Thanks for the video. Spot on. This case hits the perfect sweat spot for me. Due to a recent neck injury (partially due to carrying heavy camera gear on my back everywhere) and I'm not getting any younger!, I can no longer drag my camera/lens gear with me everywhere. I looked at the universal iPhone cage options but once I started down that path, the benefits of an iPhone quickly started to dwindle as the phone grows in size, weight, annoying setup, draws attention, etc.. • While this setup isn't the cheapest, the case can stay on as a permanent protective case that still fits into my pocket, so that saves me $$ on a 24/7 protective case. For me, this $$ savings in itself justifies the custom case that fits this model only. • It's ready in an instant ...literally! Pull out of the pocket, snap on filter + grip (if they're not already on in my pocket) and ready. • With the grip and button release feature snug against the phone and not jutting out to the side like on other rigs, it "feels" more like a camera in the hand. • The secure grip provides enough additional stabilization points to where you get used to not dragging a gimbal along. ;-) • Barebones "sweet spot" for a case+filter+grip system. It's minimalistic enough to give me what I really need (1/4" threads, cold shoe, multi position grip, filter mounting system) and nothing more. Throw in the pocket and go! And I will actually USE it.
I watch a lot of RU-vid. You are the best! I love your jazzy background music; the ease with which you explain things and how genuine you are with your suggestions. Thank you from the Island of Puerto Rico!
Whoa! Gorgeous video you shot, mate! My daughter has an iPhone 11, and I see that there is a LiteChaser Pro for it. She loves photography, and this will probably get her to keep using it for a while longer. Much cheaper than an iPhone 13 Pro or a new 14, for sure! And when she finally DOES get a new phone, I'll just take her 11 and the LiteChaser kit for myself. Win-win, yeah?
I am so excited for this! Just ordered the directors kit plus a gold anamorphic lens with the preorder discount for iPhone 13 Pro. I used to have a polarpro case and grip for my 11 Pro and I loved it, the quality was so reassuring and the grip was my favourite thing ever - but I’ve never tried out lenses before. Great video and I love your style and enthusiasm!
Great video mate. Got my kit a few weeks ago and have to agree, quality and everything is very good. Also arrived in 4 days. Only problem is they forgot to include the CP filter! They have sent out a replacement but it’s been 19 days and hasn’t arrived yet. Sent by USPS this time round and tracking isn’t as good as DHL. Also, just a heads up, the stabilisation on FiLMiC Pro does crop in the frame quite a bit. Would recommend turning it off if not needed. The cameras on the 12 Pro Max may also not need it turned on, but not 100% on that. The mist filters are great too btw 😎
Thanks, hopefully your CP filter will arrive soon. I’ve got the mist filter and Bluetooth shutter earmarked for my next order. I noticed the crop, but I think it’s a habit based on previous experience with onboard stabilisation. I’m definitely going to be testing the iPhone 12 Pro Max a little more to see how much this has improved over the previous models. I actually took the litechaser out a few days ago with the DJI OM4 and it works perfectly. 😁👊🏽
Brilliant video and very informative. Did you have to pay any extra tax on duty for this to the UK. Im trying to order this and says at order page that Tax and duty has still to be added. Thanks
Thanks, I didn’t pay any tax and duty when ordered mine. I’m not sure if I got lucky or if it’s actually under the threshold in terms of value. I hope this helps. 👊🏽
@@ShootSmartphone Ordered the filmmakers kit after watching your video on it on Friday there and received it today in Scotland and no duty paid as you said. What a piece of kit right enough. makes a huge difference. So thank you for the video which helped me decide to buy this.
Thank you for sharing your awesome review / tutorial!! I just purchased the iPhone 13 Pro Max. I do enjoy shooting in manual following the 180 degree rule. I'm familiar with PolarPro ND filters due to using them on my original Mavic Air drone. Those filters are not variable therefore, I have to swap them out accordingly. When doing so, I view the EV meter getting it as close to 0.0 as I can for a proper choice. I see that you're turning the filter slowly to flatten out the spikes evenly on the histogram for the proper ND step. I have a couple questions if I may; 1) Since it's a VND filter, is the shading uneven no matter where it's adjusted? Probably sounds like a stupid question but, I've never used one. 2) I've only used an EV meter and never have used a histogram for choosing the proper ND filter. Is there an EV meter in the Filmic Pro App? 3) Please correct me if I'm wrong; When using the histogram, the important thing is to observe the spikes making sure they are flat as can be with one another. This is balancing the highs-mids-lows in regards to exposure. Thank you again for sharing this, I would sincerely appreciate your time and input. 👍😊
Hey, I use the histogram for the convenience. I have mine on all the time so I can monitor the spikes to make sure I I don’t have big spikes on each side of while shooting. Filmic Pro does have another live analytics such as exposure zebra stripes that you can use to adjust for VND, but it requires an extra 2 taps on the screen which I don’t like.
Thanks, no I didn’t pay any import taxes. It was delivered by UPS express international. I’m not sure if I got lucky or if it was just under the threshold 👊🏽
Thanks again for this awesome review / tutorial! I just received my iPhone 13 Pro Max Filmmaking Kit and am trying out the VND. I noticed that it doesn't lock into the case. It slides into place ok, but is able to fall out of it's slots fairly easy with a simple little shake or two. Isn't it suppose to lock into the slots somewhat? I'm really concerned more so, due to using a gimbal. As always, thank you for all of your content! 👍
@@ShootSmartphone Thanks for your help. Instructions state; Align the tabs on the filter and press the tabs into the slots and rotate clockwise until the filter is seated. Impossible with the case I have, the slots are flush on the sides therefore, it can't be rotated. I'll contact PolarPro first thing Monday morning. Thanks again, appreciate your help. 👍
Hello Rapa, which country did you buy in please ? " I noticed that it doesn't lock into the case" and slides out is this human error or a real issues we have here please ?
@@freeflightbrighton Real issues..... the notch is straight. It's not like previous versions that you push in and twist and lock. I use PolarPro ND's on my Mavic Air drone and GoPro's but, this new design I.M.O. needs to take a step backwards to the previous one.
It’s very protected in my view. The lip comes up pretty high and wraps around the screen. It’s also had a good seal against the screen. I’m never worried about dirt getting in between. I hope that helps.
I have seen some strange artefacts with certain scenes using the ultra wide, mainly when they’re is less detail and low highlights. I when to use the standard wide lens when using this filter. 👊🏽
Want to get an nd filter before I go away in a week’s time, but can’t find one for iPhone 14 pro in UK. Any ideas? Will one for iPhone 13 pro work? Thanks!
Hey Sara, unfortunately, apart from the cheap clip on nd filters on Amazon, you won’t find any that are sold in the UK. You will most likely have to order from the US.😥 But, I can tell you that Sandmarc do amazing filters and they ship to the UK very quickly with no import charges. 👊🏽
Hey, so PolarPro sell a separate kit for the iPhone 12. This kit is specifically made for the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The filter and grip would be the same, but it would be a different case to fit the iPhone 12. 👊🏽
Hey, yeah you can get similar results with the iPhone 11. The iPhone 12 has better low light performance, especially on the ultra wide lens, but in good light the iPhone 11 with this ND filter will still give you awesome results 😁👊🏽
Hey, I am considering getting this product. My question is, if I use the moment lens and the step-up fit they (moment) sells. Can I then use the polar pro filters on top of the moment lens with the step up gear ?
No you can’t use this filter with the moment lens. The VND filter that comes with this kit has a bayonet fixing, so it won’t screw into a step up mount.
@@ShootSmartphone I couldn’t screw my moment anamorphic lens with the lite chaser pro case. Too tight so it doesn’t turn all the way. The 58mm worked fine.
This kit is specifically for the iPhone 12 Pro Max, but Polar Pro do still sell these kits for the iPhone 11: www.polarprofilters.com/products/litechaser-pro-iphone11-builder
@@ShootSmartphone thanks buddy, i am actually wanting the iphone 13 pro max kit when it arrives december 31st, its the same price and kit as this, so i was just curious if there was import fees, did you just pay the flat $149 for the kit? or did you have Sales tax on top, it doesnt show me as the kit is only pre order
Ah ok, I paid the price for the kit and the delivery charge in the website for shipping to the UK. I can’t remember the full cost of shipping. But, i didn’t pay any other charges here when it was delivered. Not sure if I was just lucky or if the cost didn’t meet the threshold for add to taxes.
I’m doing the same (in the UK) and at checkout it says import fees to UK is 20%. So if you do get stuck with the fees that’s about $34 (if ordering the directors kit with the preorder discounts). Not too painful really.
@@ShootSmartphone I just purchased kit for iPhone 11 after check out your video I am having big issue with light exposure on food video even with filmic pro . Look forward to your upcoming videos .
Thanks a lot for the great review! Just received my LiteChaser Pro set and started fiddling around with it. Left a like and a sub! Looking forward for more content! Thanks a lot! 😃
From watching/listening to your openness on this I purchased on line. Received a text same day telling me it was despatched ~ speed isn’t the word here, especially since it’s from California [CA]. Then received another messages reputedly from DHL LA now requesting “There is import duty/tax due on your shipment. The amount is GBP 39.98.” Did you receive this message; there is so so much fraudulent text/email around (I live in Scotland) Update on this information ~ After a phone call to DHL UK I “did” have to make a payment to DHL for import duty /tax of £39.98 ! My purchase was direct from Polarpro; Amazon can only supply for iPhone12 and not max version. Also the price would appear to support the duty/tax I have paid extra.
For me, I didn’t receive any messages and I didn’t pay any import tax. I’m not sure if I was just lucky or if it’s different for Scotland. You do need to be careful with fraud. I would call DHL directly to confirm.
@@ShootSmartphone cheers for your quick response; yep crooks in abundance these days. So many calls, texts and emails! Yep I’ll just wait a few days and keep an eye on the tracking.
Only 5 days from online order to my door; very quick indeed. Just had a short trial with video and very comfortable to use especially the Bluetooth device for start/stop. I’m not so sure about the variable ND filter though; 3-5? On my drone I regularly use a 16 or 32. So out and a short video; back to post processing and I think the ND filters might be just perfect
Sorry we are late to this party. The Polar Pro Bluetooth Remote does not work with the Filmic Pro App. Only the native camera app.` If someone has discovered a solution, we would be glad to hear it.
That’s interesting. I’ve heard that it doesn’t work when an external mic is plugged in, but if it doesn’t work at all, then that’s a problem. Although, I’ve pretty much switched to ProTake these days so hopefully it works with this app.
@@ShootSmartphone We have not tried with ProTake. No external mics connected to the iPhone at all. While using Filmic Pro and the BT remote, it appears as if it is trying to adjust the volume level every time we click it to activate the record button. Still, a great device to use with the LC handle so for the time being we will still have to use our finger! LOL.
@@ShootSmartphone We sure will. Just watching your "How to Master Handheld iPhone Cinematic Moves" video and we are still laughing at "when you're learning the Ninja walk, you're gonna look like you just sht your pants." Good stuff!! LOL.
Here is the link: www.easeus.com/tutorial/mobimover-user-guide.html It’s a great tool, but you need to pay for the premium version to transfer more than a few videos. It doesn’t cost much and we’ll worth it!
