After years of using the traditional pyramid approach on a four day split routine, I got so overtrained, my body started breaking down with injuries. After a month layoff, I began a HIT split routine every 72 hours and started to get great results. The slow concentric and eccentric movements to failure in one set saved my energy reserves for recovery. No more overtraining for me! Thanks for the informative videos!

Same here. I do upper lower split with 2 or 3 days rest between workouts. I set per body part to complete failure.

I do upper lower but i use a hybrid of high and moderate intensity. I do two excersises with up to 4 sets.

People need to understand that while you can START using one set per muscle eventually you need to progress as your body adapts. You can’t stay at one or two sets forever as your body gets used to that amount of work.

I've trained once a week since I was 19...33 now... sometimes less when I was doing Mike's consolidated routine. From 128lbs to 235lbs...can't complain.

As a society we are told to get to progress do more. But as I get older be it investing ,fitness and life in general . Less and regular is key without complicating and overthinking.

Good video! Full body workouts usually crush me, so i’ve been doing a lower/upper split. So far good results.

I do a 4 day upper lower split and I feel it works fine with me and it's low volume approach of each workout and it works well for me 💁🏻‍♂️😊

I've recently discovered MedX neck work to be a valuable addition, but not a head tilt: Statics with head remaining vertical. This allows greater resistance, is safer, & its effects radiate into the torso. I also find my leg press "strength" improves if I do the neck immediately beforehand.

The only thing I disagree with you on is that a chest press movement can be substituted with a flye movement. Not in the first 3-5 years of building basic mass.. That's like subbing leg extensions for a heavy hip hinge movement for quads.

How does the 1 - 3% accumulate? If it is per week then it is 3 percent of 3 percent of 3 percent etc.... extra which will add up a lot in total in a year

Jay, that was a serious question. I'd really like to know what you think: If a third full body workout only adds 1-3% additional benefit over twice a week, then how much additional benefit do you think a second workout per week adds over and above only once a week or 1.5 times a week (3x/2wks)?

Hi. Does H. I. T help with fatloss of course diet is the way but as a metabolic conditioning tool, should i speed it up from exercise to exercise.

If ive learned one thing with online coaches is that, the ones who call other trainers out for their bullshit always give the best advice. Bodybuilding is not performance base, so you dont have to train like you would train as a footballer in a team. Bodybuilding is based on adaptability. Meaning you have to do everything to recover, adapt and then grow. Unlike athletes who put more emphases on performance in spite of health and then end with multiple injuries at the end of their careers

Do you have a video on how you would be able to determine your ability to recover and adapt? I notice I am making progress using your method and routines. But I often wonder if I could be doing more since I'm doing full body twice a week. What factors do you consider when determining ability to recover?

Simple strategy is train more frequently and see if you make progress faster or slower (or at all). When switching to HIT I opted to start with 3 days a week and when I plateau I’ll drop down to 2 and so on.
