I could do that potentially! Would have to do some research on if it would preform well on my channel. Maybe I could include it in a part 2 review about the mark 7 and include more footage, samples, settings, etc.
The pop up EV is super fun to use. That fact that it turns on the camera when deployed and turns off the camera when stashed makes it fun AND functional.
Bought one for $800 used after seeing this video. I’m liking it a lot so far. The compactness is just so freaking nice even tho I’m a a6500, Samyang 24mm f2.8 pancake EDC person it’s enough of size difference to justify it
yeah, the camera is great, for sure the best compact on the market, wish they would make the lens f1.8 again and add 10 bit for the 4k 30p video for the next model, that would just make it perfect for me
@@incursore9canon g had it I opted for that over the original because of that and price, and it had a faster lens along the zoom topping at 2.8 I believe. Sony is gatekeeping like apple no way id pay 1200 for this and shame on them if they can produce 120fps across multiple lenses on a phone these prosumer cameras are a ripoff.
I’m starting to get into photography and I may be getting this kind of camera for Christmas. So I’ve been looking at photography and watching tales of the light on Netflix (which is about photography) Thanks for this little insight of this camera.
I love my Sony rx100 ( original) so much that I keep it and bought Sony rx100va, Sony Zv-1. Even the oldest model still produces fantastic pictures. I let go of my Nikon D750 and all Nikon lens .
Yeah I had an old canon g that I got open box and it was great and comparative to the time it kept the lens fast through the zoom range. This sounds like a downgrade unless they're pushing iso if ya can't get good bokeh what's the point of a fixed lens.
This is the best secondary camera in existence. When I travel I take my Full Frame with a fast prime lens (usually my 35mm f/1.4) and the RX100 vii. There is almost no situation where I can't get a good photo. Some of my best photos I've ever taken were from the RX100 vii. You also forget to mention the built in flash which can be nice to have.
@@Oleg_K. I don't protect it from dust lol. Unfortunately a little dust just gets in there. It's inevitable with normal use. Same goes with all externally zooming lenses. But a little dust won't even be noticable. If for some reason I got a ton of dust in there, I'd send it off for cleaning.
@@duvalpenny100 The only thing preventing me from getting this camera is the fear of having the lens suck up dust rendering the camera unusable. I'd want to have every day and take it absolutely everywhere with me. As an owner of one, do you have any thoughts that could help me decide?
@@Oleg_K. I carry mine everyday. It's always on me. I always carry a peak design 3L sling that houses both my A7C and RX100 comfortably. Currently the rx100 has a miniscule amount of dust in it. It has also been to 3 different countries with constant use so it seems to be pretty well protected from dust considering how little dust is in there for how much I use it. (I guess me carrying it in a camera bag as opposed to my pocket is a form of dust protection) I will say. I wouldn't want to carry it daily in my pocket with no protection at all though. Pocket lint gets everywhere eventually. I've definitely carried it in my pocket on occasion and I'm not afraid to do it, but I wouldn't recommend doing it all the time. At the end of the day, it's a tool and it should be used as such. I will definitely get my money's worth by the time I'd need to get it cleaned for dust. If I lost this camera today, I'd buy another one tomorrow.
That camera has a lot of features I don't need. And the popup viewfinder is a bad idea. Get the Panasonic tz200/zs200, as it's about half the price, has superior zoom, which is why you'd want one of these instead of a phone in there first place
24-200mm full frame equivalent. When cameras get small enough, all of the focal lengths become full frame equivalents instead of their actual focal lengths. I think anything below micro 4/3rds the terminology changes.
For that money you can get one of the latest smart phones with great canara systems that give great results. I have this camera but I'd rather use my S22 ultra. If I need something more then I'll use my full frame camera.
honestly the main reason I like this camera is the 200mm equiv optical zoom. I use it as a companion to my phone or to a mirrorless system (since I normally shoot primes) The reason why this camera never got a sequel (and therefore still has a microUSB port grr) is definitely because for most people, phones are enough.
Under $100 is tough. I’d check out the Viltrox 20mm f/2.8 Lens which is a full frame lens for $158 and will act like a 30mm on a crop sensor. I have a full review of this lens on my channel!!
Actually, the Mk V of this model is a better "photographer's point & shoot". It has a 24 to 100mm equivalent lens, but it's a f1.8 to f2.8. So, it let's in lot more light, which is more important than zoom range. And the Canon G7X mk 3 has very similar specs, and it's $400 to $500 less, if you're willing to trade the pop-up viewfinder for a pop-up flash. It even has the same tilting screen, and the Canon app for sharing media is way ahead from Sony's.
RX100V only has a 24-70mm equiv. Being able to go up to equiv 200mm is very nice to have, and why I went for a VII over the V. In my use, I honestly find that the slower lens isn't that much of an issue. IS and ISO do well enough to compensate for the 1 1/3 stop difference (though the RX100V's lens does stay brighter longer)
If you knew how to use a directivity white balance filter and manually lock the white balance on the RX100, the authenticity and beauty of the colors in the photos you take will be unsurpassed!
I want a cheap and good 4k60 camera. Somehow all cheaper cameras just have 4k30 which is just bad. It doesn't look good, especially if you film things or people in motion.
4k60 is a lot of data to be processed in real time. That's probably why cheap cameras only do 4k30. If you want higher frame rate either shoot 1080p60 or wait for the used prices to come down.
ZV-1f is a lot cheaper but is missing a bunch of the features in this camera. It's targeted towards vlogging and has a fixed 20mm equivalent lens. Probably a fine camera (never used one) but they're for vastly different purposes.
Those two cameras aren't even close to being the same as this. Both cameras you listed are fixed focal length cameras with worse AF that you have to work around. And don't even think about shooting video with those cameras... Don't get me wrong, they're fun to shoot, and you'll likely get better image quality from them (and they start up faster too), but saying that they're light years ahead is just plain wrong. I mean heck, this has hardware from the Sony A9 in it.
30p = frame rate 100M = bitrate (100Mbps) 100M is going to be higher quality than 60M but give larger file sizes given the same frame rate (each frame is better quality, essentially)
After 3 years with a long trip to the USA and now as of July 2024 it is defective with repair costs (exchange of circuit board) costs over 300 euros. THANKS CHINA GOODS! Will not have them repaired and can be scrapped. Apparently it's SONY now, defective after the warranty just like the XM4 headphones, 2 before with no problems until now and much OLDER. What is ! Batteries defective. I'm curious to see how long my television will run for, thanks to which I also have a total of 6 years warranty.
Any camera with an electronic zoom is not suitable for street photography. You either need a fixed lens or a manual zoom to quickly frame your shots. I had the pancake olympus ez14-42 which was ok but same problem, zoom in/out too slow. I don't understand why manufacturers are not making more compact ergonomic street camera besides fuji.
Hello, I’m shooting on an EM5 III, and also have an iPhone X. I am looking to either upgrade my phone or get a point and shoot. Basically, I find that I need something I can just fit in my pocket and take raw photos. Any advice? I’ve heard the iPhone 15 is pretty good.
Shoots 4K at 30fps? Yes that's the very minimal nowadays the Sony A6700 shoots 4K at 120fps also who sold this at $500?! The MK7 are going used at $900+ on Ebay!
I got the rx100 IV. I wouldnt say its beginer friendly exactly. First its pretty expensive and secondly as it is super compact, controls are sometimes not very convenient. Auto mode is dope tho, but you can do similar with more affordable cameras
Honestly if you're starting out, I'd go for a used aps-c or m4/3 mirrorless camera. Or even an old DSLR. No sense spending this much money on a compact like this, especially since the controls aren't the most intuitive either. Honestly, the cheapest option would be to first learn using your phone. They can make some damn good photos these days.
That's because it is not best point and shoot camera. It's much better Canon G5x Mark II. I could say, it's better M5A than M7 because better lens althought has less zoom
@@raulillo88 2.8 is still pretty good. But yeah for what is touted as premium maybe not. My Fujifilm X10 has 2-2.8 between 28-112mm (equivalent) and it’s never on a list of premium (rightly so). I’m not a brand fanatic so I use the gear I like.
No it’s not the best point/shoot camera. I used this camera for a few weeks before returning it. It’s too slow to start up from power-off - takes a few seconds for the lens to open. Therefore I missed many shots. Also the images are noisy in any environment that’s not bright daylight. It is a sharp-looking pocket camera, but not a practical street camera, at least for me.
I mean it's the best P&S camera with a 24-200mm equiv super zoom. The slow start up and power off are a bit annoying for sure though. For street shooting I'd rather take the Ricoh GR III/x, or Fuji X100. Or just use my phone.
These influencers will recommend any crap for a click. This may be a good camera, but most professionals recommend a full frame or the cropped medium format cameras from Fuji or Hasselblad.
Will it fit in your pocket? If you don't need a pocket camera then you definitely shouldn't buy this. If size isn't an issue, I can find you a better used camera for less than what he paid for this camera, but that's not the point.
