With the success of the original Clutch, the cuff and Peak Desgins other straps, The Peak Design Micro Clutch is a grip that promises to elevate handling your mirrorless camera. After using it extensively with my x100v for over a month, I have a range of opinions. While there are certainly some noteworthy features, there are also aspects that left me wanting more. Join me as I break down the pros and cons of the Peak Design Micro Clutch, so you can make an informed decision before adding it to your Fuji x100v, Sony A7iv or any other mirrorless cameras!
If you are interested in the micro clutch please consider purchasing using this link. It doesn't cost you anything but it really helps me:

Did you back the Micro Clutch on Kickstarter? If you did are you happy with your choice to do so?

Yes, and yes.

@@cbimage is their anything you haven't liked about it?
@cbimage
@cbimage Год назад
@@selishots no. As you have pointed out the adjustment is a little fiddly, but it didn't take long to understand how to do it. I'd have preferred an easier way to access the SD card and battery, but I couldn't work out a better system than PD has designed.
@selishots
@selishots Год назад
@@cbimage the better system would he bottom plates designed for each specific camera model but from a business, manufacturing and fulfillment standpoint that definitely isn't feasible
@selishots

@@FMJP yeah I agree, definitely wouldn't want to use with larger lenses

I have a black leather cover on my X100V that has an opening over the battery compartment allowing for easy changing, I suspect it wouldn't be compatible with the Micro Clutch. Thoughts?
@selishots
@selishots Год назад
Yeah it could possibly work but I really doubt it would. It depends how the cover connects to the camera

It looks cool but also can’t see a use for me honestly haha I like my wrist strap from theirs but it’s faster to get the strap off and on for what I need haha
@selishots
@selishots Год назад
I never liked the cuff, always felt like it put weird pressure on my wrist if I wasn't holding onto the camera
@EasyTigerCreative
@EasyTigerCreative Год назад
@@selishots it’s not meant to let the camera just dangle but more for safety if it falls out of your hands. I usually clip the camera to the quick release plate and unclip the wrist strap with their quick release. Works great for me.

The fact that you need an Allen wrench to change your battery is an instant deal breaker. Instantly rules out any professional use like you said . Unless your using cheaper primes (ex. Non-L series canon glass) it definitely seems like any setup would be way to heavy to trust the micro clutch I don’t see many applications for it other than the way you used it in this video
@selishots
@selishots Год назад
The bigger issue is that it's not even a normal Allen wrench, it's their own weird design that's significantly less grippy then a normal Allen wrench
@evansalmonsen
@evansalmonsen Год назад
@@selishots so if you loose that you just can’t change your battery , makes zero sense to me

Yup! And who knows how peak design will deal with sending just the tool

their mount to a backpack also requires a wrench to replace a battery on x100
