Oh ok. I didn’t read the comments for the first 3 minutes, then the disbelief overtook me, but the comments reassured me that physics still exist. Edit: I meant first 1 minute
I agree with your review. Great show overall. Yes it has flaws, but this is some of the best content we have got from disney. Star wars fans : everyone has plot armor and no one ever dies. Disney : okay almost everyone dies, are you happy now? Fans : NOOOO IT IS TERRIBLE! Fans : we need better saber battles! Not like the sequels with rey and kylo. Disney : hold my beer while we give you the best saber scene since the prequels. Honestly, I'm a fan and I find it hard to understand the profound hate for this show. What the hell do you want?
Just consider which is the more common opinion about this series given all the responses you get in your comment section, and the show gets literally everywhere. It is so much across the board that you can't just ignore it and say it's a matter of different opinions and lack of lore knowledge on your part. This is an established fantasy world that has been around for nearly 50 years. There is A LOT to tell outside the super popular stories of the films about this universe. No one's asking for more stories told from the Skywalker saga, that story is well established and is pretty much open and closed shut. That is why part of the outrage is the showrunner's attempt to keep telling a story that feels forced into already established lore, and it makes drastic changes to make sure it fits in. It's unearned and disrespectful for the source material, and just feels like another easy cash-grab. Andor is an example of how to do exactly that, but correct. The Acolyte did not succeed, barely even tried to do the same. You say that you enjoyed it more because you know less about the lore and I get that, but why is that knowledge detrimental to the viewers? Why does knowing and loving content that was made over 50 years a bad thing if you want to see this show? You say adding new things is allowed and a part of storytelling, but you miss what is being erased in the process, and you cover it by saying 'what I don't know can't hurt me'. Which is basically saying the show is assuming the viewer is dumb. The showrunners do know all that lore and yet they choose to trample all over it. This is a fanbase that spans decades, includes every nationality and ethnicity known to earth, and is in every age range, yet Disney and other commenters in this comment section would have you believe we are just a bunch of sad internet trolls with too much time on our hands, which is convenient if you don't want to listen to an opposing opinion. let alone millions of them. Dismissing what 95% of viewers have to say by calling them toxic only serves to prove them right, that the show's target audience is not its fans, and that it tries to alienate and seperate itself from them. Good luck with your channel.
While I completely disagree with you and think the Acolyte is easily the most horribly written piece of media I've ever seen (which is very much not an unpopular opinion), I admit that the final episode at least has me semi-interested in what they could do for a season 2. It was one of those shows that was only fun to watch because it kept getting lower and lower in term of quality. Almost seems like the showrunners haven't seen a single piece of Star Wars content in their lives, but to be fair, it was made by Disney.
@@moviesaresoback and only time they did something close to Star Wars was Rough One and Mandalorian season 1. Everything else is a shit show that increasingly gets worse. 8 glowing stick users vs one and he wasn’t chopped in dozens pieces? That’s like…how? Why? The fuck am I watching even??? This show exists only for one reason only. Former personal assistant of Weinstein knows a lot of shit about people, so the gave her 180mil to make whatever she wants with them, but she must do some “entertainment project”. And here we are now, watching that ‘don’t tell anybody about me’ show.
This show is poorly paced and pretty boring for the first 4 episodes but really picks up in the later half. This show's end was truly amazing imo and will be remembered similarly to ep 3 ROTS in that people will continue to hate on it for it's flaws but the silent majority will come out to defend it for all the things it did right. I wish someone would re-edit the show to cut the run time of the first 4 episodes and fix the pacing.
I like the concept of the acolyte but it has major problems with the writing. as of up to ep 7, how can Mae just change intentions in a whim and want to serve the Jedi? How does Torbin kills himself after 10 y because of his homesickness? Why is Sol telling Mae what happened and not telling Osha? How is the Mother witch saying you can not weild the force but uses it anyway to attack and to mind trick torbin?
I don’t think Torbin killed himself due to homesickness - although that is what sparked these events. When Mae got to him during his vow of silence, it was a realization of what he had done. The guilt. He couldn’t live with himself.
He caused the outbreak which caused the fire! His rash decision making based on being homesick got them in that predicament and his guilt overcame him. Would've loved to see this explored deeper but loved the idea.
The word “Sith” is mentioned once - the Stranger even elaborates framing it as a derogatory term the Jedi use for people like him. Thought it was a cool way to explore that force dichotomy through language.
@@moviesaresoback how is it a derogatory term if every sith in history proudly calls themselves that? Leslie Headland just made it a derogatory term for the sake of her new Star Wars. Tell me one other time Maul or Sidius or Vader was ever offended by being called a Sith.
I don't think it's nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. But it's mid at worst, kinda ok at best. I think they are doing some good stuff. At least they didn't make the bad guy the laughing stock of the show. But there's so many story contrivances, and characters literally teleport in and out of existence when its convenient lol. I don't hate it, it's CERTAINLY better than book of boba fett and obiwon show, but I don't love it either
It's a bold move, but heck, everyone else is correctly trashing it, why not make a fake? positive review in order to try get people to see your channel? It's the only thing I can think of to explain this, good luck mate! *Terrible terrible show btw
“It’s time for you to face your guilt, and know the truth” “ON…YOUR… KNEES!” “Only the chosen one can tame both my children” If you know those lines you know that everything Disney is just a big pile of 💩 and Mae and osha have no business even existing 😂
@@TheOgAnarchist seriously though how much do you think he got? My guess is no actual cash, just something like a pass to Disney. Which I guess I would take too. I would just hate myself forever after posting something like this. Unless I wore a mask I guess. One of those realistic expensive ones.
I wholeheartedly disagree with your take and think this show is the biggest piece of trash ever released under the Star Wars name... but I'm not gonna be a d1ck about it, I'm simply going to ask you for your reasoning.... If you are a Star Wars fan at all and actually have a vested interest in seeing the franchise succeed... how are you okay with the writers manipulating the lore and storyline that have been established for years just because they "can"? They literally changed Ki-Adi-Mundis birthdate on Wookiepedia after the episode he appeared in so it would fit their new narrative. They took the mystique that was Anakins "immaculate conception" by the force and said "yeah it happened years before by a coven of witches". They made the Order of the Jedi... the literal keepers of the peace for the galaxy... the bad guys who took children on a whim and acted on impulse and emotion rather than logic and reasoning. How is a take from a content creator who has been on RU-vid for a month supposed to have any credibility against someone like Star Wars Theory, who has a lengthy track record of not only being invested in everything Star Wars but has shown how passionate he is about staying true to the established storylines? I'm sorry dude, as much as you are entitled to your opinion and I have to respect that all I get from you is that you're either a shill who someone at Disney begged to put out a positive critique , a troll who wants to rile up the Star Wars fan base, or someone who just doesn't get it. And that's okay if you don't get it. Appreciate you putting your opinion out there and getting me interested enough to write out a rebuttal! Long live the freedom for healthy discourse.
all are valid points as to why this show is hot fucking dog water and is the worst star wars we have ever gotten ( even worse then the last Jedi) and he could not even give you his reasoning as to why its the best Disney star wars. Aside from the serviceable choreography (polish a turd its still a turd) not sure if I have even had a valid positive thing that's objectively good about the show.
@@logiwankenobii right? He replies to other comments with "can you explain why" or "can you elaborate on your opinion" and hits me with a "thanks for the view"
lol you compared me to somebody I have never even heard of and discredited me because my RU-vid account is a month old? Like… not sure what you expected. I’m loving The Acolyte and wanted to talk about it. Simple as that.
10/10… lmao. If this the approach you’re taking to grow your channel you not going to be around for a long time. I get it, I need to respect your opinion but as a Star Wars fan I have the obligation to called this review BS. And just to correct you. Andor is probably the best Star Wars show in years.
That's satire, it has to be. It's not the worst Disney has put out for Star Wars, but it very much isn't even close to good either, it's a convoluted mess and has so many bad points that it can only be satire
I agree. The amount of hate this show gets is ridiculous and unwarranted. Unlike a lot of other Star Wars projects, it actually attempts to do something new and not just rely on nostalgia/fan service. Apart from maybe KOTOR, this is the first time we really ever got to see the pre-prequel era and earlier days of the jedi and sith. Most other shows and movies just seem to focus on the galactic civil war/new republic era. Trust me, it gets really boring just seeing storm troopers, tie fighters, and x-wings over and over again. The Acolyte may not be the best Star Wars show overall, but it's really not bad either. As a matter of fact, it's probably my favorite live action Star Wars show. I swear, toxic Star Wars "fans" just constantly like to hate on the new thing just because it's "cool" or "trendy" smh🤦♂️
No fanservice thats why they flash naked skin so much in this show and gibe unnecessary cameos like yoda, ki adi mundi and darth plagueis ok. Also the new stuff they trying out is in other words called lore breaking bs such as 1. KI adi Mundi and yoda being around when lots of jedis died by the hands of dark force users in acolyte, yet they state 900 years later that there wasnt any threat nor killed jedis for thousand years. Major lore breaking and unlogical just for the sake of sjowing of a sith killing tons of jedis. 2. Vanestra seems to weild more political Power than the rest of the jedi order + the supreme leader and is a pure liar which isnt what jedis are meant to be. Major lore breaking for the sake of portraying the jedis as the bad ones 3. We were told anakin is the chosen one because hes the first creation from a vengeance in the force, yet mae and osha existed. Major lore breaking point for the sake of introducing some new lesbian space witches . 4. Siths lile qimir are portrayed as just wanting to be free and do what they want so theyre not pure evil just rebels. But if that means having the freedom to be an absolute lunatic, killing everyone they want to, its still evil but the show pushes the point of the jedis actually being the bad ones, same thing with the twin Turning to the dark side just because sol acted in self defence and killed her mother which actually turned into a dark demon after mind posessing his friends and obeying the dark side of the force as the very witch she is and that's justification for her twin and vanestra to say its sol fault and that shes in the right. Major lore breaking point for the sake of inteoducing the view that siths are justified and jedis are the bad ones. n@moviesaresoback
"it actually attempts to do something new and not just rely on nostalgia/fan service." No? If anything, it relies on nostalgia bait and fanservice too much, expecting it to carry the bad acting, writing, pacing, and editing. Before dismissing the 'toxic' fans, maybe think why the bad reception is especially more widespread with this show than others. Maybe try to listen to what the 'toxic fans' actually have to say instead of dismissing it because you think otherwise. There are so many reasons given in a proper and collected way, but are dismissed as toxic simply because they are negative. Well that is how criticism works, ignoring it all is just avoiding the obviously popular opinion among most viewers. You don't get to both bury your head in the sand and also call everybody who thinks differently than you a toxic fan.
One wonders what sord of brain could not see how The Acolyte sucks on every conceivable level, from dreadful writing to appllling acting to cheap-lloking production design. The Acolyte is the tombstone over the grave of a dead franchise.
@@moviesaresoback Anakin’s significance being born through the force. To fully understand this you will need to watch every Star Wars film or show that’s based around Anakin/Vader, but a very very quick summary is that Darth Sideous’ master Darth Plagueis wanted to make a force user out of the Force to submit to the will of him and only the dark side of the force. Instead of this force child for lack of a better term being given to Plagueis the force itself reacted and gave the child to Anakin’s mother who was a virgin. The parallel George was trying to make here was to the story behind Jesus’ birth bc as you know from being a film reviewer George based his stories around the Bible and controversy behind the Vietnam War Ki Adi Mundi saying the Sith haven’t been found for over 1K years in the Phantom Menace (this takes place 100 years before the Phantom Menace) The whole idea of a planet that makes non force users able to do something Darth Plagueis literally spent his life’s work on (this dude literally trained the most powerful Sith the galaxy has ever seen) without him Yoda, young Palpatine/Sideous, or even Ki Adi Mundi did not 1 know about this planet nor even sense it is just preposterous and proof the writers of this show no nothing about the universe this is also just stuff I have collected from the past couple episodes.
@antmitch78 sometimes you can introduce new stuff - like a planet - to a narrative. Kinda cool thing about storytelling. Also glad my “film reviewer” status automatically means I know George Lucas based his stories around the Bible and Vietnam War lol
I haven’t seen The Bad Batch so I can’t factor that in but it doesn’t seem to be my vibe. And yes - Andor would be next in line but this is above it for sure.
It's a great show. the "anakin legacy" defenders are taking things way too far. The show had had great directors, great actors, and great moments. now these "critics" are trapped and have disallowed themselves to like anything Disney Star Wars. If they say they like the Acolyte they run the risk of losing a lot of their fanbase. the so-called protectors of Star Wars need to realize that the more they make Star Wars for everyone, the better chance i get of getting a Star Wars in the flavor i like. Star Wars is not obligated to only make Star Wars in the flavor i approve. I'm nobody and i'm just here to have fun with good entertainment. and if i don't like it, i have no need to rally the world and have everyone else hate it also. everyone needs to relax.
The acolyte is complete garbage, most of the "jedi" in the series look like wet farts could kill them and then there is all the woke nonsense they threw in there because of lesyle headland, and then there was the underwhelming villain who honestly makes kylo ren look like Vader compared to their clearly overpowered sith guy who follows the same rule that now there's an obligatory shirtless scene for all male characters!
I had to watch to see if someone actually thought this, or if it was some sort of parody. Normally I think everyone is entitled to an opinion. But in this case, I think his opinion is objectively incorrect. The show is bad on every level.
this is the worst show I've ever seen. not just star wars, the worst show I've ever seen. the plot is silly and doesnt make any sense. how much is Disney paying you to give this hilarious "review" I clicked on this video thinking the title was ironic
