitude from a power that (by accident or not) caused the Massacre Princess incident in the first place.
I mean, he can't fight. So he prefers to stand from a distance. With detonators, remote controls, and prerecorded shit, he doesn't have to enter the actual battlefield to win/destroy stuff.
This line reminds me of what Marco Inaros tells Klaes Ashford when he says: "You can't see it. Can't even imagine it. This has always been a problem of our kind. _Even our dreams are small._ " Straight goosebumps in both these scenes, even though the Inaros scene is a LOT heavier.
That's what I was just thinking! I guess it makes some sense, though--his immediate subordinates seem to be extremely sheeplike when it comes to following the directions of a powerful leader. He didn't exactly use them when fighting Clovis because of their value so much as their availability--and it seems like the only one with a scrap of real loyalty among them is Kallen, who tried to stand up for him then anyways. That whole accusation scene probably could have gone better if Lelouch had actually tried to turn them back to his side, at any rate--but hey, I guess when your soldiers betray you for their worst enemy based on accusations of him having magical brainwashing powers, you're entitled to despair of the whole thing.
The reason why the black knights betrayed zero was not because of his geass or being a prince, it was because they learned he used geass on Euphemia Li Britannia to tell her to kill all the japanese at the special zone. Its not like they knew zero could not control it because on the audio Schneizel gave them it sounded like he did it to get more people to follow him. (which he ended up doing)
Whats to say he wasn't betting that Kalen would do that though. Lulu needed to get closer and boss dude summoning the knightmare sentries allowed for that.
Lelouch likely knew that someone would react to C.C. being under the mask. That is likely why Kallen was part of the group that Zero sent when planning on meeting Taizō Kirihara. Note the confusion from the Kyōto House members. We have Taizō asking if C.C. is not Zero, and which leads to her chance to publicly state Taizō's name to everyone present. This given Lelouch vital information if he did not have it. The reaction from the guards to C.C.'s statement causes them to focus their weapons on her, causing them to not be able to react to Lelouch's surprise attack.
I have to admit Lelouch is not only a great tactician but also an excellent Knightmare pilot. Edit: Excellent is not the right word but it kinda sad that he exceeds the overwhelming amount of his Elite Black Knights.
+何馨 C.C. didn't surpass Lelouch and he only got surpassed by others because offensive tech advances outweighed defensive ones so the Shinkiro got left behind by higher tier mechs.
+Don Lelouch isn't really a great Knightmare pilot in my eyes. I mean, he can function it in the most basic manners but he isn't as skilled as Kallen or even Suzaku. Which is why he had a particular Knightmare suited for two pilots. One to do the maneuvering and the other to control the offensive/defensive power.
***** Kallen and Suzaku are superhuman (or at least Suzaku is). There were plans to explain why Suzaku (and probably the other ace pilots) were so good but it got cut from R2. The Shinkiro is made like that because it's systems are immensely complicated on a technical level. All that typing Lelouch does isn't just for show and he also needs to plan for the battle he's in as well. The dual piloting allows him to work without even more distraction.
And they probably have no idea who Lelouch is.....so it would mean nothing. I could take off zeros mask to see you underneath, but that wouldn't matter unless I knew who YOU were
I have searched far and wide and to this day I can not find a series as good as Code Geass. Its really to bad it never found its American audience bc it truly is the greatest anime to ever be created.
Let me tell you a story sir and before you ask me is it true. When I was in college me and my girl friend broke up because I kept mentioning Death Note at inappropriate times and I would do it again. Today I work as a private investigator because I was inspired by L. I LOVE Death Note ok. However there comes a time when every head must bow and Code Geass is that series. Its nothing short of a masterpiece from beginning to end. If Death Note kept up the pace of the L arc it possibly would have been on par with Code Geass but as things turned out No. And I have never seen Steins; Gate.
Arenzoj Interesting. I wouldn't call it the best show, but one of the best for sure. And Steins;Gate is a masterpiece nontheless. The complexity of the series is significant. Truly one of the very rare time travel storys which are actually logical (as it seems to me). I like it that you are that amazed by Code Geass, that's cool. :)) FMA BH also in some ways has God himself as one of the most important characters, the show's like Code Geass with action but also with intelligence. However, there's a lack of these "dammm dammm dammm" twists, as this is an attribute of DN and Code Geass and wouldn't fit in that sci-fi fantasy storyline.
@BK201 Well there wasn't any reason to think much otherwise. If they couldn't even see his face or know his real name, why would they bother asking who CC is to him
The fact that Lelouch willingly removed his mask for Kirihara--and it doesn't seem to me like it was just to convince Kirihara of his trustworthiness--kind of says something about him. He has so few people who he can have those moments of connection with.
One thing I don't get is how Kallen never noticed the voice similarities between Zero and Lelouch. Especially when he spoke without his mask on so it wasn't echoed. Wouldn't she have realized it was Lelouch's voice?
Well I will tell you why... Lelouch regularly speaks with a softer tone, when portraying zero he's muffled by his mask and uses deeper and more masculine tone
+Attam A little late, but she did, the episode right after he first became "Zero". He did that recording over the phone while she was in the same room with him to trick her into believing they weren't the same.
It’s weird how they forgot he hates Britannia and backstab him after learning why he hates them. Like sure he was a prince and uses Geass, but they were quick to forget about this meeting after they learned of his true origins. Don’t get me wrong, them learning of his geass causing The death of Japanese definitely had them determined but then again they were not aware that he did not have control of his geass. I say they should of talked with him while he was still zero to explain himself. I honestly am ashamed of the Black Knights because they did not consider or trust Zero at all. They were so quick to turn their backs on him.
Well the last time britannian royalty was trusted didn’t end so well. What surprises me is that none of the black knights ever really addressed that kallen knew for a while and said nothing. Was it never suspicious how quick kallen is to defend zero?
@@tatarsauce6314 it’s a complicated situation to them. I mean Lelouch did kill his sister after his geass took affect so in a way he did take responsibility for his own actions, forced to kill an ally in his own family that loved him and was controlled but a weapon he can not control at the time. I say lelouch did the right thing as Zero killing her as a way of taking responsibility.
They weren't sure how his Geass worked, just that he's able to control people using it. So they assumed he used geass on everyone and manipulated every conversation he had using it, including this one.
@@cocos8205 They stated right before they fought Lelouch that they don't condemn the use of the Fieija to create a world of fear. But they only agreed to join with Schneizel because he was the lesser evil. Lelouch kidnapped all the United nations representatives and he literally said "TO DESTROY THE WORLD AND CREATE A NEW!" *in 4K.* It's like choosing between *SUPER HITLER* or Bri'ish Stalin. Which is what happened in World war 2, but if hitler actually won.
Honestly, if they were really paying attention here it would be possible to work out Zero's identity. The criteria given in this scene is quite narrow. - Male - Not Japanese, so Brittanian - Important enough that the guy rescued him, indicates nobility and a strong connection to the Japanese, suggesting he spent a lot of time with them before the fall - Was young during the fall of Japan (reference to him being a 'seed' implies growing up) - Has a very strong vendetta against Brittania - Face must remain hidden. Implies that if his identity were known, it could change the course of the war, making him very important - The guy promises support because he knows who Zero is, and will give them anything they want. This all indicates a Prince of Brittania, who would be a maximum of 23 at present assuming the the term 'seed' refers to a young child younger than 15, who was already in Japan and presumed dead (to allow for the fact that there was no attempt for revenge/defiance in the interim), and was estranged from the Emperor (as signified by his hatred and the fact that he was able to be hidden with a family without the Emperor bothering to find him. Although as Nunnally was lower than the 70th heir to the throne, we can assume that there are a lot of heirs, but there can't be too many who fit all of the criteria, other than the missing Prince Lelouch.
Quick reminder Lelouch was believed to be dead by the britannian royal family itself. This is seen when Lelouch claims he is the 99th emperor and one of his brothers says: "So you were alive! After we found nunally we thought we might find you"
@TheMegaUzumaki Its really simple really. Oghi was thinking with his dick and the rest were motivated by pure stupidity. Plus the story needed for this to happen to be able to go into the next plot event. But what bothers me is not that they betrayed him, but that they were rewarded at the end of the story. I mean Oghi became the fucking prime minister of Japan. He did NOTHING to earn that. NOTHING! God. Its been 10 years since I watched Code Geass and I'm still salty about it.
Not Japanese, and his hatred for Britannia makes him unlikely to be Britannian, the other possible options would be European, Chinese, or Australian. If he was European, everything except for meeting Kirihara young would still make sense
@@Greendalewitch You forgot about Zero ordering an attack on a mostly defenseless research lab that has children in it without giving detail on why they are attacking it, he didn't tell anyone about Suzaku having a F.L.E.I.J.A., he outright left the battlefield to save his sister that cause them to lose and lastly he cause a mass murder with his Geass that kill a lot of Japanese people. It wasn't pure stupidity and Lelouch betray them by having Euphemia Massacring their people to keep the war going on
Um no maybe cause after that moment alot of shocking stuff was revealed and he questioned kiriharas motives and thought kirihara knew nothing of what lelouch has done and moreover ohgi and the others knew lelouch hated brittania but for them the means he used to destroy brittania were wrong
The only drama here is that Zero is a Britannian prince. If they took his mask of and he's some nobody...what would it change? Would it be asier to trust some unknown person just because you can see his face? "Oh. So this is Zero." "Wow." "I mean, he's kinda ordinary, actually." "Who are you?" "You mean taking off my mask didn't automatically reveal who I am?" "Huh. You're ri-" "SILENCE!" "What?" "Nothing. I just like shouting silence. Now tell us your name." "No." "Damn. Okay. Well, here's all our sakuradite."
It would matter to a lot of people, actually. More than a few of the Japanese, upon finding out that Zero is a Britannian, would start to assume that his actions were part of a greater Britannian conspiracy OR that he was just trying to carve out his own empire and wouldn't be any different from the current invaders once his power was consolidated. The Britannians would encourage these rumors to sow dissent among his followers. It's better for everyone that as many people as possible believe him to be Japanese.
2wingo I'm speaking from a meta perspective. To create drama and tension, the writers contrive reasons for everyone to want to see Zero's face because of the reasons you gave. But the problem with that level of plot contrivance, is if you use it to hard, you end up with my issue. It wouldn't be hard to use the elements at play to more naturally come up with reasons to unmask him. Like the Britannians could intentionally be seeding rumors about Zero's identity as Britannian, unknowingly being correct. Create some tension as well making him admitting to not being Japanese have some more stake to it.
people won't respect a mere student as their leader. What's more, he's the prince of your sworn enemy. It brings up conspiracy theories. Also, you can't really trust anyone at that level of politics really.
@BlackDeathViral03 I doubt the school would be in much danger. The Ashfords are pretty influential, and with Nunnally, a crown princess, being there, most military factions/noble houses would think thrice about doing anything to that school. Plus, Charles would probably recognize that, while the Ashfords sheltered the children of Marianne, they would probably be severely out of the loop as far as Lelouch's "extracurricular activities". Plus, there is a risk that the Pure Bloods would turn on Britannia immediately, given Lord Jeremiah's loyalty to Marianne.
Fun Fact, in most scenes where Lelouch needs to be himself or sneak around or even do something dangerious like jumping of a building, CC generaly acts in his place as Zero. You can generaly sense it as she never talks. Except in the episode where Lelouch records voices for her.
Lelouch's geass being revealed recontextualizes everything. I assume Ohgi figured that Lelouch used his geass to force Kirihara to say these things. And indeed that is something he'd have done if the two didn't have a past.
Old Guy: Ogi I demand you to trust this guy, he's a true enemy of Britannia and his identity must be kept secret. Ogi: Ok I wont try to figure out who he is. *Ogi then spends that point on trying to find out who he is.*
Most of you may not know this, but the second season of code geass, was not what the original writers had intended, originally it was supposed to have a female zero impostor, lelouch having to try to regain leadership of the black knights and multiple other things. The reason i bring this up is i think the scene where the black knights betray Zero, was a major part of the ORIGINAL ideas for the second season. If you think about it, it makes a lot more sense then, what happens in that scene i ask you? A Britannian prince tells the black knights that Zero has been lying to them and using them for their own gains and that they are not who they think they are. Taking this into consideration, the whole betrayal scene, was possibly supposed to be a moment of triumph for Lelouch where he truly regains leadership of the black knights, out maneuvers the fake Zero and exposes them for the liar and fraud they are. Just wanted to throw in these two cents, stuff like this has happend in the past. Where writers or creators have a set story in mind, but the producers say it has to be changed. And so they have to alter their story, but try to keep parts of the original ideas and story inside it.
I can believe this. The second season seemed off compared to the first. Just like with Mass Effect. They had a plan but after the first everything was derailed. We are definitely in the wrong timeline.
quote from code ment lelouch- "alright, our food rations are running low, so everyone huddle together, cover themselves in gasoline, i'll light this match and however burns longest wins." Kallen- "wins what?" Lelouch- "being good at burning!!"
I noticed that Lelouch's visage changes towards the end of Code Geass R1 and all of R2. Like his hair is slightly spiky on the ends. I kind of prefer his details like that, but all in all he is still freaking awesome.
"The flower planted 8 years ago has finally bloomed" almost makes it sound like he was the gardener. Which is a untrue. Seeing his father's lack of concern for nunaly and their mom and coupled with paying witness to Britanias brutality, Lelouche was already resigned to destroying the Empire's foundation long before any manipulations could be seeded. Of course, the drive to complete such a goal could easily be stoked and nurtured by someone with similar interest.
@@bleed2blue1 Not really. Are you forgetting the bathroom scene when kallen "spoke to Zero" on the phone while Lelouch was standing right next to her? Most people would just come to the conclusion that they sound similar is all. Not really a plothole
@@bleed2blue1 maybe he spoke slowly with that old man that kallen and her friend didnt really heard it clearly. They a few meter away from zero that time.
Lelouch went through this elaborate plot to only show his face at the end, which he was originally asked to do in the beginning. Good job Lelouch. Edit: now that I think about it, Lelouch did this to confirm the identity of the hidden man
CC had already revealed the man's identity. And Lelouch did this to a) impress this potential backer and b) have a safeguard in case he Kyoto group tried to betray them. Plus this made it easy for him to show his face wihout the other dark knights learning his identity.
Ougi was probably the most useless of everyone in the black knights. After a while he just stood, watched and complain while even Tamaki was out in the battlefield.
After this ougi still betrayed Lelouch for a dumb reason. Just because he's actually a prince and the idiot ougi believes the prince as well. They already know that Zero is not Japanese and the that Lord of Kyoto already told them to trust yet they still have the audacity to betray Lelouch. I was actually pissed off there. After everything Lelouch did for them and that's what happened. Thy sided with the enemy and we're treated as cannon fodder, well their strategies isn't working ever since Lelouch leave.
The sheer hypocrisy of Zero's Black Knights; from Ohgi's betrayal in the future and the rest of the dim-witted rebels leads to Lelouch's downfall. He should've taken some loyalists from his benefactor to fully destroy Britannia.
heavy irony that some coward persons whom in charge turn out to be nothing less then a corrupt sell out and forget this line and the problem they forget this line "so the flawor planted 8 years ago have finally bloomed"
First meeting with kirihara after this, if lelouch is really smart would be like this. Kirihara : what do you need from us to do ur thing? Lelouch : hmm. . can we just trade our soldier except Kallen? Mine is kinda dumb and useless ffs. Kirihara : -_- Leluoch : oh but i will keep Tamaki, you know a battlefield need a clown.
“Looks like we’ll have to make money the good old fashion American way” “This is Japan” “BY STEALING IT FROM OLD PEOPLE” “Still Japan-“ “To the internet!”
Judging by the fact that Lelouch is/was a chess master, and almost unbeatable in this game, Lelouch wins but if you are looking for a battle of wits, then the order is this L-10, Light-9.9 Lelouch-8,Near-8, Mellow 7.8
And the black knights proceeded to have a huge memory relapse and completely forgot this meeting and betrayed Zero for some guy they barely know based on the same evidence.
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this lmao. As well as Lelouch saying later on in the scene "I, am NOT JAPANESE." These campy lines illustrate why I think people make this show out to be more serious than it really is.
3 movies trying to condense a plot that spanned 50 episodes, sounds like they'll be forces to butcher the amazing fleshed out plot that spanned two seasons.
