I agree, I think silk blouses are a great alternative to a starched button down and you listed most of my favorite brands! I think I've recommended her to you before but I really love Anne Fontaine blouses. She's does great classics and more extravagant styles. They're very feminine and tailored beautiful so they never gap at the chest. For those that are supposed to wear starched blouses, she has some classics that are more of a cotton in the chest and the sleeves and back are a beautiful stretchy material but you can't tell when looking that they're different fabrics. I very highly recommend! If you look at my instagram (@chicprofessor) you can see that I wear them all the time 😃 Thanks for sharing!
What a great video! It has me excited for spring. I live here in the PNW and silk blouses are so perfect for professional wear during this transition from winter to spring. Perfect timing, Elle!
Hey Elle! I just wanted you to know, I absolutely love your channel. You are such a beautiful and classy lady. I have gained so many fashion ideas and recipes! Just know you are appreciated for all your hard work!
I love my silk blouses, they last forever. I consider mine antique because they are so old, all from Nordstrom's and Bloomingdales, French cuffed sleeves with hand cuff buttons. I declutter my closet on a regular, but can not let go of my beauties 🙋🏻
Hi Elle! Thanks for this super informative video! Would you consider adding sizes to the information you share when you do these try on hauls? It would make the videos in this series even more helpful. Thanks!!
Hi Elle, thank you for this video. I love blouses, too, but shy away because of static cling. Do you experience this with your silk or polyester blouses? I’m not a huge fan of static removal spray’s but do use them occasionally. Any advice from you or any of your watchers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! 😊
Thank you for such a quick response! It’s been a while since I’ve purchased 100% silk, maybe that’s the difference. I will give that a try. It is definitely a dryer climate here, but not a good feeling to walk into work with a blouse that was fine at home, only to find that it’s suddenly shrink wraps itself to your body. So not a good look. 🙈
Thank you Elle, this is very helpful! I was wondering do you tuck in silk blouses for work trousers or keep them out? I tuck in cotton, button-down but as you mentioned they do get uncomfortable with time. And I am thinking of switching completely to silk blouses!
I just started my new job last week as a billing specialist at a mid sized US law firm... got a few outfits to hold me over but I’ll soon be heading over to Nordstrom to invest in some nicer things... (once I feel settled in my job and that I’m doing ok). It’s been tough. Haven’t worked in the legal industry ever before but learning a lot! Who knew there are so many different timekeepers.... originating, billing, working, responsible and supervising... aahhhh!!!! And the software is pretty complex too... Any tips for someone just stepping foot into the legal industry but not as a lawyer?
Out of curiosity... what's your opinion about patterns in workwear? For example, I don't think the chili pepper blouse is exactly business formal, so would you save it for just casual friday or a day without any meetings scheduled? Also, you don't seem to wear much leopard print, but do you think that animal prints aren't work appropriate? I have a gorgeous leopard print blouse that I love that is all black, brown, and camel colored neutrals, but I don't wear it to work unless it's under a blazer to tone it down. Am I being too fussy about prints?
I think prints are a great way to express your personality for business formal, just wear them with a basic neutral suit. I would absolutely wear my chili print blouse. I do think it depends on the tone of the office (what you do, what colleagues are like) rather than the dress code.
What about breathability? I love the look but I fear the swear factor. (I have had co workers who lived in silky blouses but always seemed to have sweat patches going on). Are some more breathable than others? Is real silk likely to show sweat or is the synthetic the more prone?
What size do you buy in Equipment? I have never tried them in the UK and would love the star one however they don't explain their sizing. The model on their website wears a small which lead me to think that their sizing run small as usually modest wear xs. Thanks for replying.
Thank you for your reply and sorry for my late reply :). Did you take an XS or S in the white and black star shirt from Equipment? I didn't catch your meaning on that specific one xx
