Born and raised on the southside, didn't get deep dish till I was older and was able to venture out into the city, I will never eat deep dish pizza with a knife and fork, my favs are Lou Malnatis, Pizanos, and Pequod's, straight Chicago classics, great video thank you
Shit is good too... Pair that pizza w/a ice cold brew Man, you might break out in a song. It's 4-24 5:30 in the morning & I'm thinking about getting a big pie to devour all weekend while watching sports...😋
Visited Chicago for the first time earlier this month. We tried Pequod’s, Giordano’s and Lou Malnati’s. That Pequod’s crust is the game changer! Best pizza out of the 3. Wish we could’ve tried the other pizza shops but we were only there for 4 days.
I like to think of Chicago Tavern style pizza as Chicago's wife. She's your rock. Your everyday. Your main. Chicago Deep dish..... that's the goomah. Deep dish is who chicago calls when it's ready to get down, dirty and nasty. Both belong to Chicago.
Kudos, on a great video of Chicago Classic Deep Dish pizza. What got me the most from this video was you wearing a Sox shirt in the Wrigleyville area at Pequod's. Respect, to all The Chicago Team's as a Chi-Towner. 😀👍
My wife and I are coming to Chicago this weekend! And we have been watching so many of your videos, but one I haven’t seen yet. A lot of people like to take short weekend trips and get as much done as they can, how about a 48 hours in Chicago episode with things you have to see before you leave?!
I’m a diehard Southsider who grew up thinking the best pizza joints were only on the Southside. No one could tell me different. Then someone challenged me to try Pequads and holy smokes it’s the best ever!!! I’m in the Southwest burbs now and we still have it often!!! We either go up to Lincoln Park or get it via Dwell Social. I have one coming later in March! LOL. Thanks bro. Great video.
As someone who spent their entire life in the inner city of Chicago, before moving to Seattle in 2005, I recommend you guys head up to the NW side one day and try Trattoria Porretta. Their deep dish was always phenomenal and is definitely worth the trip over there. You will NOT be disappointed!👍
I've lived in chicago the last 5 years and grew up in the suburbs. YES Chicagoans eat deep dish pizza I have since i was a child and my boyfriend and I often order it when we wanna stay in.
Awesome video bro!!!! Used to go down to Art of Pizza back when I was at Devry on Belmont and Western. I thought that was the best back then, early 2000s.
I'm going to Chicago for the first time on July and it always makes me ansious when I visit a new place (specially since english isn't my first language), wanting to know how to take the train I came across your channel and have been watching your videos nonstop, I already have some places I want to visit as soon as I get there! Thank you for your videos, they are really useful for awkward people like me 😅
That Pizzano pizza looks delicious and one that I’d like to definitely try when I get to Chicago. I like that it has a crispy crust - great for those carb cravings !!! Lol
Next video you should hit “best wings in Chicago” I travel often just to eat at Output Lounge on West Grand for the Sweet and Spicy flavor wings. Curious to see what other spots to hit next time I go
Kudos for wearing the Sox jersey! Go Go White Sox! I loved the square cut tavern growing up, but the deep dish has a place in my heart. Oh stuffed, not deep dish.
🍕🍕LUIS!!! MAAAAAAAN!!! I can watch this damn video all day!! Never been to the Chi but this banger just put it on my bucket list… APPRECIATE THE TOUR 💯💯💯
i lived in roscoe village so i used to go to art of pizza all the time. to me it is very underrated and is one of the best deep dish ive ever had besides giordanos or exchequer.
I was hoping you were going to include your *own* neighborhood pizza joint Pequods :-) I just got back from visiting C and happened to get an Airbnb to be close to Lincoln Hall for a concert...and it happened to be right up Weber/Clayborne so within easy walking distance of that pizzeria. That's the only deep dish we tried while there...but it was delicious. The place was packed to the rafters at like 4:30 in the afternoon!
I am visiting chicago this month again and want to try deep dish again beyond giordanos or Lou Malnati. But I do agree that it is most popular with tourists.
This guy can sure eat. I’ve seen several of his videos since I will be going to Chicago for first time in March. I think I will try pequods pizza. Sounds good. I’m staying in the loop for a whole week. I have time to see the city and Chicago without just hitting the tourist spots. Any recommendations for areas or places to visit that are nice but not touristy? Including restaurants. I love food. All types so long as it has no onion lol
Wis some of the people from Chicago that come to the south east would open some of these pizzerias and other restaurants here so we can enjoy them and your fellow Chicagoans won't starve I never knew so many good foods existed until a friend invited me to NJ. .I gained ten pounds in one week but it was good 👍.
@@LuisGustoComedy yes exactly. Crust and sauce to me are the best. I understand the cheese isn’t as heavy but that’s why I love it. It’s not as heavy to eat then. I never get their sausage though. Their pesto chicken is 🔥🔥
From the UK I've never had deep dish, man I would love to try this.. I'm eating that with a knife and fork though cos it looks messy but yeah when you get to the crust I'd pick it up
OMG! This summer I'm going to Chicago for the fourth time and I did not know about this places. For sure I will try one of them. I am kind of new in the channel, why did not you include Lou Malnati's or Giordanos?
The deep dish pizza looks good, now if you want a good thin crust pizza, and you are near East Peoria Illinois, go to a place called FireHouse pizza and pub. It is right on main street, behind the Wendy's, get the thin crust meat lovers, it is awesome, and the only pizza I ever eat anymore.
I'm from Bartonville. FH is pretty good, I've been a few times. If I'm in the area though I'll usually get Agatucci's in Peoria, or Tyroni's in Bartonville.
I would love for you guys to go try my 3 best favorite pizza joints in Chicago and that would be Connie's..Eduardo's..and Chicago Pizza and oven grinder company..hopefully you get to try them one day I will be curious to know what's you guys thought on them..🍕🐂
I agree it does get soft fast - but you're not going to eat more than 2 maybe 3 pieces tops in one sitting anyway. So you take the rest home and crisp the bottom in a skillet as leftovers.
I don’t haven’t eaten animals in a long while but my faves were pizanos, pequods, Due no doubt and of course Art of pizza was very good too mainly because I could get 3 different styles slices. Also I think the fullest flavor appreciation of pizza is through vegetables! Especially basil, spinach , sun dried tomatoes etc. I agree though. Hands on food is key. More flavor and energy it seems. Serious detox/fast is needed afterwards lol
Hello excellent work on finding the great pizza. I’m from Chicago born and raised on pizza . Please let me know if I can buy you guys a stuffed or pan pizza the should be in the 5 s mama Luna Resturant please check them out and when you two lovely pizza tasters go there for your video tours tell Spiro sent u
Funny you mention Mama Lunas. When I was a kid in the early 70s we would go to our uncles hardware store at the end of the year and help with inventory. The big payoff was to go to Mama Lunas for a Pizza. Never will forget it. Thanks for letting me reminisce.
