it was such a memorable twist that people bring it up years after as a possibility every time something goes wrong

It's a shame it flopped literally on Week 1. because it had the potential to make for a really fun and drama-filled season, the way it made everyone super paranoid of each other.

@@Broadway_Ben season 13? Rachel won because of a last minute twist Pandora's Box and that veto competition that was exactly the same as the first HOH. That was rushed, you could really tell.

Brayden Fraser for some reason (and this would be more of a gut feeling/intuition thing), I could still see Rachel and Porsche in the end without Pandora’s box. The main difference would be Shelly and Jordan swapping ranks (Jordan being the next evicted since I think Rachel would have still won the Veto even if it was more even level playing field. Then, Porsche knocking out Shelly at 4). In turn, it would have more impressive had Rachel gone to the final that way; all that really did was keep Jordan in the game a little longer.

@@marklisowski6549 I think that season would've been different. Jordan would've gone, then Shelley. Then the game would change a lot here: Rachel wouldn't have competed in the final 4 HOH and since that was the one Porsche won, I think Kalia would've kept pushing for Porsche to get rid of Rachel and Rachel would've left (Kalia had a lot of influence over Porsche except that stupid Pandora's Box move which Kalia couldn't have influenced her). Then they'd have been in the final 3 with perhaps the top 2 being Kalia and Porsche (Kalia is good at endurance and mental competitions, so she'd have won the first and Porsche the second and Adam would've gone home) or Adam would've won the second part of the last HOH and taken out Kalia (who out of the three played the best game). But that's my opinion, but I really wished Porsche didn't activate that Pandora's Box because now we'll never know officially. (I was hoping Kalia or Porsche would've won and in that order.) *edit: I forgot about Adam winning the final 5 POV. He could've just left it the same and if he would've done that, Rachel would have been in the top 2 but with perhaps Shelley or Porsche. *Edit again: I'm a dude, not sure if you knew with the guy intuition comment. I need to change my profile picture soon. I was rocking the long hair then and it didn't help from behind (and up front) I kind of looked like a woman.

Hacker twist or not, Rockstar and Bayleigh have no one but themselves to blame With the hacker twist, the first week had absolutely no effect since Bayleigh was good as backdoored, even if she would have used her power (it would actually have backfired if used since Brett would have been and stayed a nominee. So, she would have picked the person who sat next to her come eviction night resulting in her benefitting his game more since he would survived a third eviction vote by a at least 4-3 vote to stay (and you know he would have had a field day with one or both of his Veto and/or eviction speeches with Bayleigh getting backdoored) (Also, lv 6 would have flipped at least one Foutte/Hive vote to get the numbers, likely either Fessy via JC/Tyler and maybe a tad bit from Brett himself and/or Mr and Mrs Smith may have happened one week earlier) Week two was when the hacker twist had some effect with Rockstar getting evicted on Haleigh’s (her closet friend) HoH. That said, there is no excusing Rockstar mishaps (telling Tyler the answer and the. Bringing the wrong answer) with Otev. Had she not done that, Tyler likely would have been knocked out (despite how long Haleigh took to get back that round). If she had only done one of the two mistakes, Her or Haleigh (depending on the mistake) would have secured the Veto. Despite having the votes to stay given Kaycee being the hacker, Tyler most likely would have wasted his power since his ego wouldn’t allow him as Haleigh’s replacement nominee. With Tyler no longer as option, either Kaycee (likely) or Brett (small chance) would have taken Rockstar’s place. Regardless of the replacement nominee, Angela would have good as evicted either at most a 5-2 vote with Kaycee and 4-3 (Haleigh would broken the tie to evict Angela as an attempt to breakup the trio of Angela, Kaycee, and Tyler) with Brett. (Even with the stranglehold Tyler had on JC and Sam, I do not see them keeping Angela over Brett since Sam didn’t like her at all or JC was aware that Brett has been one of the main reasons why he never touch the blocked until the double eviction)

The worst twist of all time was letting Paul into the BB19 house. From the $25,000 offer to essentially let him in, to friendship bracelets, to three weeks of safety yet he could still compete in competitions, it ruined that season. The hacker twist is no where close to the worst. First, they were told upfront what it was and what its powers were. Compared to the coup de'tat where they weren't told the specifics. Second, it was competed for so anyone could have won it. Again, other twists, like Pandora's box and the coup de'tat, were just handed to certain house guests. Lastly, both sides of the house had the hacker power at one point. One side used it wrong and one side used it right. Haleigh's mistakes were not telling her allies she had it, and picking someone from the other side to play in veto. Kaycee did a better job handling it when she won it by telling her alliance, putting up an easy target, and letting herself be a pawn so she would look less suspicious. It wasn't a great twist, just your typical mid-season twist common with newer Big Brother, but not the worst.

Fleury I can see season being that. However, I do like how Big Brother went from one the most loyal alliances from season 20 with lv 6 (and this is with even blindsiding their own ally at the double eviction) to the one of the most disloyal in the form of Gr8ful/Unde9able). The best way to to describe season 21, both highlight, botches, and controversies, is a mixture (in light of the uncertain future situation after last season) of Production wanting to experiment with situations they wanted to do for awhile in the form of twists and even casting decisions as well as this has been one most dysfunctional seasons played in quite some time.

Mark Lisowski there is no drama at all and it’s so boring. There is no rockstar, no puppet master, nobody misting anyone, nothing. The most drama there has been was the Christie and nick taco Tuesday which isn’t even a fraction compared to other seasons.

The hacker touched the game and it was way too overpowered. The hacker sucked whereas the Saboteur was harmless from a game standpoint and was entertaining.

Food and luxury comps existed before BB11 though (when the Have Not comps were introduced). There's always been around 3 comps each week, dating back to BB2/3. I'd prefer if at least 1 of the comps wasn't for some game-changing power though.

​@@Peridiam That's very true but that's also about the time when they'd start to build the entire narrative of the episode around that third competition. The biggest thing that BB has lost over the years is simple moments and interactions among the players that didn't somehow revolve around winning a competition. I miss DR segments that weren't there merely to stage the upcoming competition. BB11 is about the time when the people playing it began to feel less like human beings playing a game and more like "types" on a chessboard being moved around. I agree that there's nothing wrong with a third comp as a concept but like you said, it's better when it's not about the game itself. Throw in a few luxury comps or do some food comps that are for specific food items or days of the week. (Although I'd go back to no Have Not room and allowing them PB&J.) BB has fallen into too much of a pattern when someone gets a power for 3-4 weeks and a lot of the time the power either doesn't get used or gets used to help a majority alliance stay in control. Not affecting the game is huge but so is not affecting the players' ability to function.

@@Peridiam Not sure I agree there. It required Eric to tailor his game to please America, without revealing that he was working against the rest of the house. Targeting one of his closest allies for eviction, and throwing rogue votes that he had to pin on other people. I'd say it was definitely one of the best attempts to have America control the actions of a houseguest. Much moreso than Team America, MVP, Saboteur, etc.

Cody D Yeah, but amusingly I don’t like the sabotage of a players game or the ripple effect it had through the season. The edit had too much power. It allowed Dick to survive at the final 9, and prevented Eric from using the veto at 7. The veto at 7 in particular was absurd. The game itself was still in tact as usual, but the cause of the drama was egregiously artificial and the effects lacked honesty on numerous occasions. I found the twist itself to be fun when not game-related, but otherwise it was a misused twist, abused to tip the scales of the game in favor of the producers pets.

@@Peridiam It may be naiveté on my part, and I won't necessarily dispute that, but I find it extremely hard to believe that production influences things as much as people like Evel Dick let on. Dropping hints in diary room sessions (intentional or unintentional slips) to set off drama in the house? Okay, that's possible. Fudging fan-vote numbers to favor the houseguests who make better TV? That's a bit of a stretch to me. I've went to open calls for 5 of 7 BBCan seasons, and hope to one day make it in the house. So perhaps someday I will find out if it's true or not ... but for now, I believe there is still a purity to the game beyond the conspiracy theories.

Cody D Production definitely leads them on, though there’s no way to distinguish to what degree. I fall in the same boat as you, I give them the benefit of the doubt. America’s Player has no doubt though. At the final 7 Eric couldn’t use the veto because production didn’t let him. But he didn’t know that before he won it. The producers excuse was really weak, too. I rarely don the tinfoil but there are times where it’s so blatant, it can’t be excused.
