Another vote for Vallejo Metal Colors. They are absolutely great for silverish ranges (also love their single copper...gold, eh).

@@PocketPigments I have not tried it, but I have heard some good things about it. The two things I do for golds and coppers are use the Scale75 line when I want more variation. Titanium White gets its nsme from Titanium Dioxide. This is the white pigment in paint and you need a lot of it for white coverage in paint. Useless tid bot of informative, it's also used in food coloring. I used to use it with white chocolate to turn the cream colour to white. Also Scale 75 Metal and Alchemy "White Alchemy" is a bright iridescent white like brilli white. Heres an experiment for you ... use brilli white or white Alchemy with black paint and see what silvers you can come up with. Also for great silver Vallejo Air Black Metallic, steel, aluminium and silver.

Regarding the whites, Vallejo Game Color white is actually pretty good. I never use it over black since I usually start from a grey primer but it has nice coverage and works really well, I have the Kimera white as well but I find myself using the Vallejo white more often since it works so well and is easier to dilute. I'd switch out Apothecary White for Soulblight Grey wash, though I guess it more depends on the tone of white you want rather than how good both products are. When it comes to metallics I tend to go for AK 3rd Gen, they work very well as your standard metal colors, maybe Scale 75 is technically better but AK gives a really nice metallic look for an affordable price. Natural Steel is my go to for metallics these days. But the Vallejo Metal Color line is better but less nice to work with, but the Chrome there is AMAZING for highlights. Some other recommendations of paints that aren't the hypest colors but I use almost all the time: Vallejo Model Color: Cavalry Brown, German Grey, German Camouflage Black Brown, Refractive Green, and Smoke (very niches but once you learn to use it it can give some cool effects for little effort.) AK 3rd Gen: Buff, German Field Grey, Olive Green. And last but not least Citadel: Corax White. I know, Corax White, but it is actually nice as a base for white, both for adding shadows, throwing on a wash, and for adding highlights.
@PocketPigments
@PocketPigments 4 месяца назад
Lots of awesome call outs there for sure! RE: Soulblight Grey vs Apothecary White, definitely a preference thing for sure. As Soulblight Grey is a wash/shade it rests in the recesses more, tinting the surface less than Apothecary White. Though I do find the tinting from Apothecary White can help the transition of the shading a bit which can be quite helpful. It also allows you to add further highlights afterwards since the surface is no longer 100% white. But they give very similar results and it's more of a "what kind of result do I want" thing for sure, as you said :) Thanks for watching - much appreciated!

ca. 2:53 : "Titanium White" is a pigment based on Titaniumdioxide. And that is nothing special, because it's used pretty much out there. It might be one of the best White-Pigment when it comes down to opacity, but even this has to be used whith a grain of salt. It is more likely, that the pigment-ration inside of your bold-titanium is a little bit higher than normally used. Oh, and since you mentioned Kimera: They are one of a few Producers of paints, that informs you about the pigments they use: On the Bottle of "The White" it is written, that the pigment used is "PW 6" and guess what this pigment is?
@PocketPigments
@PocketPigments 4 месяца назад
Pigment density is definitely very high in Titanium White that's for sure, can be thinned down quite a lot. Did some digging and it does look like a lot of whites contain titaniumdioxide which is cool - maybe there's more of it in this paint? Trying to find information online but has been tricky. Seems that a lot of the most highly regarded whites out there appear to be identified as "titanium white" which makes me think it has something to do with the titaniumdioxide density/usage in some way, but not certain. More research needed there for sure :)

Different bottles with the same name on them would be different consistencies and even different shades. Was a fair while back though Got TTCombat at moment. Very thick or very runny. Don't like to be thinned. Need lots of shaking. Going to try bearing in bottles. See if that will help. Not getting on with them. Vallejo, loved them. Just could not fined the right colours I needed often. Stock issues normally. Liked and subbed.

ca. 8:54 : Nope: Thats the problem with all fluorescent paints: They are more of a dye, than a pigment, what makes them what they are. If you want to give them coverage, you will have to layer them up, until there are enough Layers, which give the paint the chance to prove some coverage. (As you might have registered with the rest of the Fluorescent Paints: They come as translucent out of the bottle as the contrasty paints.)
@PocketPigments
@PocketPigments 4 месяца назад
Not sure what you mean? The timestamp referenced points to the Brilli White segment? But yes I know translucency is an inherent property of fluors. AFAIK most fluor paints in our hobby actually use pigments. The main difference between pigments and dyes being that pigments are non-soluble while dyes are soluble. I know for sure Scale75's paints use pigments, based on what I have found online. If you know of any dye-based fluors though I'd definitely be interested in giving them a shot! :)
@OrakelofDeath
@OrakelofDeath 4 месяца назад
@@PocketPigments Jep: Your Brilly-White is part of Scales Fluo-Paint-Set. Your where thinking about couverage whith the Airbrush. All I gave you was a little bit of context to the Pigmentation of Fluo-Qualitys. (I'm not that much into the chemistry of paints, but could learn a lot through following Ten01-Labs before their Kickstarter went life. The Pigments itself with Fluo-Paints have Qualities, which are chemically nearer to a dye, than to classical Pigments. This has on the downside, that they are very translucent. But it gives them this interesting effect under Blacklite.)
@PocketPigments
@PocketPigments 4 месяца назад
@@OrakelofDeath ahhh gotcha :) I find Brilli White really interesting, I haven't seen any metallic fluos like that before. Do you know of any others? The airbrush comment was moreso RE: if good coverage could be built up more easily since the airbrush would allow for some thinner and more even layers. I've found it tricky to build up a lot of layers with fluo by brush as they're quite thick (at least the ones I've used) and it can be hard to tell sometimes what you've covered due to that high transparency. I wonder what kinds of fluo-tricks are out there - they're definitely very unique and I imagine some cool stuff can be done with them that I haven't thought of :) The blacklight-play is always fun and cool to show people - but mostly it's always "Finish the mini, shine a blacklight on it, say 'oh wow cool' and then never use a blacklight on it again" lol.
@OrakelofDeath
@OrakelofDeath 4 месяца назад
@@PocketPigments I can only speculate, but I think that Brilly White is more ment to be as a medium, so that you can mix it up with any other colour you like and try to see, if you can get a little bit of the Fluo-Efect. (I used the Fluo-Colours of the old Game Range and bought the Scale Set afterwards, because it was recommendet. And since I use this Paints only as Object-Source-Lightning most of the time, I haven't got any use to look around for other Paints of that Category.)

I very much dislike most of the acrylic metallics, only the Vallejo metal color series gives me a smooth finish with a brush. I tried Sand Golem speed paint over it one day, and it changed the way I do metallics. Everything is a contrast - style paint overtop of Steel and Silver now.

@@PocketPigments the green and the pink are just insane in their coverage and flow. I enjoy their whole line but will admit there are a couple of the 5 or 6 that are s bit lackluster but no one is perfect. Just got the new Monument Hobbies fluorescents and they are supposedly pretty damn good too.

@PocketPigments haven't tried kimera so I couldn't say but it's a least on par with the pro-acryl. Maybe a little thicker out of the bottle. I'm just not a fan of the twist top bottles pro-acryl uses so my main workhorse paints are vallejo and ak interactive.

I would recommend Cuttlefish Colors metallics, nice coverage if a bit thinner than the scale 75 paints. Their overall paint line is fantastic in my opinion.

I’ve actually really been wanting to try them, Creature Caster is based out of Canada (where I am) which is pretty cool! Any particular colors you like more than others?

Canadian here too.. Maple Airbrush supply in Edmonton has the line. As far as particular colors go there is nothing that I couldnt live without but I use a wide variety of them regularly. Metallics, Level 99 platinum and Bullet Betty are common choices here. Bullet Betty and Scale 75 Black metal are quite similar. I basically do a speed paint style then use the Cuttlefish colors to enhance highlights and shadows to get really high quality table top looks. They are great for that style of painting. (refer to Don Suratos' channel for more detail, I kind of stole / copied from him.)

Awesome I'm going to pick up a couple and see how they do. Maybe eventually I'll do a review on the Cuttlefish line, only makes sense to highlight some Canadian brands that may be under-exposed :) If you haven't seen it yet I did a video on Sword & Brush a few months back (Canada's biggest minipainting convention) - had a blast, wish there were more events in Canada. I'm also currently organizing a large yearly painting competition for April 20th called Maple Palette that will take place in London, Ontario if you're anywhere near there! www.maplepalette.com

Looks like I have no choice, a few people have recommended them now :) Have you tried their liquid metals at all? If so how would you say they compare to the metal color line? Vallejo is a less popular brand where I’m at it seems, not many shops stock it, but I know of a couple I could order online from and give their metallics a go!
@MoxAmber26
@MoxAmber26 4 месяца назад
@@PocketPigments i havent tried the liquid metal colors, but have heard they are quite good. The one downside is that the Liquid Metal ones arent acrylic paint, but alcohol based, so cleaning is a little different. The names are also a little confusing, but thankfully the bottles are quite different. I mostly get my vallejo at a local model train store, so if you have a non-game hobby shop in the area, that may be a place to get vallejo stuff

Cool I'll have to hunt some down then! I've heard really good things about AK's "True Metal" line as well. Apparently they are "wax-based" and cleaned up with white spirits and such as well. However once they've dried you can polish them like real metal, which sounds pretty intriguing. So many cool products out there, and only so many dollars :P

I haven’t used that metallic medium actually, can it be used straight out of the bottle? I would definitely be curious to see how it compares to Brilli White. I actually wonder if Brilli White contains fluor or not, it has a quality about it that feels very bright but not 100% white of course.

Watched the video all the way through and I hope this comes off as constructive criticism and not being a jerk. I think your audio is fine, your video is fine and your information is good. You need to work on your delivery and that just comes with practice. There is a lot of times where you will stop on a word in the middle of a sentence. Its like the opposite of the problem a lot of new video makers have where they run a mile a minute and dont stop to take a breath. But there are. Times. When. It feels. Like you are pausing in the middle of a sentence to try and keep up with your thoughts. A lot of people struggle with "umms" or "so" or "anyway" at the start or end of their sentences which can be edited out easily enough, but practice getting through the full sentences a bit more smoothly and evenly. I think that one nit picky thing will help the overall flownol of the dialogue and give you bigger pieces to work with in editing
@PocketPigments

Hey there - I appreciate the feedback for sure, no offense taken! The cadence of my speech is something I’ve actually worked on a lot (check out some of my earlier stuff). I went back through this video just now and I honestly think what you’re hearing is just how I naturally talk. I write scripts for my videos, read over them multiple times, etc. But due to who I am as a person I just cannot memorize a script word for word - my brain doesn’t work that way. So I do practice runs after reading everything and then I do my shots and just let it flow the way I would normally have a conversation with someone. Of course I reshoot things sometimes to try and get a better flow, and I do edit around things here/there to clean it up. But maybe I just naturally sound slow and dumb or something…that’s just me I guess! I’ll definitely try to improve it some more, I’ve made a lot of progress already I think. But I also do believe a lot of what you may be referring to is just how I talk. Legitimately though I do super appreciate the feedback - most of what I get is positive or neutral and I’ve been trying to figure out what areas I can improve in, so I’ll definitely try to pay more attention to my general speech patterns.

@@PocketPigmentsjust remember we love Christopher Walken because of the he talks lol. I dont find your speech off putting. It's deliberate and exact which is exaclty what I want in this type of video. As far as memorization just do what actors do and concentrate just on the lines you're recording atm. They don't memorize 100s of script pages. Also instead of memorization. Reread over your script till you know it well enough to then put it into your own words (again lol. Funny considering the script was your words to begin with). Anyway I'm subbing because you gave scale 75 high marks. 😂. Idk I just don't find others who dig it. I'm very close to having the range and I just don't see what people don't like about it.

@PocketPigments 4 месяца назад
@@jc7997aj thank you for saying that haha. I’ll continue to work on it for sure but yeah half of it is probably just how I talk. And 100% agreed Scale75 is rockin! I think it sometimes gets a bad rap because it’s just so different, so it needs time to adjust to. But once given some time, it’s an incredible paint range!

Welcome to the internet! Video titles change, often multiple times - a very high number of RU-vidrs do it and it’s not exclusive to RU-vid, or even exclusive to titles. The algorithm is fickle, it’s the way things are. Sorry to ruin your day, I’ll do my best not to step on your toes in the future.
