you are a rock star! my grandmother took up painting a few years ago and BOY she was very much not artistic. it was hard for the family, because we wanted to be honest, but also not break her heart, but for a while they were... just really not pleasant to look at. BUT!! she kept at it, and has been painting consistently for a while and nowadays, her paintings are incredible. you would think she has been painting her entire life! she is super inspiring to me, and I just wanted to share because it is true that it's "never too late". I am taking it up now in my 30's, and it's very difficult (currently still struggling with water to paint ratios). please keep going, and if you ever get down, come back to this video for the basics and some inspiring words! ❤

Same here. But I invested in artist grade watercolors, brushes, and 100% cotton paper. It does the magic and improves my skills A LOT because of the quality rather than using the cheap ones (which I used to have too).

Hi Jenna, I ordered your book Everyday Watercolor: Learn to Paint Watercolor in 30 Days today and I'm really looking forward to doing the exercises and painting techniques from it. I am so excited! Thank you for helping me get over my fear of watercolour painting. I have everything except confidence, which I hope your 30 day course in the book will help me to gain. Thanks again for all you do. God bless you and your family.

Our handwriting changes every few years, and I wonder if the same thing happens with our painting style . I can definitely notice that your painting “handwriting” has shifted since you started changing up your supplies. Your strokes are more like twigs as you poke at the paper. It looks like you’re re-discovering your love for painting!

The tea to butter video made something click for me, and started me into painting after years of no 2d art. It has become part of my (near) daily practice...like scales for painting. But the last few days, when I say it in my head...I keep going "tea, coffee,milk,cream,sugar..." LOL. We do not even eat sugar. NOT sure why my brain is doing this... maybe it wants cookies???

I would say a "simple" sky blend from blue to yellow to a reddish, let dry...then a dark for some mountains is a "easy" first painting. Teach you how wet into wet blending works, etc. Then try others like flowers, more detailed land scapes...etc
