Yeah! So happy you did this video! Will definitely try some of your tops! My favorite is Maybelline supertay better skin 30 warm nude I think we are the same shade it's good coverage for drugstore and doesn't look dry and chalky on my normal combo mature skin. I live up north in Québec so would have to see how it performs in your hot climate ;-)
Jane Iredale has beautiful powder foundations...I feel like her line is somewhat misunderstood. I use powder foundation quite a bit even though a lot of it gets shiny on me throughout the day. I agree that color can be a challenge...some I have to use in a customized way, Laura Geller being one, which can be a pain but they look nice once applied. I haven't tried the Giorgio Armani yet, but I really like the MUFE and MAC. This was helpful...thank you Stephanie🧡🍂🌞
Stephanie Marie Ha! I actually like the Laura Gellar and the Tarte. Try the KvD!!! I loooooove it!! I really have been wanting to try the Makeup Forever powder but is it super matte?? I’m 51 and have been using tinted moisturizer more lately with a kind of dewy powder like Lancôme Absolue in Pêche, UD Illuminating baked powder for face and body etc and Hourglass powders.
Jcat has one that I’ve been loving! I actually use the sponge that comes with it to apply. There’s some other YT videos reviewing it which is how I found it
Stephanie, thank you for posting this video I been waiting for your recommendations. I live in Puerto Rico and the weather is very similar to your state . I use Mac studio fix with hourglass primer and UD all nighter and it works very well.
Dear Steph...once again an awesome vid! Just want to thank you, from the bottom of my heart for, in all the years that you've had your channel, not using harsh language. I can have my girls listen to àny of your videos. Thank you! Luv u 💓
There is a real reason why I feel that U r one of the best channels out there PERIOD!! The thought and effort that goes into ur videos are so evident. U give amazing thorough reviews and are so honest. LOVE this video and all ur of ur videos💕💕💕
I totally agree with you on Mac! Powder foundations are really hot right now with a bunch of brands coming out with new ones, but the Mac is still my favorite. It wears the best out of all of them and has such a great shade range
Three o clock in the morning after a bartending shift, couldn’t wait to see your #1. I’m older than you too! My powder foundation is MAC Studio fix as well! It truly gets me OMG I can’t believe you are 50, you look 35 comments! Only thing I’ve found that doesn’t set in wrinkles, stays on all day, and doesn’t need any other products to preform as it says it will. Highly recommend it to all ladies who can’t find a liquid foundation that suits mature skin.
I just bought the Milan I powder for those lazy days. The coverage is pretty light, but it hides my redness which is what’s important to me. It came with a sponge in the lower compartment!
I love Mac studio fix it's the best. As a man I like that it is high cover and only need a little. Never broke me out. Best match. Just learn to work w it and it won't fail. I strayed and tried so many others and always came back to this. Nc41 and nc43.5 is my boo!!!
I LOVE mineral powder foundation so much! Yes, you really have to spend a little more time prepping your skin, and spend a little more time applying it… BUT the end result is BEAUTIFUL and natural looking. Like you just have flawless skin ❤️
Thank you for sharing your fails and favorites in this video. The IT Cosmetics CC+ is a favorite. I use it over a tinted moisturizer, over a foundation or on it's own. I love the finished look and it's versatile. For mineral foundations. I like the Jane Iredale Pure Pressed powder and the Trish McEvoy Mineral powder. I have combination skin (notmal/oily) and all work beautifully.
Ranking my powder foundations: 1) MAC Studio Fix 2) Bare Minerals Barepro Performance Wear Powder Foundation 3) Laura Mercier Smooth Finish 4) Sephora Collection Matte Perfection Powder Foundation 5) Smashbox Powder Foundation (no longer available?) 6 Kat von D Powder Foundation (I have the 2017/18? version. Not sure if they just changed the packaging or also the formula, since that version. I bought 3 when they went on clearance, before the switch... ) I don’t mind talc, but I can’t do powders with corn starch, mineral oil and or fragrance (aka floral extracts, essential oils or citrus peel/oil). And I don’t like foundation powders that “give a glow” (with glitter/shimmer.)
The hot, humid southern weather really has an increased effect on the longevity and the oil production of oily skin. I used to use an Estee Lauder powder foundation which they discontinued to create the Double Wear line. That's when I took a risk on Bare Minerals and never looked back since then. I can wear it in the heat, the humidity, and it powers through work-outs and I forget it is on. It feels clean and doesn't make my face even more oily.
I’ve been looking forward to seeing this video. I so appreciate the comparisons. My favourite is Studio Fix powder foundation. I’m 63 with dry sensitive allergic reactive skin. As long as I moisturize well this works well. It can get very overly powdery though and I always need to hit it with Fix Plus spray. Second favourite is Lancôme Dual Finish and except for the dreadful fragrance it would be my top pick. It’s easier for my dry skin & has a pretty satiny finish that just looks great. Doesn’t need a spray of Fix Plus.
Yipeeee!!! I’ve been waiting on this review and it didn’t disappoint! What a great job you did testing all these foundations. I live in Georgia, and during the warmest months I go to my Bare Minerals because I can’t stand the feel of liquid on my combination skin in heat and humidity. I’m 59 with rosacea and need to have coverage everyday. I will definitely try one of your top 3. I have always wanted to try the Studio Fix too. Thanks for this review, because your skin type and humidity of where you live is so similar, it is a huge help! Great job Stephanie!!
I am 29 and I read in the title mature, oily skin, and I was like great, at 29 I am considered "mature skin" thinking you were my age. Your skin looks fantastic (at any age) but especially for 40.
The IT powder foundations are also Talc free. I use the IT celebration powder foundation. Not my favorite but I can’t use liquid foundations two days in a row without breaking out and the IT celebration is gentle on my skin.
Ohhh I love MAC too! It wonderully sets make up or wears alone on oily/combo skin :) it has a lot of shades and honestly you need so little of it that it takes forever to hit the pan. It is definitely ones of the best choices considering as well price per product amount. Glad we have same favorites :)
I have oily/combo skin and love the Laura Geller. I use a primer and then the Tarte Shape Tape concealer FIRST then put the Laura Geller on top with a setting spray. For me that is the most natural finish for me that lasts the longest. I am 31 and live in North Carolina so a less humid environment than New Orleans.
I'm a Geller Girl too, works well with Becca primer on T Zone my second fav is IT celebration but I have to use a setting spray to keep the shine away...
This was such an excellent review of so many powder foundations. Your in-depth opinions and actually showing them on your skin is truly helpful and appreciated. I’ve tried the Bare Minerals many years ago and wasn’t a big fan. I personally prefer a liquid since my skin has been more dry lately. Thank you for your honest review as always! 😘
This was a great review thank you so much for taking the time to do it I am now going out to purchase your number one choice. I’ve been trying to purchase a powder foundation for those quick days on the weekend where you don’t want to fuss but I was lost in the choices this completely narrowed it down for me so I will be going to Ulta and have them match me. Thank you!!!!
When I am at the beach or running to an early am soccer game, I do like the balance and brighten. But on regular days, nope- I love Clinique Even Better😊
Great review!!! Loved it...on the Milani powder I just bought it got to say I didn't like it. And the sponge is in there it's taped on the back of the package. The one I liked best in you was the MUF. It looks flawless! But MY holy grail is and has always been...Mac Studio Fix Powder Foundation!. The coverage is just awesome on the 1st swipe...I will never change to anything else. But thanks for this review Marie!!
I'm so thrilled to find a reviewer in New Orleans! I live in Alabama, and it is so hard to gauge if someone's "oily skin routine" is going to also hold up to the flat-out sweat that we also deal with!.
Same! Watching from Florida where humidity’s 80+% on the regular, then add hot flashes and internally combusting from the world going to hell oh and top it off with a cloth mask and suddenly lightweight but opaque makeup takes on a new level of importance!
I’m an oily 45 year old girl in 🇬🇧 😉, I do like Clinique’s almost makeup powder foundation and when I’m wearing it my kids always comment on how good my skin looks but I’m not sure if it contains talc so I try not to wear it everyday. It’s definitely worth a try xx
Nude By Nature is an Australian 🇦🇺 brand that is available in Canada 🇨🇦 at Shoppers Drug Mart. The company claims one foundation powder is sold every minute, worldwide 🌎. I was using (and still have) the Tarte Powder Foundation. I agree with you that it is excellent and very underrated. A Sephora skin consultant recommended the Tarte Foundation Powder to me. She recommended it because I have trouble with physical tasks and this one goes on easily. Nude by Nature topped the Tarte Foundation Powder for me.
I’m an oily 51 yr old and my favorite full coverage powder foundation is the It Cosmetics Celebration Powder Foundation I love both the Illumination version and the original .. they are so creamy, full coverage and. beautifully velvety matte I then use the It CC powder that you reviewed as a finishing powder they also have it in Illumination or regular matte finish... I also love the Catrice matte powder foundation but I think it has been discontinued ..
This is SO HELPFUL. I love how you help so many people you help with your videos. I’m at so curious about these. Thanks for being so amazing I’m well older. (58). 🤫. Ha ha. This is what o needed
These tips are spot on. I quit the powder foundation in my mid 40s . Now 50 I just discovered Laura Geller balance and bright is the best powder foundation for dry textured skin. Gives amazing coverage and doesn't look Matte settle in lines or crease and look and feel like I have a mask on. Better than any liquid at filling pores and smoothing out texture (without primer) and hiding redness. My lancome all-over concealer works so well under eyes with this. I do lightly use my baku-chiol oil and my hero force shield before applying this powder and I live in Louisiana very humid and hot. Even still This makeup stay beautiful on my face all day. Laura Geller bronzer is great as well. My skin is dry however my tone is prone to become oily during day, leaving me to have to touch up any foundation and for me LG stays and feels beautiful all day!
I really needed this video! I’ve been looking for a good powder foundation and I’ve been struggling to find one. I will definitely be looking into your recommendations ❤️
I have only tried one powder foundation on my mature, dry skin. It is the Koh Gen Do Gloss Film foundation. I actually really like this one. The key for me with any powder foundation is to not over apply. If I use it as a light wash of color, just evening out my skintone, it looks fabulous! And it feels so smooth, like nothing on my skin. I am interested in the Pur 4 in 1 powder foundation but a bit too nervous to actually try it. This was super helpful! Thanks a bunch!💚💜
I need to try the Armani powder foundations for sure!! ☝🏼 I’m also curious about the MUF one. Fantastic job on putting this list together and going through all the fine details with us as well as listing all the weights, sizes and deets on the screen. 👏🏼
I really enjoyed your video, Stephanie. My favorite powder foundation is the IT CC+ 50SPF. I have normal skin. My daughter has normal skin with an oily T-zone, and it's her favorite too. Blessings..MaryEllen
My favorite is the original BareMinerals loose foundation. I've been wearing it since 2004. And I'm stocked up! I am curious about the J Cat Aquassurance foundation though.
I bought too faced cocoa powder foundation after watching your video.and was shocked when it was discontinued. Haven't found anything up there till now. I hope this video helps me for a new recommendation.love your channel!!
I know this video is old but you should try the Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Loose Powder Foundation! 2 even layers leaves me evened out, smooth and just beautiful.
I was so excited when I saw you posted this! I have several of these but fight a bit w/ them all. Going to be checking out your powder foundation tutorial. I would like to see you apply your favorite. I'll have to check your past posts.
My current favorite is the IT Cosmetics CC+. I also like Laura Geller's Balance-N-Brighten foundation. Thanks to your through reviews, I've found a couple more I'd like to try, especially the ones by MAC and Milani.
Just bought double wear today!! Wore it to the gym lol to try it out. NOT HAPPY. And it was pricy! Going to Sephora tomorrow to try their powder foundation. Love that I found this channel.
Did you try it with my method? If not, try it that way! It's converted a lot of people! I show it here (updated) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q8Bf8bZMOi8.html and here (original) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-raJHq7YmMNg.html . It may help you!
It's in the pipeline! I just did my first NEW top foundations video a few weeks ago - full-coverage. Getting the other categories together now! Thank you for placing your trust in me and for watching! :)
Thank you for this video! It reminded me that I have 3 of your top 6 sitting in my makeup drawer. The MUFE is my favorite bc it gives me such a nice finish, but it's in my summer color. I plan to pick up a lighter shade during VIB sale time. I popped my It Cosmetics one in my purse bc I think it will be great for touchups and I used my MAC today. I hadn't used it in such a long time but it looks beautiful. Once I work through these I will be looking into the Milani and the Armani. Great video!
Great video! Very helpful. Lately I’ve been using the Too Faced but it just doesn’t hold up well, so this gives me some ideas of what to try next. Thanks, Stephanie!😊
Great recommendations! I love the MuFE, but pretty sure it was clogging my skin. I also love the Cover FX pressed mineral powder foundation (talc free!) as well as Osmosis & Glo Skin Beauty’s pressed powder foundations.
Thanks Stephanie for the detailed run-down; 3rd time I'm watching. I have used the Laura Geller but don't often use powder foundation. Have a nice weekend!🌞
I have been a bare minerals user for about 20 years until I found Laura Gellar, I was really surprised this was so low on your list, but everyone is different! I do wish that LG would expand their shade range. My daughter loves this foundation but has a hard time matching. Live this video thank you for a great review.💕
Same here! I used Bare Minerals for years until it started settling into my fine lines (even with primer). I tried the LG and LOVE it! I use it over image tinted moisturizer and spray with everyday vacay setting spray and it stays on all day - and I live in Florida. But hey- everyone is different
Can you do the updated powder foundation application video with the Mac studio fix powder foundation, because I want to see your current application technique.. I also have the Mac studio fix powder foundation, but haven't used it for a long time, and I really would like to see how you do it to make it look that great.. 💕 Ps I've seen your powder foundation video back in the day, but I know how much your make up skills improved, so an update is a must 😊
Totally AGREE with the Laura Ghellar being last. No me gusta and no coverage at all! Spot on with that one. Can be used as a powder topper rather than a foundation that’s for sure
OMG - I could not agree more re. the Estée Lauder one - I bought it after having tried it in store - was really impressed but I am now nearing the end of that first compact and my makeup looks shiny and cakey as the day goes on and that’s even though I use oil blotting sheets throughout the day!
Thanks for doing this video - it must have been a lot of work, but the effort is much appreciated! I'm going to look into the Tarte powder foundation based on your review. I used the Bare Minerals matte powder foundation in the past but because they replaced the bismuth oxide with a coconut based powder, it broke me out in the most horrible, painful, deep cystic acne, I have scars still years later. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who avoids coconut in skincare and cosmetics.
Laura geller has double take foundation It’s a baked powder one too but you can use it wet or dry and it’s full coverage I wear both I use double take for dates out and church Balance n brighten for work
I'm 46 yesrs young and have dry skin. My favorite is the LG Balance and Brighten, in the shade fair. The finish is so pretty and I prefer a light coverage so its just my favorite powder foundation, so far. I do like the It Cosmetics celebration illumination powder foundation too. Great video, now I want to try the Wander Beauty, cause I really enjoy their products.
I am vacationing in a hot humid place and the foundations I brought with me were melting off my face so I was super excited to find a recent video from you. Unfortunately my shopping options are limited as is my ability to buy online so I ended up with the Nyx Stay Matte Not Flat. I am looking forward to the end of the day so I can see how it wears. The undertone isn’t quite right so I will be on the lookout for some of your faves. Your earlier video on how to apply powder foundation was essential for me.
Thank you so much! I’m currently finding a powder foundation for daily use. I have normal skin, a bit dry in certain areas. However, I live in a tropical country and the weather here makes me sweat a lot. I’ve used both liquid and cushion foundation and none of them worked, especially for touch-ups. Your review does help me a lot. ☺️
The MAC looked so good on you. I wanted to love it but it broke me out. I'm super oily. Have you tired the CoverFX. I just bought it and seems like the best for me. I have most of the others you reviewed with the exception of Armani. I just can't seem to justify over $60 for powder. This review was great!!
I don't recommend MAC Studio fix foundation to mixed skin prone to acne, I used to apply all time at the university, Its soo good to coverage but at the same it affects pores. My skin sprouts a lot and Its was frustrating for me. I used this product around two years I know what I say.Unfortunally I didn't have the knowledge about other products that help my skin.
In my 20s I usually just wore some powder and it wasn’t foundation (sigh). When mineral powder foundations were popular in the early 2000’s I was using the Neutrogena. It came with a built-in brush. It was my go to foundation for a long time, back before I started watching RU-vid and only bought one foundation at a time!😹 I have 2 powder foundations currently. Maybelline Superstay which is nice but I really shouldn’t be buying it because it’s not cruelty free. I also have IT cosmetics celebration foundation which came in a package deal with the cc cream and a brush from QVC. I have the Mac studio fix sitting in my shopping cart at Ulta. That will be the next one I try and I was happy to see it was one of your top picks. I would like you to do a similar run down with only drugstorepowder foundations. This was a great video! I appreciate all the time and effort you put into it and I enjoyed watching it. 👍💕💯
I love Clinique Super Powder Double face. I have been using it for over 30 years! I have been trying to find a review of it but no luck so far. Would love to see how it compares to your recommendations.
