Another one of my favorite scenes from the English Dub of Code Geass R2. Johnny Yong Bosch has really cemented this as his best performance in an anime role thus far, in my opinion anyway. Code Geass is owned by Sunrise.
@@guillaumegrignard7437 that was a front. He sent Lelouch and Nunally away so that VV wouldn't target them again. Granted they placed their own plans above their children
"I WILL NOT LET YOU CALL THAT A LIE!!! Over my dead body!" Johnny did such an amazing job with Lelouch, I mean, GOSH ALL THAT EMOTION IN THAT VOICE. He's one of my fave Voice actors for a reason. But honestly, I love this scene in Code Geass, one of my faves!
Will Sullivan his parents intended a permanent forced change lelouch did bad things, forced his intentions on world a little bit, but unlike his parents desires he then completely free them from what his rule he IS different
Unlike Light. Lelouch accepts the fact he does evil things and carries the crushing weight of that guilt. Light, on the other hand, is little better than a narcissist with a god-complex.
I'm surprised Lelouch didn't bring up Mao. He lived in a "world without lies," and it drove him insane and brought untold amounts of misery. True, it's doubtful that Charles and Marianne had even heard of him, but a brief mention of a Chinese man with a mind-reading Geass would've been a nice callback.
Death Knight Zelma well it was pretty ridiculous be cuz Mao was such a good character yet he didn't have enough appearances in the show but only for 3 episodes. At least his mentioning could have made it relevant because his story about living in a world of lies is reasonable in this scene.
You know, I never thought of that until now. That's an excellent point to mention in favor of Lelouch's argument. But despite that, I'm glad he didn't mention it. The best stories with a message don't just outright tell you to your face their underlying message, they do it subtly. They work on your subconscious.
nahte123456 lelouch is the smartest damn character in the whole show, and I am not wrong, tell me who else can pilot the shinkiro like lelouch? that takes intellect like no other, his only downsides are that he is stubborn, and that he lacks any real muscle
and also to mention that Schneizel doesn't get his hand dirty, the only time he actually did something with his own hands was killing Diethard while Geassed
A Guy Lelouch is the large ham. Schneizel is soft-spoken but carries the same charm. He also had his reputation of conquering half of Europe, even Xingke had a healthy respect for the guy. Schneizel still made Lelouch get the "OMFG! WTF?!" Face twice (in the same episode too.) By moving faster than he thought he would, and then by actually having Nunnally alive and well.
Charles did abandon Lelouch. Notice that every time Lelouch gains/regains his Geass power, the first thing he does is kill a band of soldiers about to kill him.
he did if Marianne and Charles truly ever did care they V.V would had been killed by Charles after that stunt but instead of doing that they kept V.V alive Charles love for his bother was more important than actually protecting his allegedly favored wife children.
If you want an anime with the same level (or even better) than Code Geass, i recommend you Steins;Gate. Seriously, you won't regret it. Code Geass was my favorite anime when I saw, now Steins;Gate is the first.
you know to be fair Charles has been through a lot.....he lost his mom and his family.....has banged dozens of chicks and has at least for knows 100 to 150 children? and probably has an uncountable number of STD's.
Hey, I'd be acting like that if my parents were really horrible people for abandoning me and my younger sibling and banishing us to another country to be at war with my home country.
Lelouch points out there abandonment if they really wanted to protect them from V.V Charles should had took V.V's code and ended him then ending his threat to them instead they keep him alive and a threat to them.
Pionts to you Lelouch. His father absolutely deserved that. As for his mother, as Lelouch cries you can feel his heart breaking, not just for remembering the incident that blinded and crippled his sister, but for getting rid of his mother as he spent most of his life seeking to avenge her only to find she was just as horrible as his own father. Now he puts the past behind him to move to a future of peace that he helped to build by sacrificing his life (at least until Season 3 comes out). All Hail Lelouch Vi Britannia, the Unsung Hero.
You know...I always preferred the dub. For two reasons: 1) If an English speaking empire conquered a nation, you really think everyone would learn Japanese? Even in the homeland? Or do you think they'd make the conquered learn English? It just made more sense from a story perspective. 2) Johnny Young Bosch is phenomenal as Lelouch. Or in general.
I think that Britannia speaks English whilst the Japanese speaks... Well, Japanese. I also think Lelouch, under the mask/role of Zero speaks Japanese too. The shower scene with Kallen kinda backs this up.
Upon revisiting the Japanese version recently, I find I prefer several characters in the English version. Johnny Young Bosch as Lelouch is indeed phenomenal but I also enjoy Yuri Lowenthal as Suzaku, Liam O'Brien as Lloyd, and Spike Spencer as Rolo more than their Japanese counterparts. The only character I firmly prefer in Japanese is C.C. Kate Higgins does alright but she's kind of flat compared to the certain wistful quality Yukana Nogami gives the character.
Johnny's best performance yet explaining why lies, the true meaning behind child's smile, believing, and why moving forward on your two legs is important.
IMO, I would say that Schneizel was truly evil (he fits the profile of a true narcissist/sociopath). Charles on the other hand, was someone who had had enough of the world (the life he had when he was younger), and was maddened by the events in his life; he flew off the deep end (along with his brother).
LightAndDarkMdness02 I don't think Schneizel was sociopathic or sadistic, and he definitely wasn't a narcissist due to his own self-sacrificing nature. He was too detached from humanity to fully comprehend his own evil. He reminded me more of Light Yagami and his God-complex, or some twisted martyr willing to die even if it meant harming others.
If you think about it he wasn't all that bad I mean sure he blew up the capital but he didn't kill his sister Cornelia(think that's how you spell it) and essentially he wanted Damocles to be what Lelouche was the center of the worlds hatred. I would take him over Charles any day :P
@@giancarloespinal6567 Schneizel said he'd be willing to "sacrifice a couple of billion lives to assure peace". Definitely sociopathic and way off the rails. I suppose however that Charles's wish would hurt more people in the long run
It's taken me so long to fully understand what Lelouch is arguing for, but now I see he's saying a world that never changes only benefits those who are on top, and he would of been included in that privilege, but he still rejects it for the sake of others :')
@@SmokiieStop yep, some said its a deleted scene then it was leaked like around 2009 Some even said that the reason why the creator deleted it so that to put the series to a pretty good ending But then Akito the Exiled happened and it showed that a lot of people are still interested in the CG series Then the remake/recap movie happened and the Final Movie happened
This scene explains why the ending of the show was possible and everyone just stopped killing each other when Lelouch died. When Lelouch's second eye activated, he was now able to use his Geass on people twice; and in this scene he used it on everyone in the world to get them to work towards a better future.
+Nathan L It doesn't let him control people twice, it gives him a wider range of objects to control and shows that he has mastered the geass. For example, when his second eye got geass, he could control god.
Vegetable Prince of Carrots How do you know that? Remember what the emperor said: "God" was the collective unconscious of all human beings. Which means what Lelouch was doing was using his power to control all humans on earth.
Vegetable Prince of Carrots It was just a theory that would explain why it worked on the people he already Geassed. Besides, 2 eyes = two uses makes sense.
All hail this scene that made me finally like Suzaku Kururugi... For the entire series he was really annoying.. and then this came.. and he changed... and there you have it.. Zero Requiem bam!!
Tanay Of course not. He's still doing Yo Kai Watch and he's T.K. in Digimon Adventure Tri. Pretty sure he'll do Lelouch in season 3 since he did him in Akito The Exiled which came out in 2017.
The moment Johnny Yong Bosch says "You Abandoned Us" I fcking get Chills, Both him and Jun Fukuyama (my fav seiyuu) gave it all when they were voicing Lelouch.
@@Ash_10005 Not really, What Lelouch do is wipe all conflict state clean and gave people an opportunity to choose their own path and rebuild their own life the way they're want. Because he is believed that if giving a chance, people will strive toward better life and happiness. In the end, Lelouch is removed himself from the equation and no one else is received influence from him excepted Zero(susaku) who sacrificed his own choice and future as his own retribution and his own conviction to the cause.
Paul Ubbink I guess you were talking to me. Since you understood the plot, can you explain a few things to me? 1) Why did Marian and Charles die? I know that their world was rejected by Lelouch, but that doesn't mean they should die as well. Lelouch never ask God to eliminate their existence. Just for "tomorrow" Keeping the world the way it was before does not required their deaths. 2) Right after this, Lelouch conquer the strongest country in the world in 2 minutes. If it was so easy, why didn't he do this at episode 2? How did he even get there in the first place? It shouldn't be that easy. 3) Lelouch had access to a deus ex machina right there. It was literally called that. Why didn't he just ask God to remove the fleja and Schniezel so we can avoid a WW3 and not have thousands of people lose their lives? 4) Marian said that the dead will be reunited with the living ( Euphy) How does that work? I not even sure. They never really explained that well at all. They just gave it one sentence which seem like a pretty major plot point, and they just gloss over it. Plus, why would Suzaku not want to see Euphy? 5) This is the biggest part that confused me. Charles and Marian's world basically just wanted to take away the ability to lie. That was it. Then Lelouch started talking about how that world would never change, but alot of things will changed. So much will change. Just because people can never lie does not mean that humanity will be incapable of building new technology, new forms of governments, and philosophies. Hence, progress will still happen. Lelouch was putting words in his mouth.
Indigo I probably don't have the real answers, but let me try. 1) I think the two of them served as the source for the Ragnarok Connection because they supported it, the ones using the Sword of Akasha, hence their elimination was probably necessary to grant Lelouch's plea. 2) Lelouch at the beginning most likely didn't have the same resolve after he left C's world, to bear burdens which led to the brilliant ending. Such as ordering people to obey all his orders, taking away their complete liberty, with that it won't be really a problem ordering a transport. 3) Aside from the Ragnarok Connection and Geass, I don't think it can affect anything outside C's world, besides it'd be against Lelouch's request of preventing the use of the Ragnarok Connection. 4) It's a part of their goal, pretty much the Collective Unconscious is every single person's conscience, and their goal was to unite the dead ones of the Collective Unconscious and the living world, that of which would include Euphy but since she probably wouldn't want that, he declined. 5) It's actually pretty much fusing every single person into a single being, the Collective Unconscious, so no one can lie to anybody, and their would probably be no real individuality. These are all just speculations BTW.
Bosch was Adam in Power Rangers, Vash the Stampeed in Trigun, Renton Thurston in Eureka seveN, Sasori in Naruto Shippuden, Lelouch vs Britannia here, Ichigo Kurosaki in Bleach, and now he's going to be Jonathan Joestar in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 1 Phantom Blood. Hearing him here, I believe he's the best choice for JOnathan JOestar.
"I will not let you call that a lie! Over my dead body!" This line, coupled with Lelouch's expression makes for one of the best and unforgettable moments in anime for me. Absolutely brilliant.
Brian Ngo He say's "this is a request" which means he's asking 'god' to do something, using Geass to deliver the request, not commanding him. This is compounded by Charles belief that he couldn't do it, considering how related their powers are, and Charles never did so, although he would have tried. So Charles could not command 'god', but Lelouch could ask 'god' and be answered. Or at least that seems the most likely chain of advents.
I'm gonna admit it, but I much prefer the dub for this anime. As much as it hurts to say that, I feel like the casting done for the original audio was in poor taste. If you listen to the Japanese voice actor, it doesn't seem like it comes naturally to him. Kind of awkward. In the English dub however, one can feel all the emotions and they all fit in.
If Lelouch really did take Charles' code and become immortal, it would actually make sense, at 4:32 Lelouch tells suzaku to stay out of it, he could have wanted suzaku to stay back so he could get the code. Just a theory, I know the creators said that they are leaving his supposed death up to the viewer's interpretation.
Man, I wish there was some way Lelouch could've lived! He was so epic, the world doesn't know it but it has lost a brilliant life. Some people believe he's alive still because of the end scene, the driver of the wagon C.C.'s on looks like Lelouch.
He is alive, after he kills his father he gains Code, before this he only had Geass, hence why the show is called Code Geass. C2 only had code, which is immortality, and now Lelouch has it, after receiving it from his father upon killing him.
If you ever get the chance when around friends, whether they have watched the show or not just look for an opportunity to quote, "You're a fool Lelouch! God cannot be defeated by the power of the king!!!" The looks you'll get are worth it every time.
And the collective unconscious decided to listen, because what Charles and Marianne's dream was not what humanity wanted. It was because of Lelouch's geass that he was even able to ask that time should forever move forward. And his geass "level up" was badass and allowed Lelouch to take Charles's code.
Lelouch's power is quite amazing. Other than the conditions and rules he needs to follow. His power quite literally is Will. He didn't command god in this instance instead he asked. This is amazing. Because it shows that his power is his Will. Command or not his power is a reflection of what he wants and his power grants that.
Even though I consider most of R2 weaker than season 1 of Code Geass. This has to be my favorite part of the entire series, the tensity and philosophy behind this scene are absolute genius. Lelouch wishes to avenge his mother and take revenge on his father only to learn the horrible truth. Both of his parents idles of "killing god and resting the world" and having "no change, everything will be the same" are completely insane and no matter what "good intentions" they've had, it won't wipe away their sin. And my god the dubbing, I prefer watching anime subbed but watching Code Geass subbed and dubbed was fantastic. Unlike other dubs Code Geass actually feels like it has EMOTION, something so many other dubs lack. And of course don't get me started on how Code Geass's psychology fit easily with the 2016 election. That I think, explains itself.
