So surreal... As I listen to you speak, I hear some type of French, Swiss/Swedish, Irish all mixed. I am an accent connoisseur, so I really love pegging people down. I have immediate aunts, uncles, and cousins living in Paris/Nice, btw! edit- Switzerland, not Swedish.

I agree with the unforgiving aspect when it comes to relationships. I do tend to really judge people if they don't measure up to my standards, and I judge people closer to me even moreso "because I care!!" It's probably an unhealthy trait of the INFJ, but it is a trait, and it is a trait I don't immediately want to acknowledge. Your statement "Fe can be VERY forgiving" as you nod your head - we all know that you're probably less forgiving than most people. We INFJs all trick ourselves with that statement - "What do you mean?? I'm totally forgiving!!" - as we silently judge everyone and hold on to grudges for all time. The doorslam basically solidifies the permanence of a grudge. And those judgmental feelings pour back in whenever we see a memory totem of that person.
@RensRoom
@RensRoom 5 лет назад
Interesting perspective, Njim! You're right, my outward self probably considers itself forgiving where the inward self might be less, and more likely to hold grudges. It's quite a complex dynamic, which you seem to know remarkably well.
@christinaf8417
@christinaf8417 5 лет назад
@@RensRoom I disagree because I forgive but it's the forgetting that I don't do. I will forever be mindful of what someone has done as to not allow it to happen again. I'll still be polite but won't entertain a close relationship

Basic decaf, What would one consider to be a healthy expression of Fe? Empathy...What would one consider to be an essential ingredient to authentic foregiveness? Empathy. We all have unresolved issues with our childhood experiences...Which of course manifest in all sorts of unpleasantries. Without self-compassion, life can be torturous and unfulfilling. True love cannot be selfless. My only son (34 yrs. old), has been manipulating and gaslighting me for decades. I'm now in the painful process of closing the door,( not slamming). Trying as best I can to deal with his, (and my own), judgement, fear and co-dependance. I'm 68 yrs old, and still stumbling along.."bloodied feet and bent back", with many lessons yet to be learned.

Again commenting before this video is complete not really for your information but for your viewers to connect with, because you already know me better than a lot of people... I am only "purposefully" secretive of my innermost feelings or thoughts that I am fearful of being judged about. I do not mind wearing my heart on my sleeve, and I do not mind being vulnerable, as that is how I connect with others in hope they will also open up to me. However, I do find that I am actually quite accidentally secretive because there are so many sides to me that it is very hard to explain where I stand, so I often do not. I just go with a basic "I sit on both sides of the fence" copout rather than describing the complexities of how I feel.

I'm 60yo and up till 3 years ago have always worn my heart on my sleeve. Naively, I didn't know there were "people" out to use me. I've discovered since then that they have been part of my life for a long time, gathering all my personal secrets to use against me. Its changed who I am, it's broken my heart and I have caged her up.

I particularly loved your comments about a strong sense of self and would love for you to speak more on that if you can. I don't see this discussed regarding INFJ, but it certainly rings true for me. As far as the more negative aspects of an INFJ, that the article described, I personally agree with the article. At least, I agree that unhealthy INFJs will be unforgiving partners, can be very critical, set too high expectations, etc. A more mature or healthy INFJ will hopefully not do those things. But I certainly see in myself, this pattern of falling in love with people (romantically or platonically), and falling in love with what I envision for the person. When the vision doesn't manifest or I feel they are moving in the wrong direction, I have lost interest very quickly. And when I wasn't able to recognize I had lost interest, I did cause unnecessary harm, before we parted ways. Part of the "door slam" I've done in the past is out of embarrassment on my part, for having someone feel so close to me and then be blindsided by my realization that I didn't like them as much as I thought. I avoid them out of shame. My complaint with the article you read is that there needs to be more distinctions between healthy and unhealthy behaviors. Qualifiers such as "this is an INFJ at their best" or "at their worst" would be more accurate. This is probably true for most mbti-related content. Thank you for your video! Very enlightening and entertaining!

"One of the most all inspiring, creative genius". The emphasis is on the creative. Our genius lays in creativity. For me that is true, at least. I am certainly not genius in any other category, hahaha. Is it true for every INFJ? It's anyones guess. "Their true self is mostly discovered through their literature or artistic production." Incidentally, I am writing a book. And I think, my inner self really comes alive in that world...I can express ideas and beauty, purely derived from my mind, which I wouldn't share with someone otherwise. I read somewhere that the difference between an INFJ and an INFP is that INFP's express their ideas. Your points are intriguing and true. To be honest, when I saw the 26 minutes I looked at the clock wondering if this is something I want to invest my time in but as soon as you were done with the intro :P I was hooked and investing time into this was no longer a choice but rather an obsession. Lastly, the article speaks about our type being the least likely to stay in long term relationships but that completely contradicts with our sense of loyalty and searching for 'the one'. Once you are married, your search is over.

In my notes about me as INTJ, I wrote something like : I have this particular experience with people, and world, as if be detached allow me to be more close to them. Both, I live lonely and I live with all people. People unconsciously seems to know that I know, that I have the information they need, the advice, the solution to their problem.

Reading this article and discovering what it means to be an INFJ and this channel have really helped to make sense of so many things for me. I was able to relate to so much from that article but I’m glad you were here to say not all of us are so creative or writers because that’s definitely not me haha, I’m more the science guy. I have always been mystified and a bit ashamed of my ability to be so altruistic and yet so selfish at the same time. I could relate to so many of the harsh truths described in that article. I have learned to adapt in life as any maturing person does, but the reality of our inner world still puzzled me. It’s nice to know I’m not alone with these contradictions though 😅. Thank you for all your videos!

I’m glad you did the video on it. I listened to some lady going on and on about how wonderful an INFJ is while I was cleaning. It was all lovely but seemed dumb. Seriously, who in the world was she talking about? I love to be flattered but not lies. I know very lite but she said we can get so caught up in the social we forget to be an introvert. That didn’t work in the old days when I got drunk first before a party. Most people never knew I drank when I got sober. Maybe it brought me up to normal.

Hmm I'm not finished yet but I want to point out that when the article suggested it is hard to peg that an INFJ is a genius, I don't think they meant intellectually speaking, but that is my interpretation of the sentence and context surrounding it. I severely identify with your aversion to that statement, (if it was aversion, it may have been more skepticism...) because it seems rather uncomfortable to us to admit we are awe-inspiring or genius level. But I do think they meant genius in the aspect of how we use our Ni to piece together everything and reach our sometimes "magical" insights and sometimes eerily accurate predictions or just "knowing" things... as most other types do not do that, so it can be seen by others as awe-inspiring and genius but as I said not really in the "IQ" sense. Maybe I am wrong to say all this and I don't think you will be offended, I am simply showing you my perspective because maybe (not likely though) you didn't see it this way before. :) And maybe I should watch the entire video before commenting, but I didn't want to lose my train of thought, as that often happens lol.

In my experience as an INFJ, married to a woman for more than twenty years, relationships require finesse. While I have my need for privacy and solitude, I have to recognize and accept my wife's needs for communication and companionship. Sometimes we differ on how these issues are worked out, but I generally appreciate her acceptance of my need for solitude and we just live together and happy. In other words, we compromise. I sometimes go to family functions, and sometimes I do not. But, I always listen to her need for me to be present. I do not always want to go be social, but sometimes I put her desires above my own. That's all part of the balance of being healthy and being in a relationship.

I think you might have misread the section about literary and artistic efforts by INFJs: it is true that not all INFJs write or create art, but what the article is explaining is that those pursuits are probably the only window through which you can genuinely peer into the depths of the INFJs inner-workings. I do have a certain hesitancy in sharing my poetry, both because the symbolism is frequently misread by some, and because my order-driven Enneagram 1 self finds it difficult to resist rhyming couplets. Unfortunately that isn’t something that is currently in fashion. Still, I have to listen to a fellow INFJs words “let those who have eyes see, let those who have ears hear”. By the way, the reason that I think astrology is brought into the website is not necessarily because of a belief that planets influence our destiny, but because at its root Astrology is also a system of personality archetypes. We INFJs frequently thrive on archetypes.❤️ Whether you conform to those archetypes due to your time of birth is not necessarily what’s being referred to.

I'm glad I decided to watch this video, I do feel much closer to INFJ now. The thing that hit me pretty hard was the adaptability, I could not yet find that explanation anywhere. I am pretty sure that I'm an introvert, yet I am really kind of a "social" person when I'm out, and it really confused me because I knew for sure that I'm not an extrovert, of all things. Also, as I think about this, I realize how I've never yet had an actual "deep" friendship with anyone so far that I can recollect, and..yeah.. I've always felt I can never fully "connect" with other people. And especially, the part where it said that "they're active when others are passive", it really hit home. I've been jumping back and forth on my type for so long.. I've given it so much thought, I really don't want to type myself wrong tbh, but..I think.. I'm drawing near a conclusion. I might be an INFJ. I think I'll finalize it after thinking a bit more..but I'm a bit glad..yes. Thank you so much, your channel is a blessing, and your knowledge is amazing.♥️

Least likely to be in a long term relationship? I highly disagree, for myself personally anyway. And for the INFJs I personally know. I go into relationships easily but I think that was due to my desperation for intimacy and connection. I actually have real trouble leaving a relationship even if it is toxic. BUT, I can see what they mean in that INFJs do need to be alone, like out of a relationship. I sometimes wish I had experienced time to myself, as I have been in relationships since I was 19. One was my ex husband, 8 years, and my current bf of 5 1/2 years. I do fantasize about being single sometimes, but admittedly, I think that is for very different reasons than being "alone" because my bf is ISTP and he needs more alone time than I do, so we are very compatible in this way.

i disagree with the comment that INFJs are least likely to be in a long term relationship also. I am an INFJ and have personally never been in any relationship less than 3 years. Yes i do desire to be alone but i also think that i see through people right away and therefore tend to not even become involved in the slightest bit with those that i feel wouldnt be a match for a long term relationship - essentially i feel that a short term relationship is what would be less likely for an INFJ to have. I wouldnt even bother responding to a text from someone i wasnt already seeing some sort of path to the future with - I would rather just be alone.

Im SO sorry to be taking up your comments but I just have to add things as I watch this. I am slightly offended by both the long term relationship comment and the very unforgiving of fault in their lovers and making their lovers' life hell. I am super happy that you agree it is not true on either claim. Obviously everyone of us is different but even generally speaking, we are very forgiving about faults because we are so understanding, seeing the "whys" of why that fault is there... However, we are perfectionists, and I do see that we can be judgmental in a sense to our lovers, but simply because we always want to improve ourselves and others... so we may push for that, and that could be uncomfortable for them. I think it is better explained that way.

I am a Clinical Psychologist with 30 years of experience dealing with people. I was branded a INFJ quite sometime ago. I never really accepted that evaluation because placing 'labels' on people puts them into a box. It limits their potentiality and personal growth. At worse, it can destroy a individual's self determination and freedom. I have never encountered a 'classical' INFJ before. Why? Because certain characteristics of this personality type have many subgroups some of which overlap other MBTI personality types. That being said I will describe the characteristics of how a 'orthodox' INFJ thinks, behaves and responds in strict accordance with the MBTI Personalty Test. Be forewarned, I find some INFJ 'stereotypes' rather funny. And will approach such in a humorous fashion. INFJ's posess a wonderfully unique sense irony and will immediately recognize the silly 'stereotypes' others have attrubuted to them.....So lts break some myths about INFJ Personalty Types. When a INFJ gives you the dreaded 'Death Stair' they are not sttempting to understand you. They are wondering if you're carrying a gun. Killing INFJ's is a pleasurable experience. Why? Because everyone hates a smart ass. INFJ's frequently experience 'Sensory Overload' issues. They love Forests, Parks and Woodland areas to recharge their batteries. Why? Because trees don't talk! A squirrel cannot complain it has 'Daddy Issues'. Pine trees do not suffer from 'gender identity' problems. And I have never seen a bunny rabbit strung out Crack Cocaine. Solitude is bliss. Never say to a INFJ, 'I do not understad', They will run away screaming or jump infront of a bus. No one understands them. INFJ's sometimes don't even understand themselves. INFJ are almost like Chameleons. They attune themselves to better understand (subconsciously) certain situations. Why do a INFJ 'Door Slam' people? Because it's called a Coping Mechanism. They dislike being emotionally hurt. There is nothing strange about this. Some people become acholics others pill poppers. INFJ's will just run away and pretend you never existed. It never works. INFJ's have the psychic ability to absorb people's emotions. No. This is phenomen is called 'Transference'. If you continuously talk about your problems, a INFJ will unconsciously adopt some aspects of your emotional state. However, INFJ's posess strong identities which prevents them from going completely insane. INFJ's are the most honest, compassionate and sensative people on Earth. Not really. Mother Nature just screwed them up genetically. They're brains are hard wired to respond during crisis situations. A 'diehard' INFJ will instinctively sacrifice their life attempting to save yours. No questions asked. Why? I have no freaking idea. I didn't invent the rules. Ask God. I'm sure She knows. INFJ's think differently than others. Yes. They think outside the box. They live outside the box. They have never actually seen the box. What does it look like? Does it contain groceries? INFJ types are occasionally arrogant, cold towards others and aloof. This is actually true. Being omnipotent has its drawbacks. INFJ's have a difficult time sugar-coating the truth. Being overtly honest is their trademark. However, if they sense someone cannot handle the truth, they lie to protect that person's feelings. INFJ's are stubborn yet will openly admit to errors in judgment and making mistakes. INFJ's think too deeply. They want to solve everyone's problems. They get frustrated when people ask for advice, then completely ignore their recommendations. They do not understand why everyone keeps making the same mistakes over and over again. Eventually, a INFJ will simply give up. The phrase 'People need to learn the hard way' was invented by a INFJ. So was the 'unfriend' button on Facebook. INFJ's do not respect authority because they have developed their own Moral, Ethical, Spiritual and Cognative belief systems. Mature (older) INFJ's care very little about how people perceive them and less about the impressions they make upon others. INFJ's enjoy approval and acceptance (like everyone else) but infrequently compromise their princepals to simply fit in. Do not mistake a INJ's confidence as egocentrism. There is a difference. INFJ hate themselves. They feel alone within the world and misunderstood. Being a INFJ a curse. Consequently, a small minority INFJ's often experience psychological Depression, Alienation Issues and Avoident Behavior problems. The phrase 'You are your own worst enemy' accurately describes a INFJ's perception of themselves. The most admirable personality traits of the INFJ are (1) INFJ's care more about other people than themselves which makes them a easy targets for emotional exploitation and abuse. Never play 'Guilt Games' with a INFJ. They already persecute themselves (subconsciously) for being different. They don't have the ability to forgive themselves for past mistakes, A INFJ's unforgiving 'Guilt Complex' is an integral part of their personality. INFJ's have occasionally been known to slowly kill themselves over time, believing they deserve such suffering. 'Hell on Earth' is their punishment and they willing accept it....sometimes. Not always. (2) Once you secure the trust of a INFJ, everything about them suddenly becomes clear. The stereotypes vanish. They are people you want within your life. They have incredible insight into human nature and will identify your weaknesses and lift you up from darkness. Seeing the world through a INFJ eyes is the greatest gift they can offer. It would be impossible to understand a MBTI typology without stating the negative traits of a specific personality group. The 'Dark Side' of a INFJ is rather frightening. Never test their 'Authenticity' or personal dignity. Do not play games with a INFJ. They have limitations like everyone else. A INFJ can determine your intentions or plans within minutes. Literally. This Hyperobservient behavior is quite unique. Avoid getting into heated arguments with a INFJ unless you are prepared to be intellectually, emotionally or psychologically castrated. They have cognitive resources almost beyond understanding. A vindictive INFJ will never stop until they destroy your life (this has nothing to do with physical murder). Such behavior is almost Psychopathic in nature (hence the concern INFJ's may be catorgized as possessing a Psychological disorder rather than a Personality dysfunction). INFJ's are not prone violent behavior. The good news is they give up easily, This is where the Door Slam or simply walking away from a argument comes from. If a INFJ loves you, be prepared for lengthy romantic rituals. Box's of candy, flowers, poems, lovely e-cards, teddy bears and such. But be careful. A INFJ understands how to manipulate situations to their advantage. Including the human heart. Once they reveal their true inner nature however, you will begin to understand why only 2% of the world's population are INFJ's. They are just so dam charming. INFJ's dislike small talk, idle conversations, superficial people and hypocrites. Life is too short talking to such individuals (but they understand its occasionally necessary to be socially accepted) INFJ's are not spontaneous. They just pretend to be spontaneous. Their minds are always attempting to 'connect the dots' even when there are no dots. Avoid getting into deep conversations with a INFJ. They are walking encyclopedias. They will jump from topic to topic then back again to support a idea or theory. Male INFJ's are 'scattered brained' in the worst way possible. But there is method to such madness. The are searching for the correct answer to a specific problem. And 95% of the time they will discover it... or have a complete nervous breakdown trying. Occasionally, you will notice them acting rather mysterious, doing unusual things or just behaving weird. Get used to this behavior. It has absolutely nothing to do with you. The INFJ is just going through a 'stage' or experimenting with something that interests them. Like building a Thermonuclear Bomb or discovering a cure for Herpes. Never tell a INFJ they possess a 'Old Soul'. They are terrified of being reincarnated again. INFJ's are aware that neither Heaven or Hell wants them. Why? Because God doesn't want the extra competition or deciding who should run the Universe (Him or a INFJ) and Satan can't deal with a INFJ pestering him for all eternity. That would be considered cruel and unusual punishment. Aliens will never abduct a INFJ. There are some things too bizarre even for Extraterrestrials. So next time you accidentally encounter a INFJ, break all COVID 'Social Distancing' issues and hug them. INFJ's are a endangered species. Literally. Whatever purpose they were created for has already been accomplished. I like to think they represent the noblest form of humanity. A personality type which everyone aspires to immulate....Intelligent, Wise, Caring, Altruistic and Protective. 'More human than human', as the movie Blade Runner once committed. If anyone knows why INFJ's are slowly disappearing , its more important now (than ever) for this typology to connect with one another. Spread the word. You are NOT alone. You were iNEVER alone.

I would like to give my opinion on the fact that INFJ give their spouce a hard time. In my case that is true to some extend. I NEED to have a lot of spare time to SPACE out so to speak. Maybe this is a bit easier for 2 Gay guyz for they know they Love each other and while they always had to cope with a harsh environment they MUST rely on Each other in order to SURVIVE. But non the less it can be difficult in s hectic situation where there is NO TIME. This stresses me out, and Will make me sick after a while. The Ideal situation is a live appart together relationship. But this also had a downside....In the case that I would feel to much imprisoned, I would go too long in hibernation. Just to charge up. This would be too much to ask for my man. So I made concessions. But indeed this will drain my emotional energy completely from time to time.....see you Ren.

I think this shirking “categorization” is more common especially for INFP. They tend to really dislike “labels” whereas an INFJ has Ti as their 3rd function and so especially when developed an INFJ appreciates words for categorizations and labels.

Not that we are invisible, but in context to everything else, we choose to let them be extroverted which can make us invisible to those looking but not seeing our depth because we aren't projecting it into the world. My god that reads badly, but you understand and my migraine says I can't be bothered fixing it....

Yes, I agree with your interpretation of 'invisible'. From this perspective it makes sense. I hope the migraine passes soon!

Oh, yes, I agree one can have a strong sense of self and still be altruistic. No contradiction there. Ren, I have a favour to ask you. You said you're skeptical about astrology, but I happen to be exploring the correlation between the MBTI type and the INFJs natal charts. I have a theory I'm testing. Would you mind sharing with me your birthdate, birth time and birth city to pull out your chart?

when the article spoke about reading the writings of an INFJ "though you most likely will not be able to as they are very secretive . . ." it reeeeeeeallly spoke to me. for as long as i can remember i have kept journals - however, unlike most people who hold onto their journals, i throw them away immediately after having filled them so in the off chance that i am killed or something ( ya morbid i know ) no one will ever be able to find them and read them. I also throw away all assignments i have done etc, so that no one can ever find them and read them. . . . its weird i know, but ive done it my entire life.

I agree with you about the artist/literary thing. I don't necessarily think that's always true of INFJs (though we may appreciate art/literature, I don't think we necessarily create it). Also that relationship stuff didn't feel right at all. I wonder if the author of that article had a really bad relationship with an INFJ because the way they describe being with one kinda feels like they were hurt by someone who just so happened to be an INFJ and they're basing that description based off their own personal experience.

FINAL FANTASY Video Games????????????? A fellow FF player yaaaay. What was your first? Mine was FFVII, the best one ever, would just love the remake to be fully completed. I recently bought 7, 8 and 9 off steam and can play with much vigour as much as possible. The INFJ are highly intelligent?? Huh??? brain drain on that one, more like the INFJ are most likely humble. They play the guessing game to throw the other person off our scent, if we have exposed too much of ourselves then we are vulnerable to having our vulnerabilities used against us.
