Thank you so much for this recommendation. I just tested the video capabilities of my M50 last Saturday on a flowers field. The quality of the 4K is amazing, but man about 95% f the footage was unusable because of wobble (the camera was bare, so it was 100% hand-held and sadly I did not bring my tripod). I am setting up my M50 for videography, I am waiting on the Viltrox speedbooster and the Neewer cage that I believe you recommended to arrive next month. I am considering getting later a 22mm prime lens or something alike. I will see how much I improve with the cage, if not I might just buy this gimbal, your footage looks very smooth.
You are certainly correct about finicky gimbals. I have purchased 4 in my lifetime and returned 3 of them. The only reason I kept the 4th (Crame M2) is that it worked "most" of the time. But perhaps worth asking here, is the M50 actually your first choice to shoot video?
I noticed a couple of interesting new stylistic things you did in this video. Like the small drama scene. Was the idea that you'd lost your daughter and you were scrambling to find her? The sequence really showed off the steadiness of the gimbal.
@@PurpleFlush - Canon do still support the M50, but now the R50 has been released, that support will come to an end in a number of years time - long after most people have replaced their M mount cameras.
Thanks for the review. What are the main differences/benefits compared to the M3? Wondering what I would miss out on if choosing to get a second hand M3 rather than a new M3s?
I was looking for info on M50 accessories, not only did I find a fellow Melburnian (I was like 'wait that's Port Melbourne.'), but we also have the same camera bag 😂
Hello Mark. One reviewer said that Zhiyun M3S motor strugle in underslung mode. Did you notice it. I need gimbal for toddler so underslung mode will be used probably most of the time. Can you recommend small gimbal that works well in this mode. I have Sony zve10. Thank you
I’ve been trying to decide if I want to get a gimbal and the M3s has been on my radar. But I have a few questions: 1. Will it Also work with a small rig cage on the M50 or M6 (I have both) 2. My favorite lenses for video are the sigma 16 and the 18-35 with an adapter but those are both heavy. So would they even work? And can you even adjust the zoom with a lens on the gimbal?
Would you recommend this over the Hohem AI tracking gimbal for my m50? This would be my first gimbal. Whichever one I get based on your recommendation lol
I just bought the R50, My question is when going from 18mm to 45mm do you need to rebalance? Can the gimbal motors handle it? Or would it be better to balance it at 25mm like right in the middle.
There doesn't seem to be space to unlatch the door on the right of the M50 that has the micro-USB port - were you actually able to use the wired connection? Is it necessary?
@mark those links don't work outside of us if you have the Amazon app installed. I'm in NL and it just brings the Amazon app to the home page when I click either link. Might help to specify the product model in the description if links can't be fixed.
@@StefanRogin yes, it does this when there isn’t stock of the product in those countries, once it’s in stick it should automatically update. That’s how it’s suppose to work anyways.
Oh, I've just bought quick release update for original M3. One thing I noticed - all original quick release in both versions are not compatible with arca swiss.
This will be far more portable, but will only work well with prime lenses, and smaller zooms. The DJI is pretty big, but will handle more. I really like the new Weebill 3s. It's the best gimbal you can buy for size, price, performance, ratio.
I would go for this one. It will handle those lenses and is smaller, with a better user interface. I like the 3s too, I have both, but only use it when the camera/lens combo won’t work on the M3S.
@@markwiemels ok thanks for replying! ❤️ do you have an arca Swiss plate you’d recommend for the M50 that doesn’t get in the way of the batt door? I’ve been considering the falcam f38 or f22 plates but can’t find any reviews of that system with the M50. (Make a video about it?) 🙏😬
I assume the cheaper M2S does NOT have the three killer features you highlighted here... is that correct? It's not just a lower mass capacity but also fewer features?
@@markwiemels Just checking my kit the biggest I think I will run is an A7C + 16-35mm f4 FE PZ... what do you think? Too big for the M2S..? Otherwise more typically ZV-E10 + 11mm f1.8 E or maybe the 15mm f1.4 E... P.S. you do a lot of vlogging in my old stomping ground : )
@markwiemels Mark, I just got my Crane M3S. I can't fit the usb cable (for camera control) into the micro usb slot on the M50 because the port is blocked by the tilt motor. Same problem would exist with hdmi cable. the port is blocked by the gimbal unless i move the M50 far to the left, which I'm not sure is workable. Im also new to gimbal balancing but this complication seems to be built in. Looking for a right angle ribbon-micro usb to usb C cable option. That might work. But it's disappointing.
Mark I know you talked about the fish eye lens for astro with the Canon M50. Any advice or videos on astro settings in general for Canon M50 aside from the moon video? Enjoy your content. TIA.
@@markwiemels yes, I checked out their list, but it would be awesome to see someone's hands on experience. So far that I've seen nobody paired up this gimbal with any Fuji cameras other than the X100V os something like that.
I have a canon M50 Mark 2. I can't figure out how to press a button on the gimbal so that the camera starts recording. I need to hit the record button on the camera itself. Is what I'm trying to do possible? I can't find any settings to connect via Bluetooth or whatever to connect m50 to the crane m3. I have the USB-C to micro USB connected to my camera from the gimbal. It seems to do absolutely nothing. Can you please help me with this? Thank you
will it support the smallrig cage? i would get tired of removing the cage and putting it back on just to use the gimbal. hence why i havent bought a gimbal yet.
I got the canon m50 and the crane 2s. But the gimbal can not handle the camera in vertical mode. Do you have another gimbal suggestion for me ? Is the 3s able to do so ?
It’s an evolution, the quick release, Bluetooth control, and wired control for more cameras are the main upgrades. These are small updates that make a big difference in usability. They are real hardware updates, so they had to give it a slightly updated name. Even Zhiyun said to me, this is not a big update, it’s just a product evolution.
I frustrating when they don’t upgrade firmware on old models to work with new cameras. I have a Weebill S that I use with my M50 but it won’t talk with my R10. Very annoying.
@@markwiemels agreed. Is but maybe to ease of use justifies it (?.....idk I'm just planning to buy it) The undersling handle looks so comfy. Maybe time will tell
I bought this on your recommendation and its absolute trash, could never get this to connect to my phone, either android or iphone. Did a firmware upgrade, it worked for 20 min and then shutoff never to turn back on again. Back to amazon it goes.
I think you probably just got a bad unit, which can happen with any product. Amazons easy return system is great though, it’s the main reasons I shop with them so much.
@@markwiemels possibly, UPS picked it up today yo return back, will get the replacement in 3 days, hope it's better and I just got unlucky but some things like the app itself are pretty poor, the unit was decent out of the box in manual mode then just fell apart. If the next one is just as bad I'll have to chalk it up to a company taken a once hold product and doing cost reductions to keep the price the same but end up making it worse. Have seen it on a few other products I bought this year.
