The Rode videoMicro Dead Cat Improvement DIY video is a bout an improvement that you can do to your Rode videomicro. This DIY trick makes the dead cat sit better on the mic.
I have found the Rode Videomicro to work really well for vlogs and other fast videos that need better sound. I have had only one problem with this microphone and that is with the dead cat. But with this mod the problem is gone.

I found the easiest way to overcome this was to put the dead cat on beffore putting it in the mount. Just push it on until it feels like you are about to push it out the other side and you will feeel the clip. Then go ahead and put it on the cradle.

The deadcat on mine is super tight, and needs a proper pull to come off. There's a small rubber ring just inside the deadcat that needs to be pushed tightly into the mic to seat it correctly without any need for mods.

This is a really smart hack! There is a ridge inside the dead cat that will sort of snap in place on an indention on the mic itself. I had the same problem that you had and after having a closer look at the mic, I noticed the ridges. Hope this helps!

I fixed this in a couple minutes with a thin piece of velcro I cut with scissors. One side goes on the mic, other side of velcro goes on the inside of the dead cat. Stays on firm but comes off easy still.

You just grab the inside of it close to where it goes around the mic and you pull it till you hear a light pop it doesn’t come off

Mine doesn't have any trouble attaching to the mic, but I can't seem to mount it my GoPro Hero8 (with media kit) without the dead cat being visible in the shot.
