Unity is also the only engine Nintendo "recommends" for development on their own website. I heard that Unity makes it rather manageable to build a Switch version of your game. Otherwise it requires tedious porting.

Wii U had lots of Unity based indie titles, it was also the recommended solution for small studios at that time.

@@hingedevoper69 Yeah, I wish Godot had an export template for the Switch. I understand the template would need to be closed source and perhaps even paid. However I can't imagine the Godot's core team ever doing something like that.

You know what would be a good video? Rather than "What's the best engine" or "What engine to use" id love to see multiple videos about what makes every engine special. I'm not talking about contracts and such, I'm talking about little mechanics, framerates, supports, basically the little stuff that makes every engine unique.

GameMaker and Unreal also supports Nintendo Switch development and games like UNDERTALE and DELTARUNE are made with GameMaker so those aren’t bad bets for development either

“Believe it or not that masterpiece was made in Unity”. The Unity is amazing game engine, making a games in it is too easy and there is a lot awesome games made in unity, for instance Hollow Knight. So why are you asking to believe or not ?

It seems that those guys are porters, they port games from Godot to Switch, not Godot itself :(

@@gabrielxavier2676 that's true, but is that a problem? You'd need access to the platform, a devkit and knowhow how to port the engine yourself if you'd want to do it alone. Godot Engine isn't behind any corporate entity so the engine creators themselves can't provide console support directly.

@@VaultBoy871 There's no real way to port to the Switch yourself. There's a dev of Godot that offers a paid service to build it for the Switch

Unity as an engine is the first to strongly make popular the idea of democratizing Game Development. Giving free access to commercial Standard Game Engine features to aspirant Game Developers around the world, it's like the Blender of Game Developers :) And even with all that accessibility, it still delivers on power and quality, because apart from the awesome mid-low end kinda games unity powers, it can now accommodate AAA game Dev, this done with the recent DOTS C# updates that makes C# as powerful as the usual industrial C++. Unity is also the only engine that doesn't slack and has the most seamless integration with very many third party platforms and external tools. Hence, Unity deserves its hype. It's worth it, subjectively and objectively speaking.

Hey, you guys probably don't remember me no more, but i used to be a great fan and a very inspired person by your work, you guys used to support me and i was a moderator in your discord server at some point, i used to always congratulate you for the amazing milestones but the one i wished for most of the time is the 100k one which seems you guys broke and are aiming for 200k, it really means a lot to see you guys hit this level and i hope you guys all the best in your career as it doesn't seem as an easy job, All the best!

They don't use engines in the classic sense. They program their own frameworks for every single game and resuse parts of it for other games.
