i was allergic to cats - but i inherited one unexpectedly. we gave him "lion" haircuts to keep his fur really short and that helped a lot but wasn't perfect. i would still get red skin if he touched me (and sneezing) but the lion haircuts over time (about a year) made my allergies completely disappear. i had him with a full coat for years after that and no issues. you're body can learn it is overreacting

M y gf is allergic to mainecoon and we got 1 mainecoon and 1 scottish fold. We didnt knw that before. She has to start taking these shots and seems not working and doctor suggested to avoid maincoon for atleast 3 years and we temporarily rehome him to my friend. Will my gf will fine with mainecoon after 3-5 years? We r so depressed that both of them are litterally our kids and i cant sleep without him. What are the chances that she will be fine in 3 years?

Hey, thank you for this video. I have a cat that I am severely allergic to. Apart from feeding him fel d1 antibodies (in that one Purina kibble), I don’t know what else to do. So, I’m getting desperate and might consider immunotherapy. Could you please answer these questions? Besides cat proteins, what other ingredients does the medication contain? Would this medication have any effect on the liver/kidneys or any other organ? Is there a risk of chronic toxicity?

I developed an autoimmune disease called Relapsing Polychondritis during those damn allergy shots, and autoimmune diseases such as Sjögren's syndrome, localized scleroderma, recurrent pericarditis, and vasculitis have also been reported to occur during allergen immunotherapy. Allergen-specific immunotherapy aims to reduce allergic symptoms by providing peripheral T cell tolerance through the induction of regulatory T cells. By stimulating Treg cells, the Th1-Th2 balance shifts towards Th1, leading to substantial changes in the cytokine profile of T cells, increasing the synthesis of IL-2, IL-12, IL-18, IFN- γ by Th1. This mechanism has been proposed to explain the association between allergen immunotherapy and autoimmune diseases.
