interesting fact: Crocs were used in the movie Idiocracy due to the low budget of the movie and the wardrobe designer seeing them and thinking they'll never become popular due to their odd design.
Its crazy how you'd wear these a couple years back and you'd get joked on for it but when fashion celebs wore it, crocs became more on the iconic side than lame and was made ok to wear these in public again now
@@epistarter1136proves the point that confidence and individuality is everything. Wear whatever the hell you wanna wear, in a hundred years you’ll be dead and fashion trends will be entirely different lol
Tbh I don’t think it would make to much a difference he dosent really get more surface area and his feet still work the same way as ours just there flat so it would probably only be slightly better webbed hands or feet on the other hand add lots of surface area allowing you to push more water
@@snoot6629Really sad, the good thing is though majority of people who bullied you for having wide feet are now already inline for getting knee or bunion removal surgery or def some major some issues with spine, neck. etc if they aren't already they will be in next few years or decade.
Im a nurse. Id wear compression socks and tight ass shoes. My feet would hurt so bad at the end of my shift. Once i got crocs my feet stopped swelling and I can be on my feet for hours with no issues. I even moved in them. They protected my toes from heavy stuff and stayed comfy.
Yeah crocs feel so comfortable I always hated wear shoes because my feet are flat but once I started working in crocs every once of pain went right away
Start wearing shoes with wider toe box. And sometimes go barefoot outside. Your feet will eventually go back to it’s original form like it’s suppose to it. Flatfeet for me is like having a deformed arm.
@@unitedwestunt He does not have cankles, lol. Just don't want varicose veins or leaking vessels from too much standing. Human body was designed to lay, walk/run, and squat ( not the exercise), not sit or stand in place for long periods. It just is not, my feet show that the body can't take that exposure to contant pressure.
I relate so much to this! My feet are so flat, I just destroy shoes. I’ve done physical therapy, relearned how to walk, everything. And my feet literally bust out the inside side seam of every shoe… but the crocs, I can wash them, I can put fun things in the holes, I can get them in any color I want, and they LAST. Truly revolutionary for those of us with flat feet!!
@@lanxy2398 damn… sounds like you’d benefit from custom shoes made by an orthopedic specialist. Although I know those would be a pain in the ass to get, even if you have insurance 🥲
Crocs are comfortable. I also like Vans, but the instep is really low and the toebox is too narrow, so I can't wear them. My feet hurt so much and my feet change according to the shape of the shoe. I wish other brands' sneakers would make a wide toe box.
@@johnanon658 i speak for everyone when I say thank you for this. We can all benefit from this information. I would like to throw in new balance as a brand that sells some wide toe box shoes.
@@seanandrews5329 no, you see, NB wides, or most any “wide” shoe are wide in the whole foot, which means they are too loose around the instep and ankle, and they still have that shape that makes the bigtoe swoop in. Only Altras, Crocs and Birkenstocks are made in actual foot shape at the toe box, besided “barefoot shoes” which are such but also have emphasis on being very flexible overall and with thin “zero drop” soles and reduced or no “toe spring.” Good luck!
This will not fix your foot alignment. The issue is not dissimilar from poor back posture, in that it stems from not having a sufficient muscle base to support the arches of the foot, or simply not activating them when standing or walking. Good news is that it’s pretty simple to fix, just takes work and consistency, just like correcting back posture. The main problem is the anterior tibial muscle, which plays a major role in supporting the long arch of the foot. 👌
@@buckbuckleyson2259 thank you for taking the time to reply. I think there may be a slight misunderstanding though, posture is simply position in a physiological context. There is good posture and poor posture, referring to how close the position is to a physiological ideal for function of the structures at play. The components involved are bones as a foundation, ligaments as connections between bones and muscles/tendons which are responsible for tensioning the aforementioned correctly according to the task at hand to keep good posture. I’m quite aware of the physiology, anatomy and pathology of feet. I make orthopaedic insoles and also had flat feet and poor back posture myself. I no longer have flat feet, or poor back posture because I have trained the muscle groups that stabilise each and can activate the arches on my feet at will.
@@jaeyd4I pronate a lot and love my birkos as well. I'm contemplating surgery for my Morton's neuroma. Should restoring my arches prevent me from surgery? Is wearing correct toes in wide shoes enough to to this?
At 65 I began having toe cramps and burning in my foot with numbness, to my toes. My sister in law who is physical therapist gave me the toe spreaders and the worked while I slept. I had worn 5 finger shoes before and put them back on. My foot discomfort has reduced by greater than 50%, spreading my toes out and having better balance points has really helped.
I personally wear a random pair of Shaqs I got from Meijer, they're super cheap, super wide, and have held up super well, I would highly recommend them to anyone
Hobbits don't have flat feet, they have "wide" feet (relative to humans). Important difference that is underappreciated. Also, when people say they have "wide feet", what they really mean is they have "wide feet" *relative* to other modern-shoe-wearing-humans. "Modern" shoes are an absolute menace. Barefoot shoes are the way to go, or better yet, where you can, barefoot is king.
I have flat feet and I’ve been working out/weight lifting in crocs for like 6months now and I adore it!!! My toes have literally spread apart. I don’t have monkey feet but it’s way better than squished bunions from wearing high heels and combat boots too Much! I do cardio on the elliptical so I’ve never ran in them before but I would if I knew they wouldn’t fly off! Maybe I’ll give it a try lol 😂
I walked 3km in Crocs and got painful blisters on the top of the foot. I guess light sweat on the rubber made it a bit sticky and worsened the friction with the soft skin. I can't imagine running a marathon in them unless I could chalk my feet every half mile! I love my Crocs for short distances though.
My walk changed significantly when I started wearing barefoot shoes. At first, it was hell to wear them and caused me a lot of pain, but after 2 months, my positioning and balancing changed drastically
How come shoe companies don't adopt the shoe box design. Its more comfortable, it lets your toes breath and its proven to be more beneficial. Can someone explain?
I had really flat feet like him when I was young I decided I didn't want flat feet anymore so I fixed it as I grew I walked on my tippy toes every day with no shoes now I have a healthy high arch I believe there's some research to be done there.
No new research required. People just need to take a step back from city ideals. I grew up in the country, barely wearing shoes, running with dogs. Flat foot was never a concern lol
@@x3r0x0ul You sure it's not your ignorance? My english is plain, no double negatives necessary. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5829167/#:~:text=Our%20results%20suggest%20that%20use,stiffness%20and%20potentially%20flat%20foot. Above is a pubmed study on the relation between modern footwear and being flat footed, a disorder resulting from weakness of the ligaments in the foot arch. The body is a mechanism built around efficiency, if you wear arch cushioned shoes, the foot no longer requires the ability to support itself. I may be from the country, but I'll run circles around you any day lol
Yes growing up I watched my mothers flat feet cage in as she didn’t train her feet … I too have the same feet as my mother but they’re TRAINED I created my own arch and continue to be conscious of it
You can slowly work down to minimal & zero drop shoes & it'll help. Don't try switching over straight to barefoot or super flat shoes like this or you'll mess yourself up. Work your way down to shorter heels if you need to 1st.
Dude, those are actually some of the worst shoes out there. Watch the other Squat University shoe shorts. Plus, they are $300 bucks. You are paying extra for injury
@@rebchizelbeak5392 I’m a firm believer in the Yeezy 350s. I had plantar fasciitis really bad for a few years and they cured it after just 2 weeks of wearing them everyday.
@@CactusBrannigan Have you never seen the Yeezy 350s?? They do NOT have a “thin toe box”. And Ye was right, you ARE one of his haters-even tho he’s the one that signed you. You just hate on everything he does! He was right for saying what he said about you on Drink Champs 🤣
Yea, I’m still not wearing crocs. There are plenty of sneakers that have wide toe boxes and better support. It’s hardest for me to find good dress shoes with wide toe boxes. I just order EEE wide dress shoes a size too large and add her cushions to make up for the extra length.
There are some "Barefoot" dress shoes on the market nowadays... They dont look as dressy cuz the slight heel and pointiness are what people look for in dressy, but better for your feet. Video wasn't telling you to wear cros btw.
My mom always told me not to wear them as a kid, because wearing crocs as a kid flattens your feet. Now I cannot thank her enough for constantly saying that.
You are commuting a relationship fallacy. Because Crocs support flat feet (or arched feet for that matter), one should not assume they are the cause of flat feet (or arched feet for that matter). Imagine saying your tennis shoes will turn a flat foot arched. Sound ridiculous yet?
I love crocs, I have flat feet and lower back pain. I only wear crocs now as they are the most comfortable shoe I’ve found. Podiatrists don’t seem to like them but they are perfect for my feet
Altra and Topos have fantastic wide toe boxes! Both have a 0mm toe drop, and Topos have a transition shoe of 4 or 5 mm toe drop. Altra have the AltraFWD that has a 4mm toe drop but I've heard that they're switching to 2 new transition shoes in the fall. I was having issues with my feet rolling in with my Brooks that I had been training with just 1 month before my first half-marathon. Switching to Altra shoes helped reduce my knee pain from my feet rolling in.
Yeah. Completely agree. This one time I was hiking 7+ miles a day. After the first day I had crazy knee pain. I bought some Crocs and then didn’t have pain during the rest of the hike
As much as I hate government regulation, I do wish shoe manufacturers had to stop making small shoe boxes, especially in kids shoes. If they couldn’t deform kids feet with small toe boxes for 10-15 years, the problem would solve itself because no young people would dare torture themselves as adults & begin deforming their feet then. The problem is our feet are already deformed by small toe boxes before we are old enough to remember what it was like to have healthy, wide feet.
Topo running shoes have amazingly wide toe boxes. Some Altras do, too, but newer models have been shrinking the toe areas. I like my topo persuits more than any altra shoe I’ve owned.
I have very wide feet and the only shoes that I have been able to wear without going 3 sizes over have been caterpillar boots(bruisers specifically). I'm on my second pair now, bought this year after my previous pair that lasted just over 10 years. It's not perfect, I still have to go 1 size over, but it's a lot better than having a 5cm gap between my toes and the front of the shoe. The only shoes I can wear all day working, walking, hiking, thar haven't given me ingrown toenails
So happy I started wearing insoles in my teens which formed a small arch. I can wear whatever I want with no pain. I was active when I was younger and before I got insoles used to come home in pain for hours.
Crocs have a great selection of shoes too that you can wear bear foot in them. I have wide feet and tear most normal sized shoes. I can wear croc shoes to December in Quebec and very durable. Love them!
I have flat feet too😩Lol. However, I’ve never bought Crocks before. But thanks to this video. I will be purchasing a pair now along with those toe thingies🤗
Im a nurse on the floor and wear crocs for 13hrs up to 5 days a week!! I knew there was something to these babies. I wear the platform ones though. They have a little more narrow design around my arch
That genuinely looks so painful i had no clue what a flat foot was till now i always thought i had it a little bit because my feet pain. But now i know i am horribly mistaken
