The year is just a little over halfway through. And so we thought the timing might be appropriate to re-cap on the best products of 2022. Now, the truth is that we don’t reach the conclusions we come to based on rigorous, objective, analytical, head-to-head comparisons. And, of course, it has to be acknowledged that we don’t offer all the products out there. So we can’t possibly claim that our selections truly represent the very best on the market.
But here’s the thing. We are not like other sellers of motorcycle wear. Many retailers end up doing deals with distributors, who then oblige them to take on whole ranges from the brands they distribute. Clearly, these retailers still have some control over what they sell, but then so do their suppliers.
At Motolegends, we take a slightly more independent approach. We know all the brands out there, and to a man pretty much all of them would be keen to work with us. But we are very selective about the products we take on. I suppose there are brands that we would feel are not us, but our approach is based far more on the product than the brand.
We seek out extraordinary products. And when we find products we like, we offer them to our customers. It’s why we stock far fewer brands than many retailers. And why we sometimes list only one or two products from a brand. The brand owners don’t really like this, but if they only have a few products that we like, that’s the way it has to be.
We spend our lives talking with distributors and brand owners. They all come and visit us to talk about the products that they think might be of interest to us. Sometimes we bite; sometimes we don’t. But the bottom line is that there isn’t much out there we don’t know about. Of course, we sometimes get it wrong; and it might occasionally be that we pass on a product that we should not have taken on. But we reckon we get it right a lot of the time.
And that’s why we might suggest that, even though in this review we talk only about our favourites from the products we sell, a number of these items will, in reality, be the best a man can get! Or a woman for that matter!
