Top 3 best dehumidifiers we've tested:
1. Midea Cube (MAD50S1QWT) on Amazon - geni.us/CTGG
2. Frigidaire FFAD5034W1 on Amazon - geni.us/XlXBQ2
3. hOmeLabs HME020031N
For especially small rooms, we recommend a smaller version of the Cube - the MAD20S1QWT. See the MAD20S1QWT on Amazon - geni.us/qxmzh
If you need built-in pump functionality (if you need to drain to a location far away from or above the dehumidifier) we recommend the built-in pump version of the Cube - the MAD50PS1QWT. See the MAD50PS1QWT on Amazon - geni.us/HUcJxx
In this video we list and discuss the moisture removal rate, energy efficiency, noise output, and hygrometer accuracy of the 15 most popular dehumidifiers we've tested. We also briefly discuss water tank capacity and portability.
Top rated units are listed above. The TCL H50D44W, Hisense DH7021KP1G, and GoveeLife H7151 were also strong performers in our tests. Other popular models like the Toshiba TDDP5014RES, GE APHL50LB, and Whirlpool WHAD50PCW did not perform as well in our tests.

Had x2 of the Frigidaire, same model as the #2 pick. First unit died in 1 year, the second died after 2 years. Both froze up on the coil, which is a leak, but fixing costs are more than replacement. That is IF you can find a repair person.

Outstanding video as always I know you always recommend 50 pint dehumidifiers, but it might be nice to get some reviews on some smaller 35 and 22 pint units for those who have smaller living spaces or don’t need as big of unit

First of all, thank you for your feedback. I appreciate it. :) To answer your question: I unfortunately only have time to test and compare full size 50 pint units. I do list my recommendation for smaller rooms (based on my testing of larger units) In the description to the video,

I have 4 of the Midea Cubes... So far they've been one of the better dehumidifiers I've used. One 1 issue so far, with one of them having a pump that stopped working. To their credit, Midea cut me a check for the full amount. At the same time, I wish they could have just sent me a pump since it dehumidifies fine, just has trouble pumping water. The other 3 have been running very well. They're not the quietest I've ever used, but very effective.

I would love to see a review of the new IQ HEALTHPRO PLUS XE it seems like an important update to an older purifier.

:( 20 - 30 years ago I felt that I knew the better brands as was comfortable buying one. Now, for many things there's no brands that I really trust as there's been a race to the bottom.

Disappointed to see Danby so low because I think that's our 50 year old one that I want to replace and Costco has it, so easy to safely buy, although a different model from that listed here.

Are you really still recommending the frigidaire 4 years later?! Mine stopped working after a year with the EC error code and there’s a LOT of people who got the same issue. This review shouldn’t be trusted.

This review isn't a longevity test althought they do have a column for reliability, that's obviously difficult for them to reliably evaluate.

In his defense I has 2 Frigidaire that lasted over 8 years. I ended up giving them away when they were no longer needed.

Unfortunately, for the Midea cube one must lift the entire compressor unit off of the tank to empty it. Cheaper than making a tank but I like the 50 year old style of an easily removable rectangular tank. One look at the new squished tanks and I just think that "I don't want to have to clean that!"

@@penng9182 yup same as mine. low on refrigerant. small leak somewhere and unable to repair/charge...there should be a law. Checked out some commercial units...very expensive with mixed reviews. I miss my 25yr old Kenmore. Stupidly gave it away and it's probably still going

Can you list these units in order please, from the easiest to clean and maintain (regular and thorough), to the most annoying useless design, that is so pathetic because it makes it nearly impossible?

Do brands matter? 2016: 104 models from 13 brands in one recall due to overheating causing fires. Outwardly many models look substantially similar but even when they don't there may be substantially the same components inside. The illusion of choice. "This recall involves 20, 25, 30, 40, 45, 50, 65 and 70-pint dehumidifiers with brand names Danby, De’Longhi, Fedders, Fellini, Frigidaire, GE, Gree, Kenmore, Norpole, Premiere, Seabreeze, SoleusAir and SuperClima. Recalled model numbers and date codes are listed below. The brand name and the pint capacity are printed on the front of the dehumidifier. The model number and date code are printed on a sticker on the back, front or side of the unit. The dehumidifiers are white, beige, gray or black plastic and measure between 19 and 24 inches tall, 13 and 15 inches wide, and 9 and 11 inches deep. " "Gree Reannounces Dehumidifier Recall Following 450 Fires and $19 Million in Property Damage; Brand Names Include Frigidaire, Soleus Air, Kenmore and Others" "Name of Product: Dehumidifiers Hazard: The dehumidifier can overheat, smoke and catch fire, posing serious fire and burn hazards to consumers. Remedy: Refund Recall Date: November 29, 2016 Units: About 2.5 million (in addition, 55,000 were sold in Canada) This recall was first announced in September 2013, updated in October 2013 and expanded in January 2014."
