The white marble dial is my favorite. Truly a stunner. I do wish San Martin would upgrade the movement to a hi beat movement for this model. Nothing wrong with the NH35 but a 9015 or 9039 would elevate this watch. My two cents. Still a great watch. Cheers!

I've got the silver dial version and I can say, that if I was to leave only 1 watch from my collection, it would be that one. SM nailed it with that model and with those 3 new dials they even made it better.

I have the previous model with the sand dune white dial, and I like it very much. I prefer the polished centre links with this dial; the extra bling works well.

Good video and review! I like the longer counter balance, and the fact that it shaped somewhat like an arrowhead. This allows for a quick 24 to 12 hour conversion.

I tried to watch this video 3 times Al and kept getting interrupted. At last I get to watch it all ! I agree on the brushed centre links, they look better and the polished ones scratch and look bad. I prefer the non aventurine dial personally. The perennial problem with San Martin is that their bracelets are too small for my 8.1" wrist. I cannot understand why they don't make them bigger. Though 8.1" might be a little bigger than normal, it's not that unusual. Thanks Al, another excellent review. Really appreciate it !

The one thing that has kept me from deciding on a Grand Seiko Hi-Beat is that they don't always use ceramic dials bezels on their more elaborated dials (like the Shunbun, White Birch, etc.). For a daily wear watch I really need that scratch resistance and serviceablity. I'd like to see San Martin and others meld these fancy dials with ceramic bezels. This particular dial would look great with dark grey ceramic dial and red arabic or roman numerals on the bezel. Alsol would be nice to see a quick change strap system like the Vacheron Overseas, maybe as an accessory to keep the costs down.

Im debating their other GMT version similar to this. The SN0136-G GMT in blue or that Seesetern GMT in blue in the cream color I just commented on. Which do you prefer? I love the brushing on the SM but is seems the Seestern would be a better everyday wear. Hmm thanks!

Sorry, I've not been hands on with the SN0136 so far, so I can't really say which is best. To me, they are very different watches though. The Seestern is a dress GMT watch and the SN0136 is a diver's style GMT. If it's going to be an everyday watch, it's more a case of which style fits in more with your everyday life ... if you have more need for a smart, dressy watch then go for the Seestern. If you normally wear casual clothes, go for the San Martin. Thanks for watching!!

I bought the blue sand dune dial and absolutely love it. The movt is dead on. I broke a screw off in the bracelet, so that's ruined. I put it on a tan BisonStrap leather strap and completely love it and think it's way better than the bracelet and I love the bracelet. It's one of my favorite watches.

The highlight of the watch is the beautiful adventurin dial. My nitpick is that SM should have done a bit more with the flat hands, add more surfaces and a pointy tip. I hope SM will use adventurin in a diver's watch, the diver's bezel is more useful to me than the GMT hand. I might still buy this one in a sale because it is already a very nice looking watch

Thanks for this review. I swore off buying more watches, and ~$300 for a Chinese watch is hard to bite, but your review pushed me over the edge. It looks very much like my Movado Series 800 (one of my faves) but with a more interesting dial and automatic movement. While I was at it, I grabbed the Sugess ST19 and the new (blue) PD-1778. I should be set for a while. 😊 Aliexpress has some great discounts going on for March sale. I got the SM for $254, Sugess for $120, and PD for $55. I grabbed a few other things to maximize the March discounts.

I have both the white sand version of this and the blue dial SN0116. I find myself wearing the 116 far more frequently. Nothing wrong with this at all. I do much prefer the all brushed bracelet.

I have this watch and it's really nice for the money. Competes with my zelos spearfish. It really could do with better AR since even with the coating they have used the crystal is still quite reflective. Dial and case are excellent. Really great job. Hands are good. Well finished, no complaints. Bracelet is a little disappointing, servicable, but nothing amazing. Would have like polished bevels on the side of the bracelet for comfort and a bit more visual interest. I will say that i don't consider it to be competing with my Grand Seiko or Omega, but it's absolutely competitive with any microbrand below £500 (anyone not moving up to the 2892 level of movements or modified/inhouse stuff basically). SM could sell these for a lot more. If they were to shave the thickness down to 12mm using a 9075 for heck, double the price, i would still consider it good value.

I'll be honest I just ordered the white dial last night, I looked at the stone dials but they just didn't impress me nearly as much as the white did... Plus I really like the center links polished. It makes it look less refined and more blingy however I like the way it catches the light. Most of my watches are tool watches so finishing is a little crude...

@hankschrader2353 no I'm constantly using my GMT to both monitor timezones and time daily tasks. Its not as legible as a diver but it really helps. Plus you can time up to 24 hours using the GMT hand

These watches represent excellent value for money, seiko NH34 workhorse movement, hacking, hanwind, superb finishing for the price, you simply cannot get better value watch for this price point. A seiko branded/Citizen etc would be a lot more money, I think for a watch like this seiko/Citizen etc are in for some serious competion from Chinese brands like this, however San Martin etc do not advertise much and are not as widely available yet as japanese brands I say yet because I believe that San Martin etc will go from strength to strength and capture more of the low to mid range watch buyers out there, time will tell if I'm right the specs are fantastic for the money.

I'll be looking at this one come next months anniversary sale. My only complaint with San Martin is 90% of their watches are NH movements. I wish they'd use some of the nice 28,000 beat movements out there, even the GMTs.

@@TimeForAnotherWatch people got so annoyed at SM for raising prices to use high end movements. Everyone wants a perfectly polished watch, 28800 movement, quick release, etc for Pagani money. I think they should just create a sub brand with all the bells and whistles and micro brand pricing. They could call it...Grand Martin or maybe, The San...ok I'm joking about the name, but not about them pivoting and creating an all out higher tier sub brand.

Most collectors seem to want mostly/only automatic movements. While I recognize the appreciation for the "beauty" there (I do enjoy my single automatic; it uses an NH36) my strong preference remains quartz and I am OK being in perhaps a small minority.

@@adk7962 The case is from Grand Seiko SBGE285, the bracelet is a Rolex Oyster bracelet, these dials have been used by brands like Zelos for the last 10 years.

I can appreciate that, not everyone needs a GMT function. If you synced the hour hand with the GMT hand they would go out of sync almost immediately, as they traverse the dial at different rates. Thanks for watching 👍👍

Why does the logo looks like a Tag Hauer?

Just my opinion but I don't think they look alike. The Tag logo is crest shaped, whereas the SM logo is hexagonal. Also on the SM logo, all of the text is shaped to fit the hexagon shape. On the Tag logo, only the second line is shaped. Thanks for watching 👍👍

Doesn't look Grand Seiko quality to me. Is it just because of the brush transitions? I have several San Martins. I really don't see this as better than their previous GMT offerings, just different. I like the previous models like the SN0109-G, and the SN0005-GMT because the larger indices and hands are more legible and hold more lume. If you want to wear a watch to tell the time it makes more sense.

It’s awful that San Martin has a classier applied logo than much bigger brands and almost every microbrand. Every single microbrand should take note here and create a nice, applied logo. It adds a lot of dimension and brings up the overall feel of the watch IMO.

It's a good looking watch with some good features for it's price BUT the polish & brushing whilst good for $320 is not in any way Grand Seiko quality.. I know as i have Grand Seiko's but i'm not a watch snob, i'm a realist..

In day to day use, I don't have any problems reading the time on this one at all. If you check the video at 8:51 you can see the watch under normal indoor lighting and it's very legible. Thanks for watching 👍👍
