Their mayo disappeared in Texas for the longest. I just saw it was back at Whole Foods a couple weeks ago. I wonder if their dressing has something to do with the lack of mayo production for the past year
@@LindaASJ I messaged Just about the Mayo & Ranch a few weeks ago. They said these items did not sell well and that’s why they were discontinued. I don’t think I believe that at all. Those were two items that my husband, who is not vega, said those were very close to the cow dairy version.
As a midwestern person who still eats dairy, I was trying to find a vegan ranch so I could make the transition. I tried the follow your heart one and I can definitely say if you’re a newer vegan DONT BUY IT FOR DIPPING. It’s definitely a dressing and it needs more than potatoes or whatever. It needs the complexity of a salad to be good. Otherwise to me it tastes like lemons or something that’s definitely not ranch. For dipping I definitely recommend the tub style vegan ranches. I’ve tried 2 they didn’t have that I got at Fresh Thyme and they’re so much better. I really think the context of dip vs dressing is so much more important than whatever brand you go with because it matters how many different flavors you’re eating the sauce with at once.
It's interesting how diverse people's tastes are, because Hidden Valley invented ranch dressing, so i'd trust they'd make their vegan product to taste as identical to their dairy versions as possible, but some people seem to really not like it. I've never been a big ranch person myself but I think the Hidden Valley doesn't taste vegan, I think it's great!
I agree it tastes exactly like regular hidden valley, some people don't like the regular hidden valley, me being one of those so I don't like it but I miss it with blue top street ranch and it's so good!
Things I like from Kite Hill: Chive cream cheese Plain cream cheese Raviolis and tortellini Ricotta I’ve tried pretty much every other product they make. Everything else is pretty bad 😝
I'm from the midwest and people here put ranch on EVERYTHING. I was a huge pizza + ranch eater, and I'd say the Hidden Valley is the closest I've found to what I remember ranch tasting like (6 years vegan now).
Love the Hidden Valley plant based ranch! I find mine at Walmart as well, though some of our local Vegan group order it by the case from Hidden Valley directly lol
I agree that Hidden Valley has the best vegan ranch. I have found that if I mix it with plain yogurt, dill, garlic, cucumbers & s&p. Makes a great tzatziki
My dad will gag at the smell of ranch but happily eat a huge Caesar salad and swears they taste nothing similar! Lol. Half blue chz half ranch is the best combo!! Anyways thanks to the time stamps you got an instant thumbs up from my way! Thank you, very grateful
I’m currently looking to switch up my diet. the last two days, I’ve been binge watching yalls videos. I’m so hype you have a video for everything that I want to switch to that’s dairy free! I also really love yalls energy, keep the videos coming !
Follow Your Heart ranch dressing for the win! I don’t mind the Kite Hill ranch dip, either; the French onion KH dip is really tasty, though. I do have the Hidden Valley Ranch in the cabinet, but I haven’t tried it yet. FYI, Meijer carries the vegan Hidden Valley Ranch, also.
Yeah, Follow Your Heart is the best I've tried out of the three brands available in my area. My dad tried it (he isn't a vegan and loves ranch) and said he couldn't tell that it was vegan when we put it on his salad and didn't tell him. He straight up thought it was regular Hidden Valley.
Thanks for your review, this is right on time because I'm searching for a good vegan ranch dressing at this very moment. Andrew, your waves are on point bro, and you should do a separate tutorial channel on that topic alone! :-)
I loved Larisha's reaction to the Primal Kitchen one. "Vinegar . . . . with . . . . parsley?!" This is such a risky undertaking for you guys, I really appreciate you going through it. And, hey, 100K, so tons of other people do, too : ) TFP!
@@MakeItDairyFree YOU'RE VERY WELCOME, LOVE YOU BOTH :) :) CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THOSE AND FUTURE VIDEOS VIDEOS. SO GLAD TO SEE YOUR CHANNEL GROWING :) :) YOU'RE TRULY ONE OF A KIND.
It’s hard to find, but the Gotham greens ranch is amazing. I see it at Kroger regularly, they also have a fantastic spinach artichoke dip with really decent ingredients.
I have yet to find a ranch dressing that I like, but I absolutely love the Poppy Seed dressing from Simply Nature at Aldi's! So good! Thanks again for testing out these products, you guys rock!
Follow Your Heart has really stepped it up lately with all their products! I have nothing negative to say about what I’ve been trying from them lately🙂 I’ll try their ranch!
Could you guys do a Caesar dressing review video? 🥺 I miss Caesar salad and the vegan Caesar I bought at the grocery store was disappointing. I appreciate your content, I just recently found your channel and I'm so happy I did because you're answering the questions I've been having! 🧡
Have you done French Onion dip yet? Because the vegan options I’ve found on that are... not great. I‘ve just been making my own, but I’d love to see a taste test of different ones you can find.
The best dressings are ones that you make yourself and you can control what’s in it without the preservatives they put in these dressings. But thanks for sharing
Havent watched yet but I love hidden valleys ranch . I like daiyas but I wouldn’t call it ranch lol . Im from the midwest so I ate ranch almost daily before being a vegan if that matters 😂😂
Hi! I really enjoy your videos and use them as a 'go to' after watching your taste tests. I'm not sure if you have Kroger stores (or an affiliate) in your area, but if you do, it would be great if you all could do a taste test on their store brand vegan items, Simple Truth and Emerge. Thanks for 'taking the bullet' for us when things taste bad and giving your honest opinion. Be Blessed!!
As a meat eater that often wants to eat cleaner, I have had EXACT same reaction to any Primal Kitchens product. I believe that all of their avocado oil products are rancid. I'm looking for options so that I can be accommodating to guests. I'll probably have to stick with making my own using vegan ingredients lol.
hi unrelated to the video but i’ve been making cauliflower wings and following your recipe exact! everyone i make them for absolutely loves them, both vegan and non vegans :)
Follow your heart is my favorite one. Try the kite hill with regular ruffle chips or carrot sticks tastes pretty good. Had the hidden valley, and it tastes like fake ranch.
Target had a plant-based ranch that I adored, but it was recently discontinued and I knew you guys would have a video to help me find a new one. I’m halfway through this and it is not looking good…. 😩
I think the kite Hill ricotta cheese is the best ricotta 🧡✌️ for a premade buying in the store and the best Caesar or ranch dressing that I found is called plant perfect that's the brand
Great video again! My idea to try next is chocolate pudding. So far my favorite is Wayfarer and Whole Foods 365. I haven’t gotten brave enough to try others lol.
Kite hill has a few items we love.... ranch misses the boat... like miles off. Their ricotta, peach yogurt, kids tube yogurt, plain Greek yogurt (mainly for cooking), tortellini & ravioli, and we used to like their jalapeño cream cheese... which we can't find anymore. It's their "vegan cultures" that make some of the stuff good b/c to gives a natural 'tang'... but it completely overpowers other things & just using yogurt as a base for some things isn't the right formula if you want it to be great. Side note, JUST Ranch was the best store bought ranch we've had & we can't wait till they bring it back! The only complaint we have is that the company needs larger bottles! I was excited for hidden valley... but feel like it has half the seasoning of 'normal' ranch, ok but it could've been a home run... literally it's called 'Plant-Powered' add some plants! (Aka, herbs... see also, flavor) For now we'll be making our own still using the aforementioned kite hill greek yogurt, vegan helman's mayo, ripple unsweet, dry ranch seasoning (our local chain option is dairy-free) & our own blend of spices!
If you mixed the mill it with the wayfarer I think you will find a good balance of what you are looking for as a representation of the standard of ranch
The only three I’ve been able to find have been Diaya, Follow Your Heart, and Kite Hill. Honestly, I kinda like the Daiya. I bought it first because it was in my closest grocery store. When I went to another grocery store a bit further away I found the FYH and Kite Hill. I haven’t tried either, but I’ll probably try the FYH. The only Kite Hill product I ever liked was their ricotta. Everything else I’ve tried (plain cream cheese, chive cream cheese, and French onion dip) have been rather disappointing to me, so I probably will skip their ranch, too. 😆
Haven't watched this yet. But I'm obsessed with the Hidden Valley Ranch right now. But I miss Just Ranch so much. Wish I could find it. Can't wait to see what you guys pick. :)
Primal Kitchen hits the hardest and is the cleanest ingredient wise. The other ones remind me too much of milk and dairy which defeats the purpose of being vegan lol I wouldn't support Hidden Valley, or any company where "Natural Flavors" is top in the ingredient lists. Natural Flavors could mean anything. Wood dust, fillers, who knows.
I'm new to you guys and this is the first video I've watched. One thing I'd like to know is do you two normally lean toward spicy foods? Just so I know when you're tasting things if you lean aittle more toward spicy. I can't handle spicy LOL my kids laugh at me I'm such a sissy about anything over mild!! I really like your approach and your knowledge of how to use the products is great. Glad I found you!!!
Welcome, we're so glad you are here! Larisha is a wimp usually with spice and Andrew could eat a fresh jalapeno and tell you it's not spicy. Hope that helps!
Why does ranch have to be white Arby's has a red ranch sauce they put on sandwiches and I like that not shure if it has dairy products or not The perception that ranch needs to be white is based on the fact that it is a traditionaly dairy product and I get the sense that you don't trust it thinking it will already be nasty if it's not white
Im with you, I never liked ranch or blue cheese! 😝 I like french, western or russian dressings... All red dressings I guess... 😁 I have never tried the kite hill ranch dip but everything else that I have tried from them I really liked....
My go to vegan ranch has always been the follow your heart. I would add dried dill to it. It still doesn’t hit the mark however. I really want to try that mill it one you guys tried and of course hidden valley. I wish they would sell it at Safeway 😭 I haven’t tried the Just brand either, so hopefully they bring it back so I can try it. Their mayo was hands down the best vegan mayo imo. So I wish they would bring that back as well. Best foods had a really good mayo, but then they changed the ingredients and now call it “vegan mayo AND dressing” and it’s so gross now. 😭 thanks for doing this taste test even though you guys don’t like ranch. Haha. I gotta go to the store and try to find some of these now
Y’all missed the most authentic plant based ranch from Hidden Valley. It’s reasonably priced and I can’t tell the difference between the real deal Oh for Pete’s sake! As soon as I finished typing you pulled out the bottle. It’s been too long since you had the real one and combined with not being a ranch fan, I believe this one was out of your scope of expertise. Don’t even get me started that you taste tested with seasoned fries. LOL! Entertaining as always
Aldi has a vegan ranch if you can find it, under the Earth Grown brand. I bought it about 3 or 4 months ago and it disappeared from my pantry before I could try it. Like literally disappeared, and I’m the only one I’m my household who would eat it. I was so bummed and haven’t found it again at Aldi. Still keeping my eyes open though. I wonder why Just may have stopped production on some of their dressings if they got such rave reviews?…I also don’t mind the Hidden Valley ranch. My local market carries it.
The only vegan ranch that hasn't let me down is the one Aldi came out with last year. It needs to come back fr fr. I was excited to try Hidden Valley, since I loved their original ranch, but it doesn't have much flavor - I had to doctor it up with more dill, etc.
Sometimes RU-vid hates me and gives me commercials like every 3min. It's happened a few times -- always on your videos ...??? (11 commercials for this video.)
The only good vegan ranch I've tried is Just Ranch and it's been years since I've seen it. I got so excited when I saw Hidden Valley on Amazon. When I tried it though I thought it was disgusting. I just make my own, it's the only way I can get close to what I remember.
Ranch is not a dressing I had encountered before turning vegan as I live in Europe It is a VERY American dressing so I have no reference to measure these against So this is interesting to watch from an anthropological standpoint not in a practical shopping way.
