That brought back memories! When I was in the Air Force we went on deployment to Sicily at Siganella NAS. In the summer we would rent a large paddle boat at the beach in Taormina. It would fit four men. We would carry duffle bags of beer and ice and a portable stereo and paddle out into that cove. The rocks on the left have a cave that faces the ocean you can't see from shore. We would go into that cave to get out of the sun and play that rock music loud in the cave. The Italian's loved it. Good memories. Thanks for sharing.
You captured some very beautiful views of Taormina. D&G, Prada, and Gucci would cost the same if not more anywhere else as this is part of Italy so don't be surprised, it is not Made in China...and the Empanada is not Italian, it is Hispanic, probably Mexican, so it should not be confused with Italian food such as "un cornetto." Also, It is not Tarmina, it is Taormina where the O is pronounced because, in Italian, we pronounce all the vowels. I need to bring this to your attention as this is not South America but the extension as a part of Italy with a very rich history. It looks like you had fun and I hope you will travel to Taormina again. Late April and early November are great times to visit if you want to avoid the crowds. Thank you for sharing your vacation here.
Hi there...We are headed to Taormina from Messina via train. Though our time is limited as we need to be back to the port by 4:30ish, how much time is required in order to walk the streets and see the ancient amphitheater? Thanks for a very informative video!
Allow yourself one hour to get from the train station from Taormina. 30 min each way. Taxi is the quickest. If you have more time you can take the bus. You can explore Taormina amphitheater in 2 hours. Have fun!
Thank you for your video. Can you tell me did you walk everywhere (wheew that exhausts me) or did you get a cab / uber ? I am planning a trip there and would like to know more about getting around. THANK YOU !
We walked everywhere around the city. We used a taxi to get from the train station to the city on the hill. Took the bus from the top of the hill upon departing.
Peek season is when school is out and everyone is traveling. May or Sept. might be a perfect time to visit. Loved the view of Mt. Etna from there. Thanks for the compliment!
Two days definitely isn't long enough to spend in this amazing place. One certainly can dive deeper into its history and architecture which deserves an entire video! I loved it there and will return and feature more.
