When Critic was talking about how mean the ending to the Frank Grimes episode, Grimes basically loses his mind and tries to act like Homer..............and acting like Homer without BEING Homer ends up violently killing him. Homer acts the fool at Grimes' funeral and everybody laughs gleefully at him, completely ignoring Grimes' being buried. Yeah pretty mean but admittedly funny in a messed up way.

Yep. Leonard Nimoy was in Star Trek. He was also Xehanort from Kingdom Hearts, funnily enough his best friend Eraqus was played by Mark Hamill who played Luke Skywalker in Star Wars. However Leonard passed away right before the finale of the then 19 year long Dark Seeker storyline. The new va wasn’t bad but it was easy to tell it wasn’t Leonard.

The part at the end talking about the critic playing a Simpsons game is referring to Bart's Nightmare. The critic made a video of him playing and reviewing the game, and it is considered one of the worst NC videos ever.

The release of the Halloween episodes (Treehouse of Horror) is weird. They're generally aired around Halloween, though only one of them ever actually premiered ON Halloween. There was a phase when they aired 2-3 weeks before Halloween and in the 2000s, they actually aired in early November due to being pre-empted by the World Series.

Whelp, since you followed-up the Simpsons movies review with this, may I suggest you then follow-up the Cool World review with it's sequel review, the animated Lord of the Rings film. You can dread it, run from it, destiny arrives all the same.

The episode Homers Enemy ends with Grimes unintentionally killing himself due to negligence after breaking and engaging in Homer's lifestyle. The funeral even has the people present cracking jokes and laughing at his expense post mortem. Its brutal.

The elephant at the end is the Elephant In The Room, who is pointing out about the Let's Play of Bart's Nightmare that was at the time widely considered the worst NC video ever. It was so bad that it was on the third list of his Top 11 F*ck Ups at number 3 - the only reason it wasn't higher is because there was nothing factually wrong, it was just a terrible video. That said, Number 2 was about a mistake he made about who in Twilight wanted to get married. He said he got confused because if Bella wanted to be a vampire, surely she would also want to get married? But he failed to take into account that Edward would be the one to want to because...well, it was a much more important thing in his era.

Ngl, after being enlightened just that little bit further from watching EmpLemon's analysis on Homer's Enemy, having it ranked 9th feels criminal to me.

If he does watch the Simpsons, I do suggest watching from the first 10-ish seasons, but in terms of who says when it gets bad, that’s all to your own opinion, since I got bored from Season 14 and onwards. Season 7 especially was one of the bests, it had a lot of iconic and emotional moments within that season, and featured many episodes where some characters became a main focus in those episodes such as “Troy Mclure” and “Grandpa Abe Simpson”. I will not spoil these though for obvious reasons.

Bart Gets an F is still my favorite episode of the Simpsons. Not necessarily the funniest, but it has the most heart and I really identify with Bart finally deciding to put work into studying, but constantly getting distracted up until the last minute and that even when you try your best, you wont always succeed. Very good episode and one I teared up on the first time I watched it.

Wait! You've seriously never heard of Cape Fear?! The movie that the Simpsons episode of the same name parodied?! IT'S A CLASSIC!!! It was made in 1962 and then remade in 1991. It's about a serial rapist named Maxx Cady who's seeking revenge on his former attorney, Sam Bowden, for knowingly withholding evidence that would have got him off the hook, thus purposefully letting him be sent to prison.

Sideshow Bob used to be a sidekick to Krusty the clown but he didn't like how he was treated, he tried to frame Krusty robbing the KwikEMart but thanks to Bart he got caught. So for over 20 years Sideshow Bob has been trying to get revenge on a 10 year old boy.

"There was a World War III?" It's a future episode. They have a ton of goofy predictions that either come true thanks to satirical lucky guesses or were too exaggerated to be. Luckily, there hasn't been a World War III yet.

i'm someone who doesn't hate that the simpsons is still going, but much like south park i feel the show should have aged, like in the what if future eps they can give the characters more mature jokes to tell that fit their characters. There is so much they could do with them in high school. South park went from one grade to the next and didn't evolve passed that, they just put them in more high school and college situations without them being in those grades. Personally I think on whatever new simpsons season they do they have all the characters older a full season of them in high school or something, tell new jokes get creative with it, test the waters and depending on the feedback from the fans either have the whole season be a term paper lisa wrote on what she'd think high school would be like and they can go back to them being kids and doing the same stuff over and over, or just carry on as teens

- For the record we're are now up to 34 seasons of the show - If the video has an animated thumbnail it's normally an older review and won't have a charity shout out - Family Guy was pretty much inspired by The Simpsons. They've joked about Peter being "2nd best Homer". They even have an actual crossover where they point out all the similarities - "The greater good" is from Hot Fuzz - Cape Fear is a movie that came out in the 60's then had a remake in 90's - Halloween episodes are the same length but split into 3 separate stories. They are also way darker and gorier. With stuff like on screen murder. One of the head writers as stated he believes the episodes should actually be scary. They normally ends up airing too late or too early for the holiday so they do make jokes about that - The elephant was a short running joke. Literally "an elephant in the room". Would show up to address something controversial involving a movie or actor. This case it's referring to the time he did a "let's play" of the Simpsons game Bart's Nightmare. The video was completely panned by fans though I've never seen a problem with it

Fun Fact: The Reason Vampires cant be seen in Mirrors is Mirrors used to be Glass coated in a thin layer of silver. Since Silver is a 'holy' metal, Vampires cant be reflected by them. So technically, since most mirrors today do not contain silver, Vampires could be walking among us...

I was 5vwhen the Simpsons first aired. So I grew up with a lot of these episodes. Seasons 1-8 were the golden age of the simpsons. Definitely had more heart and soul in those episodes... Also, I'd like to point out a funny little historical note. Not only was Leonard Nimoy in Star Trek as Spock, but he also voiced Galvatron in the original animated movie of Transformers. Galvatron being the reimagination of Megatron, who was originally boived by Frank Welker. Interestingly enough, Frank Welker would also voice the disembodied voice of Spock in the third star trek movie, subtitled 'The Search For Spock' Frank would then go on to take over voicing Galvatron for the remainder of the run of the original series while Leonard Nimoy would go back to portraying Spock in the next 4 films, including Star Trek Generations, the corssover movie between the original star trek series and star trek the next generation.

Don’t know where it’s from: Hot Fuzz if I’m not mistaken. I haven’t seen it in years so bare with me on that one. Sideshow Bob (voiced by Kelsey Grammer) was a bad guy because he framed Krusty for armed robbery and tried to kill Bart on several occasions but turns over a new leaf against his brother Cecil (voiced by David Hyde Pierce) and his attempt to blow up the Springfield dam in the season eight episode Brother From Another Series which is a reference to the fact that they costarred in the show Frasier. My favorite of the 11 is Marge Vs The Monorail from season 4 mainly because of Phil Hartman and his performance as Lyle Lanley and the guest star Leonard Nimoy aka Spock from Star Trek. Live long and prosper Mr. Nimoy! 😢❤️🖖🏻

If you said "Leonard Nimoy, the guy from Star Wars", I wouldn't be mad... or surprised, for that matter.

When he said people were going to hate his number 1 pick, I thought he was going to pick the episode where Principal Skinner is revealed to not be what he seems. It's generally considered to be the episode that marked the beginning of the end for the show's reputation. And while I do agree with that sentiment, the sad fact is that taken on its own that episode is actually really good with some really great laugh-out-loud moments. It's just that it demonstrated that the writers no longer cared about the characters as they once did and would throw them under the bus for a cheap laugh, which is a trend that only became more prevalent later.

I actually only recently started watching all the Simpsons some years back when FXX started rerunning the series none stop since, before then, i wasn't allowed to watch adult shows to a degree. But i do remember this NC video and number 1 a lot cause: i was like Bart. I had trouble in school cause of my Aspergers: trouble staying awake, concentrating, doing the work given. I even had to repeat the 9th grade and it was rough. I literally spent nights at the dinning room table working on homework with no help and even ended up crying to sleep. And they wondered why i slept in class. So seeing Bart slap himself to focus, get distracted and even cry when he didn't get the grades he wanted: i know that feeling.😢

"Marge on the Lam" is 1 of my favorite episodes. Mainly because it has Lionel Hutz (my favorite character) babysitting the kids in it. My God, I miss Phil Hartman!

I always felt Simpson was better then family guy. Family guy was really funny now it's just as painful to watch as modern Simpsons.

So the quote “the greater good” is from an amazing film with Nick frost and Simon pegg called hot fuzz and is part of a trilogy of comedy films referred to as the cornetto trilogy I can highly recommend watching them all if you get the chance they are hilarious films

Sideshow bob was once rusty the klowns sidekick but he was tired of the harsh treatment one being shot out of a canon so he framed krusty for robbery and Bart found out it was him and got him arrested ever since then bob has had many attempts for revenge against Bart Simpson

I always remembered the tomacco episode. Di dont remember much about the actual episode, i just remember enjoying it. I was an 80s baby/90s kid. Started watching Simpsons regularly in middle school when i had my own room. Though, theres plenty of seasosns from the last multiple yrs i havnt seen.

The Halloween episodes usually come out the first sunday after halloween. However past couple years theyve been the sunday before halloween

The fact that Doug is exasperated over how much The Simpsons has outstayed it’s welcome after so many years on the air in an NC episode which is itself over a decade old will never cease to blow my mind.

10:37 Basically, when the Simpsons go into witness protection, the car they're given has a bunch of Gilbert & Sullivan cassettes that the family listen to during the car ride - Gilbert & Sullivan being these two English dudes who wrote a bunch of satirical comic operas back in the day, almost like _The Simpsons_ or _South Park_ of their time. So when Sideshow Bob has Bart cornered on the houseboat as it's slowly drifting away, and is ready to come in for the k!££, Bart tricks Bob into singing all the songs from _HMS Pinafore,_ one of the aforementioned comic operas, to buy Bart enough time for the boat to drift back to Springfield and have Bob get arrested. And one of the songs is called "For He Is An Englishman", hence the Union Jack flag.

An interesting top ten list Doug made that's very similar to this was his Top 11 Best South Park Episodes. Especially you've never seen South Park, because if you haven't, your reaction to the humor and things they do in the episodes will be fantastic.

After the 100th NC video, it'd be fitting if you reacted to the first two NC reviews he ever did, which are "Transformers (2007)" and "Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue".

I remember the first time he had that elephant appear, I didn't get the joke either, but then someone told me he's supposed to be an elephant in the room that needs to be addressed, which in hindsight really should have been obvious.

It's always amusing how the "Itchy and Scratchy and Marge" episode presents it as if kids can only enjoy watching TV *or* playing outside. Like... people are more complex than that.

14:32 Funnily enough, the mayor of Springfield actually makes that mistake in the episode, saying "may the Force be wit you" to Nimoy. And he also thought Nimoy was on _The Little Rascals,_ an old series of films about a bunch of orphans getting into wacky hijinks.

Honestly I'd say this might be out dated because some of the new season episodes are well let's say remember how miss crabapple "Left" there's an entire episode dedicated to her and how the characters deal with it basically what they did for homers mum they did here

Sideshow Bob: TV Clown Sidekick Turned Genius Psychopath Thanks To Bart Sending Him To Prison For Framing His Boss In A Heist. After That His One Soul Mission In Life Is To Kill Bart Simpson. He is the BEST and funniest recurring villain in the show. Everyone loves Bob so much, they made him the main villain in The Simpsons ride at Universal Studios.

Bart is still in the 4th grade, not because he's failing but because it's the type of show where the show basically stays the same over the decades more or less. Time never progress.

Man i was a eff up like bart... The only thing i aced was pe and cooking. And i love gardening. My mom even said to my school : you teach kids to be mathematicians. Not everyone is smart like that.

I feel like Doug severely undersold how much of classic Simpsons went for the heart. It wasn't just Bart Gets An F that tried. Lisa struggled severely with her social issues and more existential separations from her peers. Homer struggled every other episode with regretting the way he's treated his kids, genuinely showing he loves them more than life itself. Marge struggled with the marriage, we could get episodes about Flanders struggling or Moe struggling, the show got real. It got really real, really fast, really often.

Cape Feare is my personal favorite episode of the show. The funniest episode of television I've ever seen.
