Originally I was going to buy a Sony A6000 but when I saw you could not add an external microphone I totally changed my mind and I bought the Sony A63000. In retrospect I see Sony has come up with an EXTERNAL Microphone solution, the ECM-XYST1M. It is a nice little package for an external consumer microphone package. Wind rejection is not great even with the windscreen but the up side is, it gives you a mode where you can separate the microphones by 120 degrees which creates a sound space similar to how your ears pick up and hear. If you go record a consort or acoustical set you won't be too disappointed as long as there isn't a lot of ambient noise in the room or bass (low frequency harmonics). I was extremely impressed with it's stereo separation in the 120 degree mode. Overall for the price it isn't bad and it is a great little tool to have in your bag of tricks. I am looking for a gadget similar to this that I can review that will adapt to the Sony Multi Shoe and will allow you to plug in a microphone of your choice. Maybe I just gave someone an idea?
