Right angle cables don't always work, oftentimes they get in the way of jacks on modules. I bought a bunch but haven't been a big fan myself. re Patching: After much prior trial and error, I try to layout cable routing so that they provide as much access as possible and then run subsequent cables alongside the same routing, wrapping the cables around that cable path to build up a rope. It sucks when you have to pull cables from the wrapped rope so I make sure the patch is solid and functioning 1st. Sometimes I will patch up modules 1st and then remove and repatch them w/ the same connections to obtain better cable routing clearance.

Hear hear! I couldn't agree more! I went through the exact same process as you, regarding buying thicker cables for their looks, but ended up super frustrated with my bowl of spaghetti. I happened to buy some Tendrils due to the 90deg angle connector. After ordering just one bag and noticing their superior handiness, being so tiny and flexible etc, I sold all of my other cables and ordered a whole lotta Tendrils. My quality of life increased ca 100% after switching to using only Tendrils (and ofc Stackcables).

Nice demo/promo for Tendrils cables! 👌😎 I've been using them since they were first introduced, (as well as the inovative right angled cables from the now out of business Erthenvar that were around before Tendrils) and one or two others that have come out after Tendrils. Tendrils are my favorites! 🥰👍 The only downside of right angle cables in general IMHO is that in densly patched areas they aren't so easy to pull out because there isn't a way to get your fingers around them and pulling on the cable further up doesn't work well at all like it does with a straight cable (I've used tweazers before to pull right angled cables out, no joke! 😁). For a performance patch I've long recommended right angled cables for patch points that are going to be left alone and straight cables for patch points that might need to be changed during the performance. I also prefer to use straight patch cables when building an new patch/exploring/wiggling because they are more efficient to stick in/pull out rapidly and then if I need things to be more compact to take to a gig or whatever I'll repatch as much as possible with right angle cables.

Thanks for the review! I had to get some for my 2hp Lunchbox and not only do they give me valuable space to tweak those tiny knobs, I was actually able to create a patch and then completely close the lid for transport! Sweet cables!

Awesome! That’s a great point, thanks for pointing that out. That’s another reason Tendrils are dope.

Nota bene: this is true for any right-angle cables in general, not just Tendrils, they're not the only right-angles on the market. That being said, I actually had a chat with the guy behind Tendrils, he seems to have a really good and reliable manufacturer, so if in doubt... sure, go for Tendrils, why not... 🙂

All of the other right angled brands on the market have a much thicker cable diameter, so Tendrils are different in that regard. It makes a huge difference in dense patches

@@Dan_Pearson Maybe most, but not all, and the market seems to be changing quite a bit... I have some "no-name" that have cables almost exactly 3mm thick, but they have different barrel size/shape than Tendrils. I don't have any Tendrils per se, so can't compare, but mine are so far perfect even on some denser panels like Befaco STMix... Anyway, here's a whole thread on the subject - www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3457909

and you never thought of cable ties before tendrils? ;) My approach is to simply patch it in a clean way, tie it nicely and access to all modules is given.

This video has serious potential to do unnecessary damage to my bank balance..... those very neat and organised patches we’re very appealing.

Tendrils only work for certain cases, angles, and configurations. I can't use them on any Noise Engineering modules because I cannot remove them without using pliers. The angled head makes pulling the cable out in a straight line impossible. As soon as a few are placed together, there is no way you can get a human finger between them to remove them. For a certain type of setup, these can be a good thing. I can see how if you set up your patch for going on the road and were leaving them in place for an extended period, weeks, or months, they would also be totally good. These can absolutely be right for some. I made the mistake of buying 2 packs and I hope they die. And not a good death. I am talking about boiled alive, cancer, or AIDS.
